3 of the K Class were rebuilt in early 62 and were shedded at Norwood Junction but a directive from head office deemed them as unstanderd so had to be withdrawn immediately. The last one had only come out of Brighton works about 6 weeks previously. They were all towed to Brighton for scrapping.
