I saw a comment from a different video where someone says “ don’t call him the Curator, he’s death.” It was a heated argument and I’m like why. He is both. He states he’s the Curator, but I don’t think he outright says he’s death he’s more death symbolically I think. He shows up hidden in certain parts of the game when someone could die. I always think of him as the Curator though.
The daughter dialogue at the beginning is a double edge sword, the King expects the general to justify the murder by arguing that if it wasn't because of the plague he would still have his daughter and that this is a way to avenge her loss, but it also gives you motives to not kill her because, as a father, the last thing he would want is for that pain to repeat, more so by killing a girl that resembles her so much :b
Yess so happy you’re playing this too. I’m watching John and Sean’s play throughs as well and love how you’ve all made slightly different choices in some places and have seen different dialogue options and different documents etc. Really shows the replay value these games have !
I love seeing the animation and textures of the characters get better with every game :D Dialogue is still corny in places, but I think that's become part of the charm of the series! Can't wait to see where this all leads!
For what it's worth, I don't think you're childish by saying you feel uncomfortable with the backdrop of war. It just means you're empathetic and care a lot. :) It really doesn't make it easier with the derogatory, racist, and sexist comments that comes out of the characters mouths. If no one has mentioned it yet, when one of them is holding what looks like a trading card, it is that. US intelligence created terrorist playing cards and dispensed them to the military, that way they would know the various leaders/terrorists that were wanted.
I find it hilarious that Gab, Sean, and John all (at that time) unknowingly played the guessing game of "Siblings or Dating" round 25:33 (roughly speaking) and all voted the two characters to be siblings😂😂 I assumed the same tbh😂
@@SapphireDragon357 😂 I appreciate your “I would hope” bit 😂 The game itself, just kinda perpetuates the whole “spend enough time with someone and they’ll start to look similar” aspects of relationships and it’s hilarious 😆
27:40 "Is that the same actress again from the second game, from 'Little Hope'?" It's the same character model, but not the same voice actress. Caitlyn Sponheimer was the voice of Tanya/Taylor, while Clare McConnell is voicing Clarice. Merwin, Jason, and Joey, all look like the same character models as Danny, Joe, and Charlie, from 'Man of Medan'.
Character face models that have been re-used (that I’ve noticed): Joe (MoM prologue), Jason (HoA) Charlie (MoM prologue), Daniel (LH), Joey (HoA) Danny (MoM), Judge Wyman (LH), Merwin (HoA) Taylor (LH), Clarice (HoA) Junior (MoM), Kurum (HoA prologue) Feel free to add your own!
I think another one is Alex (MoM) and Nick (HoA). If their faces aren't the same, they seem very very similar. Also, the main baddie Olson (MoM) is the same face as Balathu (HoA prologue).
Another thing I was thinking about this anthology...was that maybe they started out with hallucinations/psychological reasons for the story because they need to start slow. To avoid the dreaded shark jumping that is, sadly, inevitable. You see this in movies and TV a lot- the story's starting point is baseline. If baseline is immediately demons, zombies, and evil witches...well, pretty soon you end up with what I like to call "One-Uppage Syndrome- AKA "Charmed, season 5" 😂 Fairies, literal gods, even damn leprechauns, ffs Because it needs to keep one-upping itself, to keep a series strong, you gotta start small and build it up. My guess is they're planning on doing a long series (not just 3 or 4), where every season features a particular sub-genre of horror. Starting with non-supernatural thrillers, and slowly progressing toward the more supernatural. That would be cool.
AH the Vampire Diaries conundrum. Where they started with like werewolves and vampires and then had to progressively make up increasingly improbably dumb resons for why the enemies this season were actually "EVEN STRONGER" than the original hybrid vampire werewolf or whatever 😂
I come here from John Wolfe's playthrough! John basically went straight for the chaotic evil choices, I'm glad to see the lawful good playthrough of Gab's, lol.
Spoilers for the other games in the DPA: At 43:18, the paper talked about Manny Sherman’s death. That was “The Beast of Arkansas” that drove Munday (the killer) over the edge and that was graverobbed by Munday in “The Devil in Me”, the next game in the DPA. Interesting that they put a reference to it here.
Okay 1) I love when I get surprised that this series/ company has a new game. They are always intriguing and I love how Gab does her three playthroughs. 2) I kind of hope that there are Easter Eggs to some of the other games. I know they are all separate storylines but I would not mind seeing like someone cooking in the kitchen and then commenting about a fire or dialogue about a witch hunt or going to a ski lodge for a get away on the mountain. Something funny even about running around in a towel or spending all day in the bathroom. Just something that subtly references the other games that you could only pick up on id you have played them. 3) Ashley Tisdale, wow that is a blast from the past. I have not even thought about her since I found out she produced/ starred in "Young & Hungry" but that was a couple years ago
So far, I am only seeing that they repeated character models. Dr. Clarice is the same character model they used as the girl who you choose to choke on her scarf and hang herself or I think stay inside and be burned alive. I remember her demons either being charred and smokey but on the ground or levitating with a broken neck.
The character model for Nick was also the guy in Until Dawn who, for lack of a better term, a bitch of a girlfriend. I don't remember any of their names b/c it has been forever and half since I have played the other two but it looks like they used the actual actors when filming this game. They were probably wearing motion capture suits or CGI face masks because you can see Ashley Tisdale in her character right away. Good to know they have familiar actors from pervious games in this one
*sees Sean's video on House of Ashes* "Oooooo does that mean Gab is going to upload soon?!?" and I wake up to this. Today is going to be a good day :) *grabs coffefe and eagerly awaits spooks*
Hey Gab! Do you think you could move your facecam to the other side for the next videos? It covers up the relationship stuff and it would be nice to see that. So happy to see you playing this btw!
Fun fact: adultery is a major crime in the military. So it getting out would cause them to be deranked, or dishonored. So the cheating would be a MAJOR scandal
And yet soldiers cheat on their wives at home by raping trafficking victims in the country they're deployed in. They even get away with it because the army covers it up. So tell me again how adultery is oh such a big crime in the army? As if there's even an ounce of moral in the army.
Not saying you're wrong at all, but that was pretty much everybody's reaction after the last not one, but two games both ended with "And it was allll in their heads OoOoOoOoOoOo spooooky" :D
I've seen this one finished and now spoilers but I will say you're in for an interesting ride! I liked it more than the last two so that's something. I'm certainly looking forward to Gab's commentary because she always has very intelligent and thoughtful insights.
Out of all the Dark Anthology, and the illegitimate one "The Quarry," my favorite monster-wise is Little Hope because one of them is customizable and how the characters have to interact with them in that game. Also how you get character arcs with unlocking the good traits. However, my favorite lore-wise is House of Ashes. I love how they unveil the creatures and the depths of the story but also how close all the characters interact with eachother. Not to mention, there are some impressive deaths when Gabs does her Kill all playthrough
Watching you play is so much less stressful because we make the same decisions. I watched John Wolfe's playthrough before this and he pretty much made every opposite one, haha. He always went for the most hostile/aggressive reactions and interpersonal relationships and it was very anxiety provoking, lmao.
Just finished Jack's playthrough so naturally had to check to see if Gabby started uploading hers. Curious to see how different she plays it and what ending she gets.
Smothering Merwin was a mercy, compared to what the creatures would have done to him, and yeah, there's no way I can see him living anyhow. Like Joey, there are some you just can't save.
Because of the 4th one coming out I've gone back thru and watched the man of medan and little hope playthroughs and now I'm starting this games series all here on only your channel Gabs! Thanks for making these great horror games fun to watch! I am definitely inspired and convinced I have to switch to PC gaming.
I played this myself and I saved 5 people. But after I finished the with good ending game. The extreme ending got me full of anxiety, You will understand overtime and then since don't feel like playing all over again. Still I feel like uncomfortable. Be cautious because a small mistake in extreme ending part could lead to everybody's death if you mess up which will make your entire gameplay wasted and soo much frustration. Won't spoil it for you but just remember to be focused and never panic.
lol at 16:16 when he puts his sword away to shake the other guy's hand, a glitch happens and he's still holding the sword when he first reaches his hand out
I love that they give us characters that are part of the team but we do not play with them. That way, we have little to no influence on what happens to them so they still die or get captured or whatever and you still feel bad because they are part of the team.
Exited to watch your walkthrough. I have the same opinion about the wars, people have been fighting since we born, and I hate it, but it almost impossible to prevent when we have wrong people behind the wheel.
Yeah, but hearing them talking about the WMDs makes my stomach churn since we now know for a fact that the US lied to start that war. I'm worried the game won't make it very, very clear that the Americans were the bad guys before the end of it.
what gets me is that the female models look so much more... dead eyed and animatronic-like than the men. Is that because the guys have like.. stubble and big helmets/sunglasses to cover up a lot of their faces? lol. I dunno. Neither of the women look quite right, Clarise doesn't move right either and it's really jarring. I don't remember it being this bad in their previous games but I suppose the previous games had the benefit of intense dark, snow and fog and such to obscure things.
I couldn’t put my finger on it either, so odd that it’s just those two characters that have that uncanny feeling though. I never noticed it in a previous game, and I’ve already watched a different full play through of this game and I found myself HATING watching ashley tisdale’s model move around as time went on… it is so damn uncomfortable hahaha.
I literally was laughing out loud cause it looked like Ashley Tisdale was cross eyed and her elbow joints were immovable. I couldn’t take it seriously lol. At least they gave her sunglasses.
just finished watching sean play, hope to see more of the story from your version now since he apparently didn’t do great at finding the story bits, plus see your reactions! it’s the first one of these games since until dawn that i’ve even wanted to watch multiple people play which is nice!!
I can't say how much I love your videos. Your every single playthrough series are my favorites. Now this series is together with Sean's at the same time, I can enjoy it better. Like in Resi 8.
I'm watching your's and Sean's play throughs at the same time and since you started later then him I'm connecting so many dots on events happening. I just hope they don't ruin the ending like they did with the last two games.
When the music came on when the curator was walking in I was looking down and moving my head back and forth and then looked up to see Gab doing the same haha love it
I love that they have used that same Khemmis song in every game of the Anthology. Not only does it make it feel like an anthology series, but Khemmis is just awesome and seriously deserving of more recognition (though doom metal isn't the most popular of genre's sadly).
The reason Joey said ' why the fuck did you have to go and do that' to Merwin is because Merwin got him to look back, which we learned just before, is believed to cause bad luck in the army, which also explains why Joey kissed his cross afterwards
I must be in the minority then because I loved the endings of the first two games. They felt like adult takes on Scooby Doo mysteries! I loved watching them and trying to figure out the twist before the reveal!
I guess. I just really hate the "It was all in your head" explanation when time travel witch reincarnation/final destination type shit is SO MUCH COOLER. Or like "ohhh its the GAAAAASSSS" like ...ok? But we could have had Zombie spirits...or like ancient weird curse. I didnt mind in Man of Medan, but Little Hope made me SO ANGRY with its dumb fucking twist. (Im still apparently mad😂) But Im glad people enjoyed it! Its good that we all have different opinions and takes even on things like games

Dude: *gets whacked with a buttstock*
Gab: He was a bit rougher than I hoped. I was hoping to give him a little "pshh"
I love seeing the animation and textures of the characters get better with every game :D
Dialogue is still corny in places, but I think that's become part of the charm of the series! Can't wait to see where this all leads!
Honestly I like the silly dialogue😂 like its so iconic
"Its just a prank, Han" lives rent free in my head still.
Sees new totem and immediately think of Courage the Cowardly Dog.
"Return the slab!" 🤣
You're a real one
Ashley Tisdale plays Rachel! xD that's amazing, what a blast from the past
Ooooh! No wonder she looks familiar!
I find it hilarious that Gab, Sean, and John all (at that time) unknowingly played the guessing game of "Siblings or Dating" round 25:33 (roughly speaking) and all voted the two characters to be siblings😂😂 I assumed the same tbh😂
Considering they introduce Rachel making out with a guy, I would honestly hope most people would think siblings first before cheater.
@@SapphireDragon357 😂 I appreciate your “I would hope” bit 😂 The game itself, just kinda perpetuates the whole “spend enough time with someone and they’ll start to look similar” aspects of relationships and it’s hilarious 😆
Honestly I never even considered it😂
I saw Ashley Tisdale making out with Nick and as soon as I saw "King" my brain went "AFFAIR"
I'm so excited to see the differences in your choices to Sean's. Your playstyle is so much calmer and thought through. 😅
27:40 "Is that the same actress again from the second game, from 'Little Hope'?"
It's the same character model, but not the same voice actress. Caitlyn Sponheimer was the voice of Tanya/Taylor, while Clare McConnell is voicing Clarice. Merwin, Jason, and Joey, all look like the same character models as Danny, Joe, and Charlie, from 'Man of Medan'.
I love that you play these games 3 times ... vanilla, good, bad. So entertaining to watch.
Watching a second time ... love the curator. We need to see him more :)
Character face models that have been re-used (that I’ve noticed):
Joe (MoM prologue), Jason (HoA)
Charlie (MoM prologue), Daniel (LH), Joey (HoA)
Danny (MoM), Judge Wyman (LH), Merwin (HoA)
Taylor (LH), Clarice (HoA)
Junior (MoM), Kurum (HoA prologue)
Feel free to add your own!
If baseline is immediately demons, zombies, and evil witches...well, pretty soon you end up with what I like to call "One-Uppage Syndrome- AKA "Charmed, season 5" 😂 Fairies, literal gods, even damn leprechauns, ffs
Because it needs to keep one-upping itself, to keep a series strong, you gotta start small and build it up. My guess is they're planning on doing a long series (not just 3 or 4), where every season features a particular sub-genre of horror. Starting with non-supernatural thrillers, and slowly progressing toward the more supernatural. That would be cool.
AH the Vampire Diaries conundrum.
Where they started with like werewolves and vampires and then had to progressively make up increasingly improbably dumb resons for why the enemies this season were actually "EVEN STRONGER" than the original hybrid vampire werewolf or whatever 😂
these kind of games I find the most interesting to watch since everyone has there own way of thinking in each scenario
I come here from John Wolfe's playthrough!
John basically went straight for the chaotic evil choices, I'm glad to see the lawful good playthrough of Gab's, lol.
Spoilers for the other games in the DPA:
At 43:18, the paper talked about Manny Sherman’s death. That was “The Beast of Arkansas” that drove Munday (the killer) over the edge and that was graverobbed by Munday in “The Devil in Me”, the next game in the DPA. Interesting that they put a reference to it here.
thought i was the only one who noticed haha
I feel like Jason is the kind of character that if you play him nice he’s a really good character, but if you play him mean he’s the worst
I was waiting for the same too, lol.
This is exactly how I reacted too lol
Hey Gab! Do you think you could move your facecam to the other side for the next videos? It covers up the relationship stuff and it would be nice to see that. So happy to see you playing this btw!
Dark Pictures have made some pretty good story telling filling a void, at least for me, even if the choices are never what we expect them to be
Fun fact: adultery is a major crime in the military.
Sean and Gab : WE WANT MONSTERS.
I love them so much.
Not saying you're wrong at all, but that was pretty much everybody's reaction after the last not one, but two games both ended with "And it was allll in their heads OoOoOoOoOoOo spooooky" :D
Supermassive: Don't Worry we've got you covered this time around.
I've seen this one finished and now spoilers but I will say you're in for an interesting ride! I liked it more than the last two so that's something. I'm certainly looking forward to Gab's commentary because she always has very intelligent and thoughtful insights.
ive been rewatching all the older dark pictures games after seeing devil in me, and that manny sherman detail is so cool!!!
Love that you and Sean are playing the same game! It's nice to watch your different play styles and the different choices.
Ah yes, this is exactly what I needed before falling asleep. Not going to fuel any nightmares, no...it'll only make them more...interesting.
Watching you play is so much less stressful because we make the same decisions. I watched John Wolfe's playthrough before this and he pretty much made every opposite one, haha. He always went for the most hostile/aggressive reactions and interpersonal relationships and it was very anxiety provoking, lmao.
1:07:47 is no one gonna talk about Gab's "JASON"... I actually laughed out loud. Such a blast from the past. Loved Heavy Rain!
this is one of those games where its not that scary playing it, but later on at night especially if your out for a walk it creeps up on you
Literally just finished Sean's 2nd episode and now you upload too, my eyes need a screen break haha
If anyone’s looking for the intro song, the song’s called *A Conversation With Death* by the band *Khemmis*
🤘🏻🤘🏻go forth and rock my peoples🤘🏻🤘🏻
I really love those minimalist edits
Really add to the charms
Just finished Jack's playthrough so naturally had to check to see if Gabby started uploading hers. Curious to see how different she plays it and what ending she gets.
Smothering Merwin was a mercy, compared to what the creatures would have done to him, and yeah, there's no way I can see him living anyhow. Like Joey, there are some you just can't save.
me not over the "Jason!" Heavy Rain reference 🤣
soooo glad to see your playthrough, Gab! been eagerly waiting, and was absolutely not disappointed~ 💕
Man I thought this anthology game ended. Kinda glad it’s still going despite its lukewarm receptions
Hearing supposedly Iraqi characters speak Egyptian dialect was very strange. They could have done some extra research.
Realizing they got both Ashley tisdale and Brenda song. Someone at this company is a sweet life fan
OMG ASHLEY TISDALE??? YOOOO. Super cool
Excited to see these other voice talents as well!
1:07:48 got me good! Heavy Rain easter egg fits the theme of this game nicely
There are a lot of returning actors it seems. Even Eric King used to be the cop in little hope who talks to the bus driver at the beggining!
So happy I can always count on Gab playing every route in those games ☺️❤️
what gets me is that the female models look so much more... dead eyed and animatronic-like than the men.
It’s why I can’t take any of these games, excluding Until Dawn, seriously. Everyone looks like dead-eyed mannequins. 😂
watched devil in me before this, manny sherman is the murderer that munday investigates in that series, very cool little easter egg
just finished watching sean play, hope to see more of the story from your version now since he apparently didn’t do great at finding the story bits, plus see your reactions! it’s the first one of these games since until dawn that i’ve even wanted to watch multiple people play which is nice!!
So hyped! I’ve avoided all other playthrough’s waiting for yours!
16:16 Balathu just feigned putting the sword in lol. It's still in his hand in that frame when he reaches his hand out.
I’m so excited for this to have an actual paranormal/not psychological ending, bc this is looking amazing 🤩
even tho its the same game, i love seeing different people play it, so many different perspectives.
I did NOT expect Ashley Tisdale of all people to be in this 😭
The reason Joey said ' why the fuck did you have to go and do that' to Merwin is because Merwin got him to look back, which we learned just before, is believed to cause bad luck in the army, which also explains why Joey kissed his cross afterwards
(Im still apparently mad😂)
But Im glad people enjoyed it! Its good that we all have different opinions and takes even on things like games
Am I the only person who grabs tea/coffee and curles up in bed, or on a sofa with a blanket, and excitedly watches these longer-length games like they're movies?? Because it's honestly one of my favourite things to do!
just finished jack's playthrough, now ready to binge gab's and see how many characters end up dead
i’m going back through and watching all the dark picture anthology series and noticing how many models are the same! like the girl at the beginning who could have been that guys daughter, i’m pretty sure that was fliss, as well as nick being brad in medan as well, ALSO jason was the soldier you play as in the beginning of medan, and joey being the second soldier in medan AND the boyfriend in little hope, just like clarice and the other guy being in little hope. there are soooo many
Gosh, Gab's hindsight is spookily amazing.
I think out of all the Dark Anthology games, The Curator is a fan-favorite but character-wise I think Salim is one of top-tier characters
"Good throw... I guess."
😆 Look at Gab, supporting her coworkers; even when she's not sure she agrees with them.
I really don't like how this game gives you paragraphs to read but will yank you out of it if you don't hurry up.
Also watching John and Sean play this! I'm so excited to watch your playthru :)
