      @METhOdhowtoKilLnoObS Well besides the obvious feeling of freedom, my cat likes to sleep on my mousepad, so I can just pickup the mouse and move it wherever instead of bothering the cat and trying to fish out the wire from underneath him.

    I have both a G305 and a SteelSeries mouse, and I have to say the SteelSeries software is so, so much better than Logitech's new software. I find Logitech's so hard to use and confusing. SteelSeries Engine is completely intuitive and straightforward. This alone makes me never want to configure the G305 and play games with it. So I use it as a portable mouse for my laptop, since it's so small anyways.
    I wish reviewers would comment more on software because it's a major aspect of the device ownership experience. And I wish Logitech would change the terrible usability of their software.

    After my Logitech G900 failed due to scroll wheel collapse, I decided to go with a different company. Logitech seems to be letting their quality degrade these days. I chose the Steel Series Rival 3 mouse. I love this mouse except for one major fatal flaw. The weight, size, and feel of the Rival 3 is perfect for me. The fatal flaw? Battery life. The advertised battery life is a joke, and not a very funny one. Upon unboxing, I installed the two AAA Duracells included in the box. Less than 2 weeks later the mouse quit working. I tested the batteries and they were dead. So, I installed 2 fresh Amazon alkalines which tested full. The mouse quit working again less than 2 weeks later and, sure enough, the batteries were dead again. I tested those replacements today and, at less than a week usage, the battery meter indicates less than half of the charge is left. It's a great mouse that's way too power hungry.

    I've used 2 Rival 3 Wireless mice and there is some minuses: 1. Battery life is fake. Both mice worked like 250-300 hours in the most economical mode (bluetooth, high efficiency mode, lowest polling rate, lights switched off). If you use wi-fi connection - it works at most 150 hours. It eats batteries quite often. Also 2 AAA batteries have less charge than 1 AA battery + make much more waste in result. 2. Wake up time is very long - it takes like 5-7 seconds to connect in bluetooth mode and sometimes it does not connect at all due to driver problems (maybe that's my laptop problem, but it happens only with mice, keyboard and earphones work perfectly). 3. First one was retired because its wheel started to scroll up randomly when you scroll down and this is very critical issue in work and in games too (less than a year in usage). In second one there is a problem with something inside - it started making sound when you move a mice fast (8 months in usage). So the lifetime of the mice is around a year if you use it often (I'm using it like 10-13 hours a day, 7-9 hours work + 2-5 hours gaming). And you cannot open mouse to fix anything inside because you need to remove sliding surfaces. And that ruins surfaces totally, you cannot reattach them and there are no replacements in package. It is a good mice with a good shape but it was designed to die often so you buy another one. For example: I had a Razor Imperator (gen 1) mouse long time ago and used it for 4 years without any problems. It haven't even died, just its surface was too used to feel comfortable.

      I have a rival 3 too. I really love this mouse for the ergonomy, accuraccy, sober design and GG engine software. The mouse is perfect for FPS. But I agree with you, too much problem due too disconnecting, random unapairing, random latency bug sometimes, short battery life etc... I bought it 6 months ago, and unfortunally, my Rival 3 has stopped to work today and doesn't want to replug with the dongle for no reason. I searched on google, reedit, tutorials to find a way to repair... and I found many people who had to return the product to steel series for the exactly the same problem. I ordered G305.

    Had no issues with the G305 until the 2 year mark, past warranty. My favorite mouse to date, but the sensor started to skip and jitter intermittently. I put in my older Logitech M510 wireless mouse, and had no problems. So, decided to buy the Steelseries Rival 3 and see how long that lasts.

      My G305 had a bunch of issues since I bought it a year and a half ago. First, the light sensor for the DPI died within a year of using it. Following that, the usb dongle literally broke and the logic board was exposed. Tried fixing it back by putting some tape on it. Then the mouse literally got disconnected from the dongle itself and refused to connect with the mouse. I even replaced the batteries thinking that it ran out. But nope nothing worked. I contacted logitech as my mouse is still in warranty and they said that I might be eligible for replacement. However I haven't heard anything back from them after sending an email. Don't know if I should still try or switch to the rival 3 instead. What's ur take on the rival 3? I heard that it's battery life is worse than the 305.

    • @bertuzzi
      @bertuzzi 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nikhilkoganti yes, in my experience the g305 has better battery life. But I just use rechargeable batteries for the rival 3 so I'm not having to buy batteries all the time. I have also turned off the RGB so it improves battery life a little.

    One of the biggest electronics shops in our country has their own mice. One of them is a CZC Shapeshifter GM1000, if you're able to find it. Costs $65 normally, I got it for $52 (for some perspective, the G305 costs $69 normally, currently for $47, the SS Rival 3 Wireless costs $73).
    Ergo shape, pretty much an EC-2A, top sensor, 20m Omrons, good scroll wheel, perfect side buttons, RGB ofc, 72g, good enough glide, modular design (black&white options for the buttons/back cover and honey comb/full back cover), has it's own software and most importantly - it's wireless. With an integrated battery. For the price? It's the best mouse on our market, period. Anything bad I have to say about it is just nitpicking. The buttons are slightly wobbly (WAY less than I expected for a modular mouse), the battery really doesn't last long at all, but I can just plug it into the braided, light and flexible USB-C cable every night, so it's not an issue. You can't adjust the LOD, but it's under 1 DVD, which is amazing. You can't buy the battery separately, but there's a possibility it'll become available in the future. No bluetooth connectivity, but I couldn't care less.
    I've been searching for the perfect mouse for quite a while now, I hate the shape of the G203 and the buttons are just too light (doubleclicking is also present in-game). I tried an SPC Gear Lix and while that one is much better, it feels too light for me, the shape and overall design isn't ideal for regular use and the cable was still a nuisance. Great for arena shooters though.
    It seems I've finally found my perfect mouse, for regular use and gaming as well. I use it with the full back cover, it only weighs 2 grams more, saves on maintenance and I find the slightly heavier weight better for CSGO. There's probably a mouse in the US that has all this for $30, but for me, it's a life saver. 9.7/10. What was supposed to be a small, informative comment turned into a seemingly paid review, but hey, it happens. It's just THAT good.

    Hey Dimitri I have a bit of a conundrum with finding a cheaper mouse. My hand is pretty much made for the shape of the G502 and my issue is that most of the cheap mice in that shape have a "please ban me button" if you accidentally press it. I recently got a Gainer by Redragon and I think I had an issue with left mouse button sticking before clicking unfortunately. Like it would stick as I clicked and then after some force fell into the click. I'm going to send it back for a replacement to see if it was just a build tolerance mistake. The mouse otherwise is perfect and what I was looking for. Though if ends up not working what mice would you recommend?
    I have this Centrophorus and the shape of the left and right mouse buttons literally cause me pain. I do have large hands, but they are also more narrow hands. I can't really spread my index and middle fingers that far apart. Basically the purpose of the mouse is to have something I can use when my G502 goes out and I need to replace it so I can keep gaming. So can you recommend a cheaper mouse with narrow buttons? I was also wanting to try a wireless one. Maybe with AA if possible. Not sure if you will see this though thank you in advance anyway!

    Yes BT connection is a plus for 50$ wireless mouse, but we are talking about budget "gaming" mouse, so don't forget to mention that with bluetooth connection you are losing the 1000Hz polling rate for a standard 125Hz ;)
