That first wellington looked fantastic, especially at that price point. Wasn't as sold on the block of mince though, but considering the ingredients went into it you made it look as good as it likely was to get!
Wow! You can’t easily get Gordon’s ingredients in the UK??!!! I am surprised. I would think you would have all of that available. Great job as usual. Thank you so much 😂
Thanks for the idea! Ingredients would be easy enough to get, except I was shopping in one of the UK's budget supermarkets. If I'd have gone to a 'normal' shop I could've bought everything no question.
I actually liked the idea of the budget one more, because there's a lot more scope for adaptation and messing with it, I feel. Think I would've taken the mince apart, seasoned it with salt, pepper, garlic, and chives or spring onions, then shaped it into a "cannon" in the Wellington style.
I cut this part of the video right down, I seasoned it quite heavily. The mince was so moist I just smooshed it into shape. Didn't want to overwork it.
Well, I might struggle to find the Crepe and that type of bacon but I love the idea of making a “Wellington” on a budget. Cooking depends on creativity and location so this is amazing content. If you foray into Mexican Cuisine, I can definitely source those ingredients living in the southwest USA 30 miles from the border between countries 😉. Let me know if you want a salsa recipe 😂

Cheers CMW. I was happy with the mince version considering what it cost. Might be a fun weekend dinner with peas and gravy!

The traditional one looked delicious! The mince made me think of a smooshed burger. 😅 That's my name for the second one!
'smooshed' burger, a very technical name 🤣🍔

I'm enjoying shopping at a more budget-friendly supermarket as it forces you to be creative. Very happy to have a new salsa recipe!
