I always think of black metal as a genre with great melodies which get "dirty" with an enormous distortion, a bass that follows the guitars and makes its tone deeper, and fast loud drums. A mix of pure beauty and pure chaos, such a particular genre...
These are actually very beautiful melodies but other people hear black metal as "rubbish" or "noise". I'm so sad that others can not hear what I hear in these. Thanks, great video!
i don't like the drum beat in most of black metal songs i like black metal songs like Ulver - Capitel I or Burzum - Dunkelheit in these songs they don't play that drum beat but in Ulver - Capitel II after flute part they use the drum beat i am talking about.
@@assasinpatates8066 Most of the times, I like drums a lot in Black Metal. I don't like Dunkelheit for example, it has a beautiful riff also but it feels like they tried to suffocate the rithym with noise. Good amount of distortion serves well but if it's too much, it doesn't sound good.
This was beautiful. Hands down beautiful. Too anyone who doesnt get or like metal. Listen to this. This is metal. This is what metal is. Just different instrument.
Supposedly, that's how Darkthrone writes all their songs first, before goignto electric. Fenriz is often quoted as saying "If it soudns good on acoustic, then it'll sound great on electric.' or "If it sounds great on acoustic, then it's good enough for Darkthrone."
@nick the metalhead I love both acoustic and electric…. Both have unique qualities and can give a good whole other vibe and can make show a song in a different light…
This is Armageddon, classical style🤘. Very pure and simplistic, you've captured the true tone of Nordic Black Metal and made it readily available to a public who otherwise can't appreciate the dark beauty within the notes of the music. Well done, Sir👏👏👏. Take care.
Haha you got me there! Paused the video, googled for Kyteler - Do Not Pray, listened to the song, came back and finally realized it is your band. Really nice video! I'm not too much into that kind of black metal anymore as I tend to need a decent production nowadays to really enjoy it, but presented like this it's beautiful. And I think I will revisit Winterfylleth in the next days.
Great stuff Simon. I've only got an acoustic guitar with me since I'm working in Norway for some months and I've been doing the same. A lot of black metal tunes sound great on acoustic
Always said to my non-metal friends that they'd be pretty surprised by the melody of BM if they could only hear past the distortion! My personal fav for an acoustic rendition would be the end of Key To The Gate by Burzum. Absolutely beautiful melodies in that song.

Pretty much how it sounded to me in my teens when I started a solo BM project and had only an electric guitar but no amp. just much quieter. The upside was that I could hear the melodies and harmonics better rather than drowning it all in distortion (again, in your teens when you're playing metal you crank up the distortion pedals to 11).
Damn, nice to see Sola Fide I getting some recognition. Really I think that riff is among the best in all black metal, especially the way it's utilized at the moment it is, the way it is in the song. Really spine-tingling.
Thumbs up before the video even started. You should perform at a local coffee house and start half the show playing normal acoustic songs then half way through break out unexpectedly into a black metal frenzy and go completely crazy. Would love to see the reaction.

What I love in black metal is how behind all the distortion you can hear the sorrow of some of these melodies
Or bad ass surf rock 👍
It just shows how beautiful black metal is
Black Metal has the most unique riffs ever

Now let's go camping in a Scandinavian forest mountain
Adam Gordon The last time I went camping I woke up the next morning really sore and had Vaseline on my ass. I never told anybody though....
I'd rather be in the Carpathians forests and mountains.
Simply - Let's go camping. Anywhere!
summoning forest spirits with the boys
I thought i was the only person that felt like i was lost in a forest on Norway while listening black metal.
Damn, so sad melodies...
Really glad you included “Hans Siste Vinter”. Probably one of my favourite Darkthrone songs.
These are actually very beautiful melodies but other people hear black metal as "rubbish" or "noise". I'm so sad that others can not hear what I hear in these. Thanks, great video!
I relate to that. I will show them this video next time
Right. Black metal can be bleak and dark, but also astoundingly beautiful.

More black metal bands should consider doing striped back versions of their albums if they can sound this good.
some guys already did, but that's a little boring. by the way, seems Simon dissagree with you hhhhahaha

@@genzeuronymous7787 Ok.
It is interesting to see the little bits of difference between the Mayhem-inspired bands and the ones more inspired by Darkthorne, Burzum, etc...

Well, Black Metal in this case. Certain Melodic Death Metal songs would also sound like Folk Music or Classical Music when played on an Acoustic.

Acoustic guitar in black metal sounds so good. Wish more groups did it. The ones that immediately come to mind are Dornenreich and Vanhelga.

I love songs with out of tune acoustic guitars that sound like they just survived a explosion and 100 years of nuclear fall out
My band has been inspired to do an acoustic song cause of this video. Lilith nz check us out album in the works

For optimal acoustics, listen to this in a coffin, buried six feet under.
With funeral fog rising all around.

Check out Agolloch. They also use electric, but they use acoustic guitars in a really beautiful way
If it sounds metal on an acoustic then it is very metal indeed.
I always wanted to listen this kind of stuff. Clean black metal is definitely better than distorted and more understandable.
