- St neots Treacle mine at Duloe, does it really exist. So I was going through some Facebook posts and I came across an article about the treacle mine of Duloe. Never heard about this mine before and there seemed a lot of photos and comments all about it. Seemed very feasible to me and decided to have an explore. So come with me and see how I got on. Thanks for watching Andy.
Having lived in Duloe the treacle mines were at the end of the village known as Duloe Buts. As you leave Duloe towards Staploe the Buts are located to the left before Shakers Way. The mine closed in 1952 due to a shortage of suitable glass jars. All the highly skilled workers went on to work in the Barns Pipe factory on the Great Noth Road.
Bihari, that’s interesting, I remember seeing Shakers way. Thanks for the information much appreciated.
Hi Andrew. Duloe is pronounced do-low. Shame you didn’t find the mines but interesting all the same.
Hello Andy,
Nice to see you upload, hopefully after the Canadian passport is sorted out? I definitely want to head back for visit. I’m always happy to see you well.
Hi Michael, hope u get your passport sorted. I’m fine, thanks for asking
Hi mate Old Gafer here. Enjoying your posts. Dave says hello
Hi guys, say hi from me as well. Thanks for watching
The place is called Duloe not Dunlo and the treacle mines story has been going around for way over 70 years....a lot of parents used it as a threat to send their children down the mines if they misbehaved
Hiya, I guessed I pronounce it wrong. Thanks for watching anyway. It’s a nice story about the treacle mine
Haha, it's a running joke in St Neots as it's all made up.
Hiya, I guessed it was all made up, but a nice story anyway, a good one to tell the kids if naughty lol. Thanks for watching
