You are correct about land or Real Estate. We have purchased any land that was in distress. We have three pieces of land. The first was a 250 square meter lot near Das Marinas. We paid $8000 8 years ago. It is worth $26,000 now. We have a small farm in Bulacan. We paid 150 per meter 6 years ago. It is worth 1800 per meter. We paid 1800 a meter for 4000 meters last year. It is worth 2500. Can't find any savings accounts with those kind of returns. No headache or upkeep required other than putting up a fence. Just buy it and wait.
Juells speaks of the bureaucratic nightmares over there. Little did he know what was waiting for him. May you rock and roll through your next life, man. R I P
Yep the paper trail is crap here. Just to get the power on. 20 visit to this place ,that place. Getting titles of property. DNR then lawyer, back to DNR , then back to Baranggay, the to the mayor office then the engineer office. It's goes on. Noone here can work a computer and put it all together , that for sure.
imo, less riskier way to roll, build up your passive income in america, nothing too risky, and leave off your interest/dividend income every month, which is kinda a business in itself:) Save 10% of that every month for emergencies. One million$ in capital should be plenty enough! Lots of different investments pay 5%-6%-7%, not too risky.

Hey Juells.. I’m glad I ran into you. You built a beautiful property, with a lot of the electrical upgrades that I will be looking for when I build. I’m in the states right now, but I’ll look up the next time I head out that way. Take it easy and Merry Christmas.
Juells, speaking of money and boats.... since Critter Hunter's boat just sank seems like that's a frequent occurrences around the islands would be a good business, money no problem just barter.
If one is investing online and the numbers are in the $250K range...why on earth would you not invest in a Starlink system and a generator? Anyone who can invest $250K (or lose it) and not invest $2K to stay connected is digging their own grave so to speak.
Yes! Only do a piggery if You are going to use the piggies for your own meat supply! And keep it SMALL! So if your pigs get sick you don’t lose millions!
Man that’s a great looking house your building there. How about dropping some names of your roof truss supplier ? building a house in mangatarem… It’s driving me insane the way they do things over there…
I don't know how the electric is out that way though, but I would do solar anyway. I can get to Taclobon and back to our house in a day. She's north of Calbyog
Living here is a 2 lane system....on one lane is "vacation mode" lane of easy living, fun, relaxing etc... the other lane is being a resident business man in hell... a place that very rarely gets it right... so we do our best to stay in the first lane as much as possible. BTW we also have a place on negros.. take care
Your wife is very beautiful. 👍 I'm a day trader (currently in the US) and the thought of brownouts is terrifying. I pay for two internet services in case one of them goes down and I have my computers on UPS and my broker's trade desk number on speed dial in case I lose all power while I'm in a trade. Would a generator maintain your internet service during a brownout? Do the internet service provider facilities have generators to keep things running during brownouts?
That's a big maybe. Definitely cannot depend on local service provider staying online. I use the starlink satellite system available throughout the Philippines and have no problems using solar and UPS backup. After paying the equipment, the monthly fee is only about 50USD for reliable and fast internet service.
Yeah, day trading in the Philippines is all about the backups. Backup UPS for modem and phone charger, two cell phones (one Globe and one Smart) with good data plans. I use a laptop so I have a couple of hours when the power goes out. I use two brokers and keep the apps open on the phones so my lag is less than a minute, ideally. Living there has actually forced me to employ more CYA strategies (mandatory stop loss, take profit, etc.) because you never know what will happen. Our condo complex has a generator but power is limited. Looking forward to Starlink.
I have heard the same message about owning businesses in the Phil from many others. They have good intentions, but end up failing for various reasons. Sari Sari stores have such little margins, and you have to work 15 hours a day (6am - 9pm or even later). You have no life, and if you have someone else sit in that store, you now have to pay that person. Obviously they need to be very trustworthy. I have heard stories about piggeries where you employ locals, then you are told some of the piglets were sickly and had to be put down, but found out the local sold them. Same with owning a boat. You have locals do the fishing, well some of the fish was sold to others before coming back to shore.
NONE at the moment we are preparing for a civil war here in the states, we have a criminal a fake president to remove from our white house and nobody has any money here, at the moment.
We've been looking at the current state of things and the common sense projections and are already looking at just building up a dragons horde of funds, building a very simple house and raising nearly all of our own food and producing our own utilities in less risk adverse land, we figure the best way to make money in the Phils is to eliminate as much need for it as possible to begin with.
The American financial system is on the verge of a total collapse! It's going to happen, just a matter of how soon! What then? I'm on social security and so if that stops I will be screwed!@@screamdreamer
