    Probably worth mentioning that the biggest reason for this monthly option is to get a ton of people driving around adding to the massive database of info Tesla already has. The more it knows, the better FSD gets.

      Good point. And that may be really worth the subscription which can be cancelled. I'll try it for a couple months or whatever it takes to get some experience. BTW at $200/mo the breakeven on $12,000 is 60 months which is 5 years! Musk says Tesla will likely raise the subscription rate once it's in full release and we don't know if that will include raising the rate for existing subscribers but it could.

    i would be interested to see how it behaves when it comes into contact w another tesla in the summon feature. If both vehicles are agressive, then how to the Tesla's decide which one would take priority in a parking lot environment??? The car seemed to be fairly pushy and allow the other human drivers to back off so would be an interesting battle between the Tesla's as to who would back down, and if the car would reverse in the summon mode.

    Auto Park is meant for tough spots between 2 cars where it's also easy for the Tesla to create a "space" to park in, otherwise it should usually be easy/straightforward for the driver to park it themselves, so they don't really enable it for those (yet).

    • @LunnarisLP
      @LunnarisLP 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Helthurian well you can't expect any self driving car to drive like a guy who has been driving those streets for years. It's certainly usable for certain routes, but most youtubers actually decide to drive really hard routes to challenge FSD. Yes for e.g. a crowded inner part of a city with occasional constructions it's not quiet there yet, but I think for many daily drives e.g. from and to work it's already really good.

    I think the Full Self Driving subscription may be worth it to some people once they actually release the full self driving software. It will be able to self drive on city/suburban streets and not just the highway/freeway as it is in your car. Should be capable of driving itself anywhere with minimal driver input once they get it out of beta. There are videos of TH-camrs that are testing the FSD beta currently and it is impressive, not quite 100% yet though. Could be awhile before it is perfect!

  • @AaronMcFarland

    Stop signs and stop light recognition is easily my favorite (will note I purchased FSD for my car when I bought it). With Autosteer and stop light/sign recognition, the car will pretty much drive you on streets with painted lines.

    Tesla needs to fine tune the parking lot feature. For example, you approach another car at a corner of an aisle, and the other car stops for you first, (like at 9:55). It is then a delicate dance to know which car will go first. Sometimes the other stopped car wants to go first. Sometimes the other stopped car wants 'you' to go first. How will a computer figure this out?

    My car is a 2010 and it has the auto park feature for parallel parking only. Once instructed on how it works, it's honestly a walk in the park, I use that feature any chance I get, in fact I just used it yesterday in a rather tense situation, but knowing how and when to use it, it got me in the spot faster than I would've and I didn't hold people up as long as they probably thought I would. Gotta commit to it and trust in the cameras and sensors. I have to regulate the speed of the car using the pedals in my old car, but I know newer cars do it all by itself to some degree, I'm sure this Tesla is fully automated too. Let it do it's thing, it won't hit anything, even if it goes a weird way, it knows rule #1 is to not hit things.

  • @nycgags
    @nycgags 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I was happy paying $5k for EAP which had summon, autopark, nav on AP, and auto lane change. Summon comes in handy when someone parks close to you and you just want it to pull out 5 feet so you can easily enter the car. Auto lane change is a great safety feature using it outside of nav on AP, since it will only begin the lane change if it is safe to do so, you don't have to worry about missing someone in your blindspot. As you mentioned autopark requires a car on either side, never used it, easier to just park myself.

    Great start to the video Shelby "Why is it going that way?" LOL Cool that you tried it out, did not know Tesla had started a subscription service for AP. I've never been in a Tesla, so I have no idea about the experience...one of these days, maybe I'll rent one off Turo? At the current price, would take just under 5 years to get to the $10k flat rate. Definitely worth "testing" for $200/mo first.

    I've been testing it out the last couple of days as well. It needs a lot of work before I will be comfortable using it. It's very rough in its movements like merging onto freeways or turning off of them. I found the summon mode to be a neat novelty, but I don't know that I would actually use it. The worst part for me is when it came to a full stop at a yield sign and the car behind almost hit me. Needless to say, I removed it from my cybertruck pre-order.

    I agree! I would not pay for it again either yet. It had multiple issues and too slow to respond in most cases. We tried it out on our Model Y and it was fun, but I was so nervous sitting in the driver’s seat and it would drive way too close to the oncoming traffic on two lane roads. When I tried to take over at an off ramp, it didn’t want to let go and the car jerked and scared me. I never even tried out the summon feature, but maybe I should. My monthly subscription ends on Monday, so maybe I will try it out tomorrow. Fun video…thanks Shelby.

    intresting assesment of Tesela self drive.. i Drove 2020 Corolla LE with Lane Centering, Radar Cruise (which is really self drive) and was very impressed, very basic level and very stable. Amazing.

    7:27 "It was kind of aggressive about it" ... Since it is still in the beta stage, I wouldn't be comfortable using Full Self Driving mode on a routine basis. But, I did use your Omaze link and entered for the Tesla S. Still hoping for the Austin house too :) Best wishes.

    Useful "when it rains" - it NEVER rains in SoCal ;)
    But seriously - I have a narrow driveway and having car pull out would be nice, but the rest is definitely feels "beta". Thank you for an honest review.

    I cant agree more either hat you said! i think the features are amazing. But since this is a beta version, and some of its movements are a little bit jerky, so i feel like it is worth a bit less, but as the features improve this light change!

    What happens when you have 10 Tesla's trying to reverse at the same time? Which one will give the right of way? Or will they just smash each other in reverse?

    Thing is my 2012 skoda superb (european wagon) had an autopark feature with paralell parking (even being a manual transmission car) and it just used it's parking sensors to do it. So it's not a new feature, and it probably works on that car much better than the tesla due to less interference from less sensors. This coming form a current tesla owner, but regardless i don't think i'd ever buy the FSD since the roads are covered with snow 6 months of the year and roads are in pretty poor condition for FSD AI.

    I’m curious how accidents and what not are handled by the police and or the insurance companies when the car is in auto mode. If the car ends up hitting someone or something how is fault determined ?

    I just have the regular auto pilot and it stresses me at times. When I’m on I-10 and it bends before cabazon I freak out a little when I’m between 2 cars.

    Wath out FSD can be jammed. Uses simple cameda vision. Not encoded or protected.

    I tried a month of FSD on my Model S. I noticed it tried to stop at every traffic light, even with a green light. It was not for me. Thanks for sharing.

    I tried it on a busy street in Florida. The speed limit was 50 mph and when the car came to a blinking yellow light it stopped. It almost created a multi car accident.

    Lane changing would be useful for a semi or box truck. Sometimes it's hard to see the cars when your changing lanes. Sure Elon is probably working on trucks next

      It’s extremely useful for highway driving. We’ll see how full autonomy does on city streets. It’s hard to get right.

    I can park my SR+ in Brooklyn without any problem. And unless it knows how to double park a block away and come back and get me on the Brooklyn streets, summon is useless. The only thing I want is the green light chime. When I test drove the car had it. All the cars should have it as it isn't a control feature, but I'm not paying for that. We already have it on all cars in Brooklyn anyway, the car behind you is going to honk, and the driver is going to shout something about parts of your anatomy.

    i tried it with my cousin in an empty parking lot too and I guess it is pretty scary watching your car do that but one day it will advance to the point where we are comfortable and it works easily.

    Been in the same boat. Feeling like a moron having to go chasing after my car to get it out of the way when it got stuck blocking traffic. Very embarrassing. Now, will only use it in a very empty parking lot. I feel like it's rude other drivers to make them have to wait for this thing to figure out what it's doing. Plus, the fact that it drives on the wrong side of the aisle all time. Very cool feature, but still far from ready for primetime use!

    A lot will change when the FSD beta 10.x is released to the public. As of now it's enhanced auto pilot. Auto parking works best if you are driving below 5 mph and between two cars.
