Adding a DVD player was an amazing commercial choice but revolutionary? No. It was a much more powerful iteration of the original playstation. I had both consoles and also a GC. Didn't regret any of the three
PlayStation 1 was way more revolutionary in my opinion, just because of the deals that were in place and Sony got screwed - and then they made history. PS Vita is Still relevant today too btw. PS2 had a huge fan base…just a personal opinion though. Depends on a lot of factors. Dreamcast was a flop back in the day - but the console was great to be honest.
Gen 6 will forever be the best generation for consoles. 5 consoles to choose from (if you count the GBA), each with their own percs (Dreamcast let you browse the internet, PS2 was a DVD player, GBA let you play 3 generations of Game Boy, GameCube could play Game Boy games and had some of the most recognizable and beloved exclusives of the generation, and Xbox was the start of online play), and there were HUNDREDS of amazing games spanning across all five. WHY CAN'T WE GO BACK TO THAT?!
When I was much younger I remember creating discs for Dreamcast for people I knew that had all NES games and an emulator on them. Was amazing what you could do with their console and is likely part of what killed it since it was so easy to copy games and such.
in all honesty, the only reason the original trilogy doesn't work anymore is because Rockstar released a patch for all 3 that breaks them, they did this to force you to buy the definitive editions.

Sega didn't have DVD license to include the DVD reading capabilities.
The main thing with the PS2 over Dreamcast is that it had the best list of games. Great action games, shooters, sports games, adventure games, rpgs, racing games. It basically had everything going for it, a contender for PC gaming at the time and it finally got real competition with the Xbox.

This game isn't yet possible to emulate, because Flycast (the only actually good DC emulator) doesn't have the functions required to emulate some of the things in DCA3, which haven't been done before until this game was ported. You need real hardware.
You know who else just did something impossible!?
