I was surprised that so many reactors out there watched Scary Movie before watching Scream and it kinda ruined the opening for them. Fortunately, these reactors dd not watch scary movie first:

no copyright infringement intended. The movie is not mine, the reactions are not mine, only the hard work, time, and dedication of putting this all together is mine. I wouldn't call myself a hero, cause what's a hero? But sometimes, there's a man.... - บันเทิง
i am shocked that Ash noticed the two voices. i've never noticed another reactor point that out. if you have, please provide link.
all these Scream reactions, and it's Ash???
and kudos to you sir. 🫡
of course, he also said the popcorn was symbolism. 😎
EVERYTHING is "symbolism" to Ash. Except obvious ones like the color red in The 6th Sense. I find him insufferable at times.
@@selardohr7697 Ash reminds me of Steven Wright's dog..... a paranoid retriever..... he brings back everything because he's not sure what Steven threw him.
@@JuandeFucaU i love Steven Wright. "I poured spot remover on my dog. Now he's gone."
@@selardohr7697 "I was born by Cesarean section, but you can't really tell. Except that when I leave my house, I always go out the window."
It’s somewhat incredible that someone noticed a detail like that the first time at the very start. It was like Marty from Cabin in the Woods noticing all these minor details and clues but not knowing the whole picture just yet.
One of the best openers of any horror movie ever. The fact they killed their biggest star in the first scene was shocking at the time. '
Psycho reference
@@gamleskalle1 But even Janet Leigh got a bit of a story going first, so hers was even more shocking, but a homage, yes.
@@gamleskalle1 Psycho didn't kill Janet Leigh for 45 minutes, so not really the same thing at all
@@christianrunfola9461It's the same thing because everybody thought she was the main character of the movie.
@@sexysadie2901 its not, I specifically said the FIRST scene. 45 minutes in isnt even close
The tragic story of Wes Craven, the man who - sick and tired of being known just as the creator of a massively successful Horror franchise and its iconic monster - tries to dismantle the genre with a film that accidentally kick-starts _ANOTHER_ massively successful Horror franchise with an iconic monster. The man couldn't escape his own talent. 🤣
Well. At least he was respected for it.
R.I.P Wes Craven.
People now don't understand how much of a big deal it was to kill off Drew Barrymore, the biggest star in the film within the first 15 minutes. Horror had never done that before.
They did it with Psycho, and Janet Leigh was a much bigger star at the time than Drew Barrymore was in 1996. She wasnt set up to be killed at the start, wasnt killed until over 35 minutes in, so that was much, much more shocking.
Psycho did that.
@@paulinegallagher7821
True, but how long ago was Psycho?
And the point is it was one of the "shock" factors that lead to Scream being such an overnight success and single-handedly saving the "at the time" flagging horror genre.
pEoPLe dOn’T uNdErStAnD!!! 😩
Short Norwegian slasher Lebensraum does it too.
The look Casey gives when she pulls the mask off. I didn’t notice it the first time, but on a re-watch, you can see a look of recognition across her face.
I love it when she screams SUCK IT! After Casey got it wrong on the Friday The 13th question.😂😂
Ash: "That sounded like 2 voices!" When Hannah's not there, he pays more attention!
I am STUNNED he noticed that, and I didnt even notice that even though i have seen this film umpteen times. However, I am proud to say that I knew that there were two killers from the first time In the cinema as a 16 year old. I knew from the moment I saw Stu and Billy toying with Randy in the video store. The way they were looking at each other, and I already suspected Billy (the most obvious looking suspect is usually the right one; the more people say, it CANT be him, its too obvious, means it probably is him) and Stu, who nobody guessed, was way too wacky and apathetic to be innocent.
@@paulinegallagher7821 LOL, it's the Costanza Paradox from Seinfeld at work!! When Hannah's not there, more of Ash's brain is available for critical thinking & actual problem-solving! 🧠😂
@@louismarzullo1190 omg that was funny. 🤣
@@YoureMrLebowski OOSH!
@@louismarzullo1190 I totally agree with you............ because I'm doing everything the opposite..... Happy Festivus!
I like how Ash managed to find out that there were two people just by hearing the killer speak on the phone. To this day I never noticed that lol
i never noticed either. and i haven't seen any other reactor notice either. but i'm surprised that of all people it was Ash that noticed.
I saw this movie 3 times in the theater. Twice when it was released in December ‘96 and again when it was rereleased in the summer of ‘97. Younger people who may not have been around back then don’t know how much of an impact this movie made on the horror genre.
I graduated in 96 but was stationed in Okinawa when this came out. The only movie I remember seeing on base in 97nwas Men In Black. I saw Independence Day on the base theater in 96, during Comm School in 29 Palms. Both times were awesome movie experiences
@@rocknroller77 I also graduated in '96. I had friends stationed at Kadena on Okinawa but I only ever passed through there.
I saw it in the theater during Christmas break in ‘96. I had just turned 15 and I can’t believe they let me in without my parents. It was traumatizing, but I love that I was a small part of this cultural phenomenon.
2x in theaters back in the day, 1x during covid in a drive in, and once again in a normal theater again for the anniversary in 2021. :::holds up copy of the movie signed by Skeet and Matthew:::
Top 10 horror comedy
"Pick up the phone and call 911." Hahaha, I don't think that dude understands how screenplays and movies work lol.
I remember watching this in theatre's...coming out of the eighties with all the horror movies...we thought this would be another cliched movie we could laugh at it's cheesiness...Scream is a classic, iconic movie which will never be forgotten.
Manages to make fun of the whole genre, call out all the tropes and cliches, and still be a damn good horror film at the same time. That doesn't happen very often in any genre.
Ash and his "symbolisms" lol
The opening scene was on Bravo's 100 Scariest Movie Moments.
"That sounded like two people"🤫
I remember how huge this movie was back in the day. It was freaking awesome!!!
At the time, there were literally dozens and dozens of articles in newspapers and Movie Magazines, claiming that "Horror was dead. The genre had gone stale."
Then, this movie came out in 1997, and it changed everything overnight!
Suddenly, Horror movies were "cool" again. It reinvigorated the genre for decades to come.
For those who never got to see this movie when it came out in Theaters, I could never explain its imapct to you! It was that amazing!
First, the opening scene...
Never had we watched anything like that before. Not to mention, they killed off THE most famous actor in the movie within the first 15 minutes. That just does not happen. Ever.
But then to have the multiple twists and turns, the way the movie was shot, the surprise(s) at the end...
It all worked!
I got to see the movie on the 2nd weekend after opening, and it was PACKED! Thats the best way to see a movie, especially a Horror movie.
The audie ce was so into the movie, it seemed like we were all on the edge of our seats the whole time!
Still love this movie to this day!
It certainly helped to revitalize a one of my favorite genres, and we are still talking about its impact decades later!
Not saying Casey deserved to die, but... seeing Friday the 13th that many times and not remembering Mrs. Voorhees was the killer? I guess fight or flight reflex makes us all a bit dumb.
the pressure.
Here is just one reason Wes Craven has been a master of horror since the 1970's.
Saw this in theaters when I was 10. Scared the shit out of me.
I remember seeing this in the theater. Everyone was yelling, "The popcorn! Get the goddamn popcorn!" 😂
I'm so old that I saw this in theaters... it changed everything. For a while. Now, horror's just stilly jump scares .
It's funny how some of the reacters keep saying call 911 but the caller clearly told her they'll never make it in time 😂 n plus it's two killers watching her
Wait until they find out that the voice of Ghostface is also the voice of Mojo Jojo!
Holy crap, now I can't unhear it. "You play a game with Mmmojo Jojo!"
Everybody: Michael Myers! Michael Myers!
Toni: Jason! Jason!
😂😂😂
What do I know?!?! ….. 😂 - Toni
8:18 wow that guy should be a detective. I never noticed that before, and I am old and have seen this many times!
Reactions to this scene are always a good indicator on who had a landline and who didn't.
Just a headcanon of mind: I like to think the digital voice actor/vocaloid technology is so advanced that two high-school students could buy it in the 90's.
Sydney half brother gave it to them as he worked in the film industry

Roger L Jackson is phenomenal. Perhaps not as beloved as his identical twin brother Samuel but I love him.

Casey still could’ve stop the popcorn before that call
Still one of the best openings of a horror movie.
"To see what your insides look like."
"Not good."
💀🤣
I love how Scream was written partially as a "spoof" by Wes Craven, to show people how truly bad and cliched all slasher movies were at the time. In and ironic twist of fate Scream became the very thing it was mocking, an over the top, slasher movie with to many tropes to count.
Scream was written by Kevin Williamson.
Williamson* intentionally threw in a bunch of tropes to satirize the genre... it was supposed to be the very thing it was mocking. Why is that surprising to you??
@@jeezuschryst never said I was surprised just thought it was funny..., And yes Willimson did write it, but it was still under Wes's direction, and he defiantly had a hand in writing it also.
@TheBrother847 partially agree. The 4 first films always had so interesting to said about the state of horror movies at the time, and society in general. After Wes, they bacame what you said
@@TheBrother847 I think you’re right. In a more significant way than being correct. Williamson was the writer but yeah, Craven was the guy to take this concept to. He had written the book on meta at the time.
i like how mrs movies doesn't have a name
they've been really careful to not say their names
unless they literally are just Mr and Mrs Movies
One of THE best cold openings to a hirror movie... EVER!!!!
Homage to psycho with big star stabbing, and homage to Halloween when Casey's father tells the mother to run to the Mackenzie house to call the police. And all in the cold opening. Cool!
That was a crazy beginning to a movie!!! - Toni 😂
We loved this movie! Thanks for including us! We love your content!
Fun fact: Joaquin Phoenix was offered the role of one of the killers in the movie and he turned it down.
I love how much concern the popcorn gets by the reactors LOL
8:26 That guy is fucking sharp to notice that!
You know when you're really scared?
When you see something terrible coming at you and are frozen solid and can't even ...
scream! 😉
watched a bootlegged version when it first came out terrible quality but still one of the best nights of my life.
Amazing start to an entertaining franchise. Mr. Craven 💚
Amazing scene! Thank you! Could you do the scene where stu is scared of his parents finding out?
no that would spoil it
*Suggestion* -- if you want reactions to the best cold open ever - compile the reactions to the opening ~3 minutes of Mission Impossible III with Philip Seymour Hoffman.
That one was intense. That's a franchise that has routinely had awesome cold opens... that one stands out.
What happened ? Did the parents eat the popcorn ? 👨 🍿 👩 Hmmm, must be two killers.
I would give everything I have to experience this film in theaters, I bet those people who got to watch it in '96 had a blast! ✨
16 at the time as well... and everyone was expecting more of the same sort of clichéd stuff horror had become at that time. The cold open absolutely destroyed that notion. And the self awareness of the film made the actual horror parts even better.
Everyone is asking why she is entertaining the caller but this is the 90s people didn't direcrly assume the worst in every situation then lol
Fun Fact: during some takes of this scene, Drew Barrymore actually did dial 911. The Dispatcher on the other line even called back, asking why someone was dialing the number multiple times and screaming into the phone.
Top 10 horror comedy
why would she be calling 911 it's not in the script.
this is what happens to people who decide to keep their talk show going during a strike.
i took me a second but i figured it out. 😆
Everyone is so stressed 😂
Hello, everybody. In "Halloween", the killer was called The Shape. He wasn't called Michael Myers until "Halloween II." Oops!
Thank you wes craven 👊
Looking forward to more scream videos - especially hope you do a video for the killer reveal.
Oh the popcorn...lol..
I think people expect too much logic from Casey, which is probably a fault of casting, i.e. she looks like an adult woman, but the character is a teenager; it's hard for anyone to think clearly when terrified, but particularly an average teenager.
Awesome video.
Drew Barrymore before "Mamala"
First off I hope to see a video from when at the end when Sydney finds everything out. Second, i would highly recommend the first two seasons of the Scream MTV show.
that would spoil the movie
@@imbatman8472 if you're watching the video than I would assume you've seen the film...

8:53, 10:20, 10:37 Epic jumpscares
Isn't the first scream was based on some kind of true story where a guy killed a lot of people on a campus ?
Ted Bundy murdered three female college students in a sorority house in 1978, after escaping from prison. There was a killer inspired by the Scream movie but i dont know if he murdered college students, I would have to look that up.

Can you do one for the ending of "saw"
How About Training Day Where Ethan Hawke Gets into The Black Monte Carlo and Denzel Tells Him you in the Office Baby. After Halloween
Seems random given this video lol, but can you do the president's speech from Independance Day (1996)?
Everyone The Reason Why Casey Stopped Running Because She Is So Traumatised and Stress
People think they'd be amazing in these situations... but no one really can say until you're there. Being stalked amd terrorized in your own home. Being forced to play a game to save your boyfriends life. Seeing him gutted and die in front of you. That is a lot to put on a mind or a body.
@@mycroft16 exactly they think is Marvel or DC we have this in Saving Private Ryan with Upham and now is casey she can't control her body to do anything
@@harvey4512 God the number of people that hate Upham drives me insane. His character is meant to be us... the utterly inexperienced and unprepared audience member. I'd do the same damn thing as him. I'd freeze up physically and mentally and likely shit myself. I am at least aware of this. It takes training (which he had basic) plus being thrown into the deep end (which he was not). The others had spent years in constant combat. They were mentally able to handle the explosions and chaos and surrounding death while in the moment. His mind simply shut down under the stress. He would likely be better in the next battle and the next until he was able to switch off and function.
@mycroft16 like casey will stop running for a minute from Ghostface and Upham will have a nervous breakdown which is not their fault in both films. Back with Upham I've seen soo memes gifs and reddit about him which I dont like about
@mycroft16 I'm Very Aware and Sensitive as well to his actions apart from Everybody else. Everyone is saying to him like look war mate its just war and shoot him or the Germans which is not going to help him to learn. They all cared about is Tom Hanks every time

Scream is a brilliant movie, possibly the best horror since the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise, but the sequels weren't as good, up until the lates one.

Wasn't two people at the time broskie. But you obviously saw the movie before this 🙄
Who was the first killer in Friday the 13th Jason it's Jason Voorhees wrong I seen that movie 28 times then you should also have known Mrs Voorhees was the first killer in Friday the 13th Jason didn't come out until the sequel

Gotta love the dude patronizing his wife/girlfriend over symbolism a child could understand.
that's his sister and he says that every video
She didn’t see the symbolism. He also asked a question. If that’s patronizing to you, I feel sorry for you.
That’s his schtick 😂😂😂. Symbolism!
@envi7183 I Was Annoyed When Ashs Sister Called Casey a Fool For Stop Running Should Have Know She Was Traumatised and Stress😂
Its not patronizing; Ash is all about his symbolism and he was talking to his audience as well. And have you actually met Z gens? they literally need to be explained everything or they take it at face value.

Good grief people talk to much.
The reaction video genre is annoying, but that is literally the point of a reaction video. To exteranalize what they're thinking... otherwise, you're just sitting there watching someone's face for 13 minutes.
