I live in Malaysia on the significant island of Labuan, I would like to say my country's airforce is lackluster, I've studied the superiority of western aircraft and western weapons in general realising that the disparity of our Cold War Russian and cheap Chinese equipment could actually be a rusty double-edged sword as our military could barely even out-shine the smart Singaporeans, this is can also be attributed to our terrible economy as well.

i live in malaysia and i find corruption in my country sad because i want my country to be a nice country no corruptions and have a good defense wheter it be on the sea land or air
how strong? Malaysia not really strong as military power but strong enough for local defense, especially to fight criminals, terrorists, pirates and any rebels cross borders.

Malaysian ministers and military apologists always say this "we don't want to take part in armed race between SEA and Asian nations because we're peaceful people and want to avoid conflict" while actually "we're too corrupt and our money are always lost somewhere in someone pocket and so we can't afford stuff we actually need"

Yes , Malaysia has stealth fighter, they bought Russian stealth fighter Mig 29 and they lost their engine in Europe and they dont even know it was missing...really stealthy! 😅😮
Speaking from a Malaysian perspective, RMAF is in a pitiful state, the nation's military as a whole is not much better.
The last time China flew into our EEZ, we cant get flyable jet to react in time.
And remember they are claiming OUR islands!
We have an outdated defense industry, late to the game when it comes to the latest military tech (like drones) and strategy, and no local defense contractor that can produce competitive traditional military equipment (guns, vehicle etc)
If we dont fund these industry and create competition, we can never innovate.
Cause goverment never care about it, what ever who are the goverment, they still got same mentality. Our military really outdated, goverment never fulfill what our military really needed
If Malaysia at war, our politicians are the first one to leave the country.
Our RMAF did send Hawk to intercept and warn China fleet. There's a news about it. But I agree with your statement. Increasing defense budget hopefully.

@@NJbro31 actually TUDM making strategic move by sending only Hawks because not to be labelled as provocative measure as sending our Hornets or Sukhois that armed to the teeth. Of course TUDM can do that...but to what extend..inviting J20 to visit us. China might get agitated and next move they send fighter jets. Malaysia don't want this to happened. So Hawks is enough.
So many models with small quantity each. This will be logistic headache from spare parts, maintenance & manpower training.
That's why no more procure Russian fighter jet

It's not about the advancement of gadgets rather than the army making it through. How strong is the military is not fully depending on military techs. Its the professionalism, knowledge hidden from the world .Expertise, skills by the army in the archipelago which is unmatched. If not, the Black Hawk US Army wouldn't make it alive without the help from the Malaysian Armed Forces back in 1993 Mogadishu

Why chasing quantity when Malaysia is a much smaller country than Indonesia. Of course Indonesia will have bigger squad. It is wiser to pursue the quality of the squad even if it is small.. bigger doesn't mean better...
But we should also know our threat better, china is a large country with high quantity of fighters they can send to overwhelm our defense and the amount of intercontinental and cruise missiles they have, it's not about quality vs quality, it's quantity overwhelm quality

They can conduct exercise with us or anyone they want to gain intelligence, other countries like US, AU, EG they did not claim anything from us and we share military tactics with them since our independence. The problem is a sudden attack from anyone especially a neighbors country, like the bornea confrontation from 1963-1966, they can be friends with u until they stab u in the back, self defense needs to be levelled up to meet any potential threat. actually when we talk about corruption in military it is little bit complicated, the opposition politician always attack the goverment by the word corruption at any angle, any point and any issues including the military budget, for example malaysian sukhoi more expensive compare indonesia, price become an avantage to them condemn the goverment, but the politician never explain what a device installed in malaysian suhkoi and what indonesian sukhoi have. i remember when malaysian scorphane price more expensive then taiwan, DAP accused malaysia a corrupt goverment, until they want to see what inside the scorphane, and te goverment allowed them, then when malaysian submarine scorphane data leaked, and indonesia purchased scorphane more advance every one happy.

I dun consider the FA-50 to be a main fighter. As its a Light combat aircraft.. against rivals like F-16V, F-15EX or even F/A-18E/F Super Hornets..or Eurofighters, Rafale...4.5 Generation fighters its no match.. and i am not even talking about 5th gen fighters..

Have you seen any country which its air force jet fighter engine can be missing and stolen? Besides, what is the point to purchase so many advanced jet fighter if the country mentality is not combat ready and with the ignorance of potential threat and intruder? Sure, if you wanna play "what if" then let's be reasonable for a moment. Su-30MKM need to be modified first to be able to conduct a launch and landing operations on an Aircraft Carriers. Consistent training is required because Malaysia has never own a single aircraft carrier let alone test drive one to my knowledge.
Rather than 300x Su-30MKM, it's better to accommodate around 100x Turkish TF-X 5th Generation Fighting Jet 😂

1. Hundreds of millions spent to buy jets. But corrupted until cant afford to build hangars. Most jets are not flight worthy, not to mention to war.
