There are so many characters and names so it's okay even if you don't recognize and remember them at a first glance! You will remember them as the show goes on and as their relationships, objects and lore get explained. So the only thing I can really say is just keep watching and enjoy the rollercoaster. 😁

I think the initial stage of aot has many viewers misconcept the show as a bunch of kids training to fight huge mindless titans. When the plot twists, deepens and widens you find yourself hanging. Every single detail matters, cos it always comes back.

I've been an anime love since i was in middle school(I'm 36 now) and i always thought i wouldn't be able to enjoy the show or movie if it was subbed but i grew to love subbed everything and am currently hooked on kdramas😊 But i get it. You don't want to miss the visuals while reading, but it does get easier over time! I hope you guys stick with it and pause if you need to. It's your reaction channel. you should let them watch the dub, lots of people talk bad about dub but i think it's best for people who are new to watching anime. with English shows, you can get more practice since you also hear the words but Japanese doesn't really have that perk if you don't know it.
Guys can you crop the subs so they stay on the screen when u take out the visuals? Because it gets hard to read when they disappear with the visuals and come back and stay just a few seconds, you can let just the bottom with the subs so we can keep up with what's been said in the anime since it's not dubbed
Somebody let this crew know that it’s OKAY to watch the English dub for story sake the first time round. I’ve seen this show 4 times all the way through now. Twice in Japanese and twice in English. Sub and Dub are both PERFECT

Don't be afraid to pause and read the mid show cards and clarify things. Especially since it's your first anime and maybe first show with subtitles?? It's pretty simple now but gets more complex.

I even would argue that Erwin’s last speech is actually better in English dub than in sub, and I’m not even an English speaker, it just hits way harder

I have never seen one person who disliked AOT once they watched like 10episodes..

"Gatchaman" known as "G-Force" or "Battle of the Planets" in the west got me started down that path when I was just 3. 46 years and almost 700 + anime related shows, OVA's, ONA's and films later, I can definitely tell you that English dubs have come A LONG WAY in that time. Just watch it in the language that you feel most comfortable with. It will make it light years easier for you to invest in this amazing story. Whoever sat you guys down to watch this show, that deals with a predominantly European adjacent cast, in Japanese, did you a real disservice. Change up before you get too far into the thing. If your watching this on Crunchyroll, HULU or Blu-Ray or whatever, just turn the English audio on.
Fun Facts: In the TV version of the episode, when Eren meets Hannes, the logo on Hannes' vest is shown as the logo of the Garrison, but then it is shown as the logo of the Scout Regiment. The logo is replaced back afterward, however, and this error was fixed in the Blu-Ray release of the episode 🤔🤔🤔 In the episode, the sheets of the three-dimensional maneuvering equipment are 4, when in the manga there are 6 🤔🤔🤔
@@CasualCat64 definitely not for this show. When they changed some lines it totally messed up some foreshadowing and callbacks because they didn’t know any future context. Isayama at least worked with the studios in Japan.
