One of the reasons why I love Magneto so much is because he's a living power fantasy for those that have faced injustice and for those whom seeks to protect others from it. But he always goes too far and it shows the need to balance justice with compassion.
He doesn't go to far honestly. Eye for an eye. The civilians in marvel are idiots who quickly and violently turn on the people who constantly help them every chance they get

Out of all the mutants, they should’ve killed off is sabertooth. He’s got no redemption. He’s unredeemable. Especially considering what he did to Wolverines family again.
First… I LOVE SABRETOOTH😂 He’s the perfect antithesis to Wolverine, no one else could compare or fit his place as Logan’s nemesis
Second… I think that instead of doing the Sabretooth clone war thing, I think it would’ve been cooler if they found a way to swap him and the Age of Apocalypse Sabretooth, who was a hero, then the original could have found his way back to get his revenge and we could’ve possibly got a great book out of his exploits in the AoA Universe while trying to find his way back

Rob. I just wanna take a moment to say thank you for that speach about forgiving yourself and moving on. I really needed to hear it.
I won't go into too much detail, but i lived an insanely violent childhood, nearly any form of abuse a child can suffer. My father wanted a soldier, but instead he got me, so he tried to beat his idea of the perfect man, the perfect soldier, into a little girl.
I went to a lot of dark places afterwards and lashed out at anyone who tried to get close. I pondered doing some of the worst things a person could do. Rage became the only emotion i felt comfortable feeling, and anyone and everyone around me became potentail enemy combatants.
I was a monster, even if i never acted on those feelings. I kinda knew it was only a matter of time until i did. Part of me even reveled in it, felt like i was more powerful than others because of it. . .
Deep down i knew that was all a lie, and after my uncle delivered his worst abuse on me and stripped me of any delusions of power and control i had, as he held me down and violated me. . . I felt that final snap, and was forced to make a choice. Do i become them monster, the demon, my family seemed dead set on making me, or did i turn away and find my own path.
In the end, i did turn away. I'm likely only a free woman, and not remembered as a villain by then public because of it. It took me another decade or so tomfinally get there, but i did.
Today, I'm finally happy. I married another nerdy woman, and we live mostly in peace raising and rehabilitating animals.
However, at times things happen that bring back those darker thoughts and feelings, and here lately I've been very bothered by it. I've wondered if i am still a monster, if i am just another evil.
I need to let those thoughts go, too. I suppose that means my story isn't over just yet.
In a way, its kinda comforting, ya know. I still have work to do, scars to heal. There is still path left beneath my feet, and I'm neither too tired, nor too old to walk it.

One thing about the X-Men movies that I never understood or liked was Magneto in the second movie. He had a chance to rescue Charles from Cerebro , but he just left him there and I never understood why. Weren’t they friends?

X-men apocalypse was that scene with his daughter dying
The fact that this story focuses on everything Magneto has done and been through really hits you in the heart his daughter Anja the names of everybody he's killed over the years the lives he saved.
Your Magneto videos over these past two days have been awesome. Makes listening to this story even more enjoyable.

I'm generally not a huge comic or superhero guy, but your story telling style has had me coming back to watch dozens of videos on a bunch of characters I didn't really think were cool before hearing some of their more interesting lore that most people don't know about. Just wanted to say thanks for making interesting comic/superhero content, keep up the good work! 👍
This one comic had so much story, emotion, depth, etc that it makes the MCU look like child's play. Oh my Magneto. This really just tied everything about Magneto together from the very beginnings. Amazing.

"I count" is a pretty important realization here.
This is a list of everyone who's died because of him. Because for all he's responsible for every name on there, he's also among the victims. His is still a life cut short by his actions and inactions just like everyone else's.
We far too often fail to extend compassion to ourselves like we would to anyone else. There are some absolute monsters on that wall, including the people who burned Magneto's family alive. "I count" is a moment where he sees the double standard. Where if he'd been looking at some other man who had his same story, who had committed the same crimes, he would still see their death as something wrong.

It implies that even now Magneto still can't face what he did, even here.
Wanda was already reseructed before Toad was put on "trial", but Magneto insisted that he still be exiled anyway. And why did he leave him there?

There's probably alot more names on those walls that were caused by magneto rather than in his name after all how many planes fell out of the sky when he used that EMP? How many life support systems were fried? Magneto is a cool character don't get me wrong but alot of people both fans and in universe don't really talk about how Magneto is a mass murderer.
I agree.This is a good story, Mags is a great character but don't look at Magneto's back catalogue of being a mass murder. Robs work is fine but i disagree that Magneto is all forgiven again. The scale is too far stacked to the negative. Bring on the reboot in July.
You should do one of those fan made what if stories what if those 20 million mutants got resurrected and turned on humanity, or what if the X-Men turned on humanity and resurrected those 20 million mutants, and it could be a slow takeover story I miss those what if stories you used to do like red lantern, Hulk, red lantern, wolverine, black lantern, magneto what if Nightwing became the Phoenix,
Not even right now, there are people who saw Ed Norton’s Hulk and still complain about the MCU’s Hulk.

There are two ways to take the Ozymandius poem, there is the "Behold my great works, arent they bad ass. You can't compare to me." And in reality they have all turned to dust in the desert.
OR... There is the idea that the destruction is his great work. That he Ozymandius destroyed this great kingdom. DESPAIR for he is coming and he is unstoppable.

I think its interesting where Magneto brings up his side of his compromise to Charles to establish a nation of laws. I forget the comic but Cypher speaks to Charles about how the nation has lost trust in the council, Charles comes to his senses and blames he went too far with his compromise and lost sight of his own beliefs.

Mickey is the Magneto of the MCU, so many have died in the defense of so many, but what have we lost? The old MCU was amazing and all of a sudden it was cool and in to be a nerd. There have been mistakes, but we have to have faith in tomorrow.

This was a god introspective from Max, he tends to shake off the death around him as chaff then places the loss to the act they stood to commit, nope the names are recorded and he knows everyone of them.

This current beating himself is very much the pendulum swing to the other extreme. He has spent so much time (decades, even as far as the comics are concerned) utterly ignoring the harm he's done and anyone he's hurt with the overinflated sense of entitlement & self righteousness of a total narcissist who's intentions may have started as revenge & a fight against injustice, but strayed past that a long time ago to being very much about his own ego. His current meditations of this wall of names is almost out of character (since the names on the wall are those who died, Wanda, Pietro & Toad wont appear on it, but given his treatment of them, they have more reason to be taken into account as those Magneto has wrong than most others). He would need to go this far in this philosophical pendulum swing to be able to get to some kind of balance (pandulum swing to the middle).
Magneto and storm have been the best parts of these books for like the past 2 years, I hope the MCU keeps that in mind

I thought Farouk was helping them on Krakoa a while back. Is he not the Shadow King any more. Maybe they will give the the Legion FX series makeover. That was awesome.
Honestly, Legion (FX series) was too damned good. I always thought of the Shadow King as this despicable monstrosity that humanity can become...
The TV show did that too but also made him incredibly human as well. But then, that whole damned show was about unreliable narration. Anything was possible and therefore impossible.
Ironically, most people who've followed the MCU slept on Legion.
Also, if the Shadow King is in the lower depths of the Pit/Oubliette... That would make sense.

From what I recall shadow king and Farouk are two separate entities. Shadow king was hijacking Farouk’s body. Farouk was brought back to krakoa and not the shadow king.
@@KhajitxiFarouk still had some ties but those were expunged in New Mutants.
To be honest, a lot of writers have said different things about the Shadow King and Farouk and whether or not they’re the same person.
I like the answer Vita Ayala did in their mutants run that Farouk was approached so early in life by the shadow king and had been the host for so long that, even when he was freed, he still felt trapped.
Magneto is one of the best characters that marvel has ever created both in the movies and the comics. His complexity and his character development are just a masterpiece!

Makes me want to watch Legion again, especially after that ending.
You know what would be a good magneto story? He's going all over Marvel universe gathering items from both friend and foe. He says nothing except he's righting a wrong. He'll basically create a cosmic device, one time use and bring back his daughter or to be accurate pull her from time the moment before she dies. Kinda the same energy as when Batman brought Damien back.
As a testament to how he is as a father. He allows the good guys to take him and let's his daughter go in the custody of the X-Men and while she is normal now she will get mutant abilities later.
