      Clintttttttttt!!!!!!! I love you man. Do you know I actually had an MT32? I wrote quite a number of awful songs with it but had a drummer who was very much into Rush program the most incredible drum track with it. I'll send it to you if you want to give it a listen. We did it bar by bar and I still don't know how we managed to pull it off but it's ridiculous in a good way.

    I love that Amiga game list (and bye bye, Chris!). After I left EA as their in-house composer in the UK, I shared an office at Pinewood Studios with Richard Joseph, and I can remember he had recently worked on the music of Cannon Fodder and Sensible Soccer, and we started working on a few PC titles together during that 'transition' time, including Theme Park World / Theme Park Inc. (sequels to Theme Park.. me doing the music, Richard doing the sound), while I continued working on EA Sports games, etc. Very interesting times. (I can also remember Jon Hare coming by quite a lot to jam with Richard!).

    As someone who worked on a indie store as boxed pc games were turning into Steam code dispensers, you have no idea how often I had to explain why I couldn't buy them (even if with sone you *could* skip Steam altogether or why were some console games marked "no code" because it was at the time some games had features locked behind a one-use code.

  • @TrevKen
    @TrevKen 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    Computer Exchange started to reject peoples copies of games that require you to register a key decades ago. Since Half Life required Valve. Vintage times. Since then Xbox One tried to have users register games to accounts in 2013, but the public backlash was so big and they reversed it. So in modern Console gaming there is absolutely still a market for re-used games. CeX forever!

    Guardian is one of my favourite Amiga games, I encourage all you you to sit down and give it a proper play. It's a great arcade 3d open world shooter. Does probably need the accelerator to get best use out of it but I'd argue its the cd32s killer app. One of the few games that uses the full cd32 joy pad. I'd also put the cd32 version above the 1200 version for the outstanding cd audio.
    But speaking of the joy pad, the amiga fighter that always gets overlooked is fighten spirit. Uses the 4 face buttons and has a proper combo system for special moves (a lot of them copy sf2).
    I came to Amiga late with the 1200 being my first machine so perhaps I'm more invested into the aga titles but I do feel that people will often look to the older ocs/ecs titles as the only thing there was.

    Ahhh I know: we should make a list of all the games Chris professed to not having played during his tenure here, that would for a good 70-80 episodes on 005 Agima for him to work his way through 😂

    • @waswat
      @waswat 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I played pillars of eternity just after finishing a couple of other crpgs and I thought it looked good but the itemization was really boring and the storytelling was too descriptive (show, don't just tell, damn it!)
      Eventually I decided to drop it.
      Had way more fun with games like
      - pathfinder kingmaker,
      - pathfinder wrath of the righteous,
      - bg 1, bg 2, (and yes, later on bg 3)

    I will never understand people saying that Shadow Of The Beast hit boxes are not good, or that the gameplay is not good. Even worse, people stating "SOTB is just a tech demo, but also a bad game".
    Most of the times I found that those people are the ones that could never beat the game without a trainer, and they blamed the failure to the "technical issues".
    I managed to beat the game without any technical problems at all. Was it hard? Yes. Was it unfair? Nope. Every time I died it was my fault.

    Ive been using GAME since the early 90s when i had an Amiga theyve always been ok for me but on occasions i do look around if something is better priced. I found trade ins really useful as it allowed me to gain reward points which were better in value cause trading for cash i never bothered with cause it was practically peanuts then i could use them to knock down price on various consoles ive managed to get so i didnt have to pay full price its a real shame theyre discontinuing it but they did say you can still gain and use reward points normally via purchasing new games and consoles but not through GAME Elite which i never knew anyone use that.
    I dont get why Shadow Fighter is in the top 10 on that list that doesnt make any sense???

    Another game-genre absolutely nowhere near this "bizarre" Amiga list, of which I wasted weeks and months of my youth playing, would be: Supremacy, Millennium 2.2, Deuteros, and Mega·Lo·Mania... "We've advanced a tech-level!" 😁
    - I did play Supremacy on the C64 first. I have seen a semi-good MS-DOS PC port of Mega·Lo·Mania. But I have never seen Millennium 2.2 or Deuteros on any other system than the Amiga.
    - But then again that might just be me never being anywhere near an Atari ST (not by choice). Because I could easily imagine many of those games being equally as brilliant on the ST.
    Fun Simon the Sorcerer (1 and 2) fact: in the talkie versions, Simon was voiced by Chris Barrie... aka the ultimate smeghead; Rimmer, from Red Dwarf.

    AVP, Tempest 2000 and Raiden were also good games on the Jag. Yes physical games are definitely being phased out, but the Spectrum Next (being a modernized version of a retro computer) bucks that trend with physical and digital options. *spoiler* Aw nice touch having Wolf on there but sad to see Chris go.

    Powder Bed Fusion. Known by many names, powder bed melting is currently the most common type of metal 3D printing. These machines distribute a fine layer of powder over a build plate and selectively melt a cross section of the part into the powder layer.

      I get what you are saying, but even at my level of interest in 3D printing, which dates back to a time when one of the magazines I subscribed to - and I have an idea that it may have been so long ago that it was Amiga Format - became mildly obsessed with the Rep Rap project, I have only ever seen the occasional article on metal printing. Probably most of them in the accompanying 'magazine' to the weekly parts to build my first actual printer... the infamous V3!

      but I am a CNC-miller by profesion working with Fehlmann/DeckelMaho/Mikron milling machines, and then sometimes I have to do some post production on some 3D printed parts also to meet some precise measurements and better surface finish yet not really reached by 3d printing, and oftenly see 3d printers doeing metal on the regular two yearly based expositions and exhibitions around the metal fabrication industry.

    • @lasskinn474

      it's been around before repraps for home fdm.
      there's other non metal 3d printers too that work fairly differently from home printers and aren't likely to be home friendly for a while though, like inkjet style material deposition.
      there have been some efforts at DYI metal and nylon powder fusing printers though, but you can't really easily get around that it gets messy.
      you can also have pcbway(and other on demand) CNC things for you out of metal. it all just gets kinda expensive for hobby stuff really quick!
