Thank you for this informative review! For $700 I would expect this cabinet to have more of the original arcade cabinet features. Mainly the monitor being built into the back of the cabinet with lights that flashed on the forward glass pane just in front of you whenever you took damage, creating a pseudo 3D experience. Back in 1991 when this was first released this was cutting edge technology in the arcades and really wowed people. Yes, I concur, I'd pay $500 for this, but not $700.

Haha, thanks bro! Yeah sometimes brute force isn't always the right answer. The gun did go back together without an issue. I don't how getting a replace gun will work since they are specific to the cabinet and player location.
First mod I would do is make a bigger control panel, mount the guns on the panel with swivel wheel casters, mount the monitor all the way to the back of the cabinet. That's as close as you will get to the original T2 arcade. Or just find an original for a few hundred dollars more
It’s tough to say when or IF a price drop will come. This is marketed for arcade and movie fans that will accept one game just to have Arnie in their man cave. Look at Tron recent restock same $700 price months later unlike everything else around that time discounted
I just picked it up for $299. I would never have paid $700 for it. A1Up simply takes too many short cuts with all of their games to charge such a ridiculous price. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the 5 A1Ups I currently own, but I didn't pay full price for any of them.

$299 black Friday..... this ridge racer, and Killer Instinct....so I pulled the trigger on killer instinct. I even got a promo code to work for another $45 off!!
I had a piece of something rattling in my blue gun opened it and noticed that the weight on the back of the stick that makes the clicking noise had fallen out there's no way to completely separate the blue gun with out breaking the orange ring so I just placed it back inside where it came from but I'm unable to turn the screw to keep it tight. Also during this procedure I noticed that my red gun has the plastic lens in the front of the camera .Great video 👍
Got mine for $400 last week. Your dismantle of the guns = essential for my issues: Both guns had the weight for the rumble out of the holder. Additionally out of nowhere the blue gun stopped rattling. I want nuts for 12 hours till i rewatched your video and the mention of the “kill switch”. OMG. if not for your review I would have lost my mind. Nothing sucks harder than putting the cabinet together and then somethings broken.
Nine months ago you said it was a great $500 cabinet but the problem was that it WAS $700. Here in the first week of December 2022 Walmart has it for $299 , Which I feel is a lot easier to stomach.
I didn't get the Tron cabinet. I not a big enough fan of the game to justify that purchase. There are also quality issues with the flight stick. In some cases it literally snaps off!
You mean you have to use your hands? That's like a baby's toy. Good luck with you getting the original T2. An ideal situation would be to get an original gun cab and find jamma boards for other gun games and swap boards when you want to play a different game. Or, get retro lizard's gun cab or drive or pc which will have over 100 light gun games on it. T2 wasn't really a light gun game, it used fixed guns on pedestals that swiveled and they were like giant joysticks. On the SNES and Genesis, it was made to use a controller or an optional light gun accessory like Super Scope for the SNES version. I'm sure T2 can be modded to play other games but other guns might have to be used with a pc. At that point you might as well gut a cheaper 1up cab.
Thanks for the review! How's the plastic feel on those guns? Is it a good, strong plastic, or is it something that would splinter in my hands if I grip the handle a little too tight during an intense play session?
Most thorough review I've seen and I've seen them all up to now. I was really thinking about getting this cab but I hate the clickity click of the guns (it would drive me crazy after a while), the washed out marquee, the diminished sound, the long dangling wires and of course the ridiculous price for one game. So its a hard pass for me. Maybe one day someone can show how it can be modded to deal with these issues.
I agree. Having the gun wires just dangling there when not in play just looks tacky. You'd figure for $700 they'd have wires that could retract back into the machine when not in use. Even with inflation, this machine is a cash grab.

Those guns...my oh my....those guns! I will wait for some upgraded components on the next A1Up light gun cabinet. I don't even think I'd bite at $500 personally. Maybe I'm cheap lol. I'd probably be in right around $350. As far as the cables, I think some of those cable wraps that make the cable just look thicker would look really good. Unsure what they are called but I use them to route cables up to my ceiling. Looks like it's "supposed to be there" rather than just a dangling cable.

Pro tip. Don’t put glue or loctite on your fasteners. Unless you want to destroy them if you have to take it apart to move to a new location or ship it to a new owner in the future
😂 How does threadlocker destroy fasteners? Only use wood glue one side of the dowel as shown in the video. This will allow you to disassemble the unit.
Great video. Yeah $700 is rather steep especially with one game and a missing protective plastic cover for the lightgun. Surely you can contact Arcade1up and they will send you a replacement gun or part. With it’s overpricing, lowish sound and dim marquie, overall I still think T2 kicks ar*e and it looks awesome in your room 👍🏻

How about the Geekworm board then to use a larger screen? Maybe a 19" or 20" that fits in the cab with a Tulsa mount. I saw mods for Big Buck where they mounted a big flat TV to the cabinet.
Hold out til under 500. Loved the movie, never got into the game. Bought TMNT at 549 I’m happy with it. I have the first TMNt will probably sell it. The new TMNt sound sucks until you hook it up to some bigger speakers. Arcade1up has potential to be really great, I love the games released, but they need to get the playability, sound, and build better at these new prices.
They are cheap knockoffs with poor quality parts and even damage issues in production and shipping. They are really not worth the high prices. And the large cabinets are a pain to build. The countercades and partycades are prebuilt. There are other companies out there that make higher quality brand new arcade cabinets like game room solutions, and others. The X-Arcade stick is very high quality and it fits on a 1up with flat side panel edges. You can play console systems with it.
So, it seems like the sound is still a bit of an issue... dang, what is it with these recent cabs that they can't figure out how to do decent-quality audio? Is it a subtle ploy to get people to buy the "pro" version if they want something better? I hate to say it, but I could almost see it being something that dicey... that they'll consciously opt not to fix just to help push people up-market. The plot thickens.

Therese's not alot of room in the guns to add weights like people do with the buck hunter rifles. Maybe some strategically placed steel putty would work. How would you be able to take the cabinet apart to replace parts down the road beings you glued the dowels and put locktight on the screws?
The back panel is still removable to access the PCB and wiring. The Blue lock-tite is not an adhesive. It's a sticky compound that doesn't dry and helps prevent the fastener from backing out of the threads.
T2 has been a movie that has yet to be matched in greatness, so I will be buying this just as a way to get T2 graphics in my living room. But i am unsure how to pay that full price. I wonder how long they will make these for and when the best (meaning cheapest) time to buy is. This is a unique product all T2 fans will want, but I am not an insane movie buff that will pay any price, even is this looks nice. They got me in a bind, its the best movie ever, but the quality just isn't quite high enough to pay 900$ taxes in (Canada price)
The prices of these just don't justify me buying them. I live in Canada so paying Canadian dollars on these is painful. If they were half the price I would consider buying some of these but it makes more sense to just buy a custom made cabinet that has built in emulators so you can play hundreds of games.

Can you please tell me if your cab has a buzz even when the volume is all the down? Also does the sound cut out every few seconds while playing. You can test this by just letting the game play without firing. I noticed it right away and if I turn the volume up it is even more noticable. I contacted A1up and they gave me the whole we try and make it 1 to 1 with the arcade spill and if an update comes out we'll let you know. Also does your board on the back of the monitor have a red light on constantly and the metal plate covering it get really hot?
I'm debating on buying it since it's now $600. I only have room for one arcade1up would you buy T2 or pinball or wait for one of the new releases? I only have tmnt

19kfox, Another solid review! I had a question. I know playing shoulder to shoulder with someone on this cabinet may be difficult for bigger people due to the size of an Arcade1up. Will the light guns work if two people are shooting off angle from the sides? I'd be interested in knowing how far off angle you can be and the light guns still registering. I wish you could mod it and use the stock guns, like throw Rev X on there. If you get this and a better gun cab is announced down the road, will you have buyer's remorse? Big Buck had 4 games. Maybe a Sega or Namco gun cab will as well, or even more. This was a hit in arcades in the early 90's but then newer 3D and polygon gun games came out like Area 51, Maximum Force, Site 4, House of the Dead, Virtua Cop, Carnevil, etc. and T2 started to look dated. There was also a SNES and Genesis version called T2: The Arcade Game.
Hey man, your videos are great . I just got mine and I’m all plugged up but the title doesn’t light up. I have it connected the way you have and when i turn it on, the game turns on but no light up, is there a switch on the light i have to turn on?
If you’re talking about the marquee I suggest laying the cabinet on its side a removing one of the side panels. Then you can verify that the led light is on or off. Your problem could be that the marquee graphic was not printed on translucent film.
The fact it only has one game makes it not worth $700 all the Arcade 1up marquees are washed out. I use arcade factory marquees. I would use your audio mod with the logitech speakers on every 1up I did it on mine thanks for the audio mod tip!
Another review mentioned this as another cab having soft screen filtering without any way to turn it off and no way to add scan lines. Was it this way for yours as well?

It's possible to unscrew the metal monitor from the frame and mount it on a back wood panel with strong two way tape for the arcade set back look.

Very weird,authentic Terminator used mounted joysticks in the shape of guns and not real lightguns. Operation Wolf did as well.

Szabos arcade new marquee = $40. Standard pc speakers with subwoofer = $50. And it was on sale last week for $400…….

That clicking gun noise is so cheesy. The gun noise also way louder than the game volume ! $700 is ridiculous

My Terminator 2 arcade cabinet was shipped on Monday and has not moved from it's original location because of FedEx operational delays. Total BS!

Does the logitech z313 come with the audio splitter to connect to arcade1up or did you buy it separately?
So, it seems like the sound is still a bit of an issue... dang, what is it with these recent cabs that they can't figure out how to do decent-quality audio? Is it a subtle ploy to get people to buy the "pro" version if they want something better? I hate to say it, but I could almost see it being something that dicey... that they'll consciously opt not to fix just to help push people up-market. The plot thickens.
I would like to see follow up reviews on newer cabs after 30 to 60 days to see how they are holding up. Thoughts

Therese's not alot of room in the guns to add weights like people do with the buck hunter rifles. Maybe some strategically placed steel putty would work. How would you be able to take the cabinet apart to replace parts down the road beings you glued the dowels and put locktight on the screws?
The back panel is still removable to access the PCB and wiring. The Blue lock-tite is not an adhesive. It's a sticky compound that doesn't dry and helps prevent the fastener from backing out of the threads.
T2 has been a movie that has yet to be matched in greatness, so I will be buying this just as a way to get T2 graphics in my living room. But i am unsure how to pay that full price. I wonder how long they will make these for and when the best (meaning cheapest) time to buy is. This is a unique product all T2 fans will want, but I am not an insane movie buff that will pay any price, even is this looks nice. They got me in a bind, its the best movie ever, but the quality just isn't quite high enough to pay 900$ taxes in (Canada price)

Did you remove the plastic sheet off the Marquee because mine is super bright and overkill with the glue ...good luck taking apart ...
I’ve never had an issues taking apart my cabinets when using Blue Loctite, now Red Loctite would be a different story.

The prices of these just don't justify me buying them. I live in Canada so paying Canadian dollars on these is painful.
If they were half the price I would consider buying some of these but it makes more sense to just buy a custom made cabinet that has built in emulators so you can play hundreds of games.

Can you please tell me if your cab has a buzz even when the volume is all the down? Also does the sound cut out every few seconds while playing. You can test this by just letting the game play without firing. I noticed it right away and if I turn the volume up it is even more noticable. I contacted A1up and they gave me the whole we try and make it 1 to 1 with the arcade spill and if an update comes out we'll let you know. Also does your board on the back of the monitor have a red light on constantly and the metal plate covering it get really hot?

Decide which style of game you enjoy the most, pinball or shooters.
Personally, I would lean toward T2.

Another solid review! I had a question. I know playing shoulder to shoulder with someone on this cabinet may be difficult for bigger people due to the size of an Arcade1up. Will the light guns work if two people are shooting off angle from the sides? I'd be interested in knowing how far off angle you can be and the light guns still registering.

So cool! Thanks for the info! I agree with you, at $500, it's a more palatable price, I'm just sad that Arcade1up could only secure the T2 license by only including the one game. With the guns setup differently than the original T2 Arcade machine, this would've been perfect for other shooters as well. Still, having this in your Arcade will really set it off!

I wish you could mod it and use the stock guns, like throw Rev X on there. If you get this and a better gun cab is announced down the road, will you have buyer's remorse? Big Buck had 4 games. Maybe a Sega or Namco gun cab will as well, or even more. This was a hit in arcades in the early 90's but then newer 3D and polygon gun games came out like Area 51, Maximum Force, Site 4, House of the Dead, Virtua Cop, Carnevil, etc. and T2 started to look dated. There was also a SNES and Genesis version called T2: The Arcade Game.

Hey man, your videos are great . I just got mine and I’m all plugged up but the title doesn’t light up. I have it connected the way you have and when i turn it on, the game turns on but no light up, is there a switch on the light i have to turn on?
If you’re talking about the marquee I suggest laying the cabinet on its side a removing one of the side panels.
Then you can verify that the led light is on or off. Your problem could be that the marquee graphic was not printed on translucent film.
The fact it only has one game makes it not worth $700 all the Arcade 1up marquees are washed out. I use arcade factory marquees. I would use your audio mod with the logitech speakers on every 1up I did it on mine thanks for the audio mod tip!

Another review mentioned this as another cab having soft screen filtering without any way to turn it off and no way to add scan lines. Was it this way for yours as well?
I couldn’t tell if a soft screen filter was used. Sadly no scanline option either.

Kinda want a shooter but, not sure if this is the one for me at 7 big ones with 1 game. Do the guns make it worth it? R.r. also has more games so...which do you like better overall?
Ridge Racer but if you already have Outrun I would go with T2.

Yes but the sound is a little muffled.

Not without an additional aftermarket board.
No Solenoid in the guns, just cheap breakable plastic parts. This is a no-go on all levels.
