The thing is, indonesia is a nonblock country. They maintain good relationship with lots of superpower, playing good role is southeast Asia. They have less tension compared to lots of its neighbors, being able to move freely in the sea of tension is their power.
They can manage to have a Russian gunship and US attack helo flown together without major diplomatic consequences. Probably shortly soon they will also be able to make Su-27/30 and F-15 fly together as fellow wingmen

That wouldn't be a problem if we have aircraft carrier, the problem is, we didn't have one so it's really hard for those planes to land, limiting its mobility. One of the other problem is also the fact that we lack the jamming equipment to intercept incoming electrical warfare AND when we do have it, it's almost certainly only available in big city like jakarta. Any other cities in indonesia are severely underpowered and under protected from incoming threats. Some of the strongly defended cities are probably only jakarta, jogjakarta, bandung, and surabaya, that's it. All of them are in java island, you attack any other cities in sumatra, or borneo, or sulawesi, or papua and it's guaranteed that they're screwed, that's how centralized these jets are situated

We're surrounded by ocean, yet we don't have an aircraft carrier. I know it's expensive to have and maintain even one, but i'm actually hoping one day my country will be able to afford one.
I believe the reason why we're not planning to get any aircraft carriers is because we simply don't need one. Our region's lands are close to one another. We can easily build airfields surrounding them without the need for an aircraft carrier. However, on the other hand, since Indonesia's region mainly consists of water, they need to prioritize acquiring more ships and modernizing them to defend themselves.

Quick launch/refuel at sea is much quicker and superior than returning to landbases and then relaunching. As an indonesian myself, i don't think that all of those are enough considering that our area is VERY huge and most of them are waters/sea. That wouldn't be a problem if we have aircraft carrier, the problem is, we didn't have one so it's really hard for those planes to land, limiting its mobility. One of the other problem is also the fact that we lack the jamming equipment to intercept incoming electrical warfare AND when we do have it, it's almost certainly only available in big city like jakarta. Any other cities in indonesia are severely underpowered and under protected from incoming threats. Some of the strongly defended cities are probably only jakarta, jogjakarta, bandung, and surabaya, that's it. All of them are in java island, you attack any other cities in sumatra, or borneo, or sulawesi, or papua and it's guaranteed that they're screwed, that's how centralized these jets are situated

We're surrounded by ocean, yet we don't have an aircraft carrier. I know it's expensive to have and maintain even one, but i'm actually hoping one day my country will be able to afford one.
I believe the reason why we're not planning to get any aircraft carriers is because we simply don't need one. Our region's lands are close to one another. We can easily build airfields surrounding them without the need for an aircraft carrier.
However, on the other hand, since Indonesia's region mainly consists of water, they need to prioritize acquiring more ships and modernizing them to defend themselves.
