Beyonce is from Texas, her mom from New Orleans. Her father is from Alabama...so she knows country and southern lifestyle. She has been delving into music that was created by black people but have not been represented. Renaissance act 1 was House Music which is a subgenre stemmed from Disco and Funk... Country came from the Old Negro Spirituals which also produced: Gospel music, Rhythm and Blues, Jazz, Soul. They were storytellers because that's how communication between slaves and freedom fighters was done...in code. Example: Wade in the Water. It was instructions to when and where to meet up for those who were escaping their plantations.
