This is one of the coolest things I've seen in a long time. The engineering behind it where you're using silicon bands and heat shrink for purposes they were clearly not designed for is ingenious. This whole setup is really clever and really well done. It's also very inexpensive to have multiple kits available to you without needing to buy a handful of pouches.
@875fps - Many thanks for your feedback on the Pocket Rack project. Having multiple specialized kits on racks was the topic of a previous video I did about creating a modular pouch, where each rack in the pouch has a specialized function. See: th-cam.com/video/RRDfjfRTiF4/w-d-xo.html . I think there are quite a few applications for these rack and their simplicity and low cost will make it easier for folks to try them out. Thanks again for posting.
I'm sure that there's some German executive, having to explain to the company boss that the sales figures are accurate, and they really are selling those micro pipe wrenches by the thousand in the USA and UK...
@photoplanet - Thank you for your post . That's so funny you should mention that. I've been wondering the same thing. I have noticed that some Chinese retail websites are now offering small "water pump" wrenches / plyers that specifically mention "EDC" or "everyday carry" in their product descriptions. So someone has noticed these products have crossed over to a completely different target market. Amazon has also noticed. If you do a search for EDC plyers, their listing come up immediately. Thanks for mentioning that.
Actually Knipex has aimed the Cobra XS at the EDC market. They had this "Oh shoot, damn what's going on" moment with the "Cobra 125 "a couple of years ago. They are not very good at milking that boom, nor are they very good at communicating with #EDC community. So far they haven't come out with companion products other than the XS pliers wrench or the belt pouch. No pouch line up, special editions, "XS rough" with thicker jaws, handle extensions. How about collabs with other companies such as Victorinox or TH-camrs and innovators like Earthling EDC.
I really……really would love for Knipex to make a multi tool version of the Cobra or pliers wrench with a knife blade, scissors, and maybe a bit driver that takes 1/4 bits on the handles.
I planned on getting the 4" cobra pliers since my multitools needle nose pliers didn't do well on trying to loosen a rusty bolt on my bike. Knipex (or Leatherman?) SERIOUSLY needs to make a folding multitool out of the cobra pliers. Once people see them, they'll sell in the millions since those pliers grip way better than typical multitool pliers.
I’ve gone down the EDC rabbit hole recently and this, while on the more extreme side of minimalism and size consciousness, is probably the most daring and innovative design I’ve seen recently. The different tool pouches are cool and there’s some really great options, but at their core they are just grooming bags with more strapping and webbing for tool storage.
@ericbader - Thanks for your post and thoughts on this video. I never though of EDC pouches as "grooming bags", but they do have some similarities and now I'm not going to be able to get that idea out of my head. Today one of our viewers (TH) submitted a new micro version of the pocket rack that can even fit into an Altoids tin. You can see it on our community page. It's VERY slick. Check it out at: www.youtube.com/@EarthlingEDC/community
What a cool idea. I have a pouch and not only do I fumble around for stuff but I also can't always remember what's in there because some stuff is not used very often. With your idea, you can see exactly what you have with you and even switch stuff out for different trips.
@d.Cog420 - Thank you for your post. The idea is to make an EDC organizer that makes it easy to find and deploy what you carry. The design is simple and open source and they are very easy to build out. Enjoy!
@jefferynordgulen4436 - Many thanks for your feedback. I works great. For more updates on making elastics for EDC checkout th-cam.com/video/ZFAsJPWSyP4/w-d-xo.html Thanks again for posting.
@theagent578 Thank you for posting. The rollers on our clothes dryer wore out and needed to be replaced. I used just the tools on the rack to strip the dryer down to the drum, do the repair and reassemble it. There is a time lapse at the end of one of my videos showing the entire process. My wife was quite surprised that I pulled it off :-) Most of the "saving the day" stuff is more like "improving the day. It's nice to be carrying something that might resolve some small problem for me, family, friends or even someone I've just met who needs a charge for their phone, band aid, Motrin, or repair a broken wheel on the last shopping cart. I was dog sitting for a friend tonight at their house and the dog's toy jammed while we were playing with it. I had the rack in my pocket and it was a quick fix with the Knipex. For me, those tools are just about reducing some of the friction points that life throws your way. Plus I like fixing stuff :-)
@donneff7356 - Thank you for taking the time to share your comments. I hope you will have the opportunity to build one from the STL file. If you do, send photos. Many Thanks
@skizzarz - Thank you for posting. I think the appearance of simplicity is also a major attraction, but since I actually have some insight into how much time has gone into the design, it's got some pretty cool engineering behind the simplicity. thanks again for your feedback.
@todd.Parker - Thank you Todd. I sincerely appreciate your feedback and enjoy your channel. I hope you’ll have the opportunity to try one of these out as an organizer for an EDC kit. I’d love to see what you do with it.
I fully agree with all the comments about the Rack - this is truly innovative and ingenious! Hope you’ll earn some out of this idea as you deserve it. And the fact you also released it as CC licence is something to be thankful for.
@JakubDowgird - Many thanks for your support. It's a very rewarding project to be contributing to and now that people are downloading the 3D file and building them out, I think we are going to start seeing some really interesting builds and new design ideas. Thanks again for posting.
@imanolfernandez6900 - I would highly recommend it for that purpose. Using it that way also gives you the ability to easily transfer all of the tools in that pouch into a coat pocket, a backpack, your car, a desk drawer , tool bag, bicycle basket/bag, Luggage or anything that you want to drop it into. Also, you don't really need a dedicated EDC pouch with all the straps and little pockets. I'm really amazed how much it has changed how I now carry. If you have not viewed it, I would recommend the video that I made on using a modular pouch with packet racks. See: th-cam.com/video/RRDfjfRTiF4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=px36Pz7jaFaJ-ZDD Thanks again for posting.
@jack.charlesc4750 Thank you for taking the time to post your thoughts on the Pocket Rack mini. I hope you will have the opportunity to try one out for yourself.
Take that, me who thought I should have gone to bed 20 minutes ago! If I'd listened to you, I never would have stumbled upon this brilliant video! I'm so sick of fumbling for items that have fallen over in my sling bag. This is an elegant solution
@Leron... - Thank you for your feedback. I started this project back in April and published the first video this past March. Since then, it has taken off with a great deal of support from folks who follow this channel. Checkout the community page www.youtube.com/@EarthlingEDC/community to see some of the incredible custom designed Pocket Racks that people have been coming up with . It's really ideal as a pouch organizer.. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
When you think it can't get any better! I would choose this setup vs a pouch anyday. This is similar to how i carry alot of edc in a criss cross elastic board then in my bag. Cant wait to purchase
@romeras600 - Thanks for posting. How tools are attached to each rack is definitely something I'm going to keep working on. What was featured in the video is much better than what we were using in the original design. I'm sure we'll keep finding new designs for those bands and maybe even some improvements to the racks themselves. Thank you again for taking the time to proved feedback.
@ditchstick - Thanks for being a subscriber and thank you for your feedback. It's actually been an incredibly rewarding experience building out the many iterations it has taken to get to where it is now. Now I'm starting to hear from people who are sharing photos of their builds and ideas to improve on it. It's very exciting to be a part of this and see how this project is progressing. Thanks again for posting and your support.
@JoakimBidebo That's FANTASTIC ! When you get it done and loaded up, please send me some photos at Earthling@newsphoto.com. Now that we are seeing more people building them, I want to start featuring them in upcoming videos. Many thanks for posting.
@leochen591 - Thanks for posting. Best of luck with you build. Be sure to email me photos at Earthling@Newsphoto.com when you finish it. I'd love to share them on the community page. Have a good one !
I love this idea, practicality and affordable! Thank you for sharing it. I just reverse engineered your design, and added some 1/8 inch holes in a grid across the face. I think threading a zip tie through some heat shrink would make a good pen slot. It's printing right now. I'll send a picture when it's finished. At some point I also want to make some out of aluminum sheet
@stevegosci - That sounds REALLY interesting. I would love to see some photos of the final version. If you are interested in sharing them, email them to me at earthling@newsphoto.com. I'll add them to the community page for the channel and use them in an upcoming video as well. Many thanks for sharing that.
Cool ideas! Have you seen Todd Parker's video called "Lightest edc pocket toolkit"? I think my pinnacle edc carry will end up being some kind of a mix between his approach and yours.
@simmonds6063 YES! I'm very familiar with that video th-cam.com/video/F3hIf5tTwbI/w-d-xo.html . @todd.parker is an excellent story teller and videographer. I've watched that particular video quite a few times. I would love to see you do that build out with the tools he suggested in that video and a Pocket Rack Organizer (PRO). His example utilized a wallet to hold the tools. I would suggest using the pocket rack organizer as the tool holder and then attach a a Lycra wallet pouch to the back as the wallet. To do that, you would need to use the standard size pocket rack that you can 3D print. I have information about the Lycra pouches and the STL file for 3D printing a standard size PRO included in the PDF file that you can download from the description for this video. I would love to see you do this build out. Thanks for suggesting this.
@damienlc8895 I sincerely appreciate suggestions and this is a good one. I'm a strong believer that every carry is unique to that person's needs. I can show what I'm carrying and explain why, but my circumstances will be quite different from yours. I'm planning on getting into more detail about the individual items in my carry and how they are getting used. I'm also looking for viewers to share their carries and get into the details about them as well. Thanks again for your suggestion.
@Zero_8347 - You are very welcome. I would highly recommend downloading the PDF that is in the description for this video. It's got lots of resources for making a pocket rack for yourself. See: bit.ly/MicroEDCOrg Thanks again for posting.
You sir are a genius and you have my respect, this is just brilliant, I've been looking for a better solution for my edc needs and this is going to work perfectly. Thank you for sharing it with the world, you make it a better place and I hope you continue to do so in the future. ❤
@Anand_Dzines Thank you for taking the time to provide me with your feedback. I'm glad this concept may fit your EDC needs. If you do build out a pocket rack, please send me photos. I'd like to see what you come up with. Thanks again for posting
@fredp1983 Thanks for the feedback. One of my goals for this project has been to keep simplifying the way the bands secure the EDC tools to each rack. The latest bands that you see in this video that are holding the larger items in place (Knipex plyers, Ratchet and bit extender) are using an elastic cord that has a nylon sheath that cover it. That cord is holding a larger black band in place against each tool. This system makes it possible to just slide the tool in and out instead of attaching and detaching the band each time the tool is removed and the reattached. This is a much less fiddly system when compared to what you see in the first Pocket Rack video that we published back in March of 2023. We'll keep improving it. Thank you again for posting.
@shakhirhashim - Thanks you! It's a very versatile way to carry EDC. For me it changed the way I select tools as well. I hope to have another video out next week. Thanks for posting. Your feedback is sincerely appreciated.
@SomewhereOutThere - Thanks for the generous offer :-) - I'm working on getting the website up and running to sell them. The other option is going to to take a look at this PDF document bit.ly/MicroEDCOrg , it gives the location of the STL file that is necessary to make the 3D Print, as well as a service that will print it for you. It also incudes a link where you can purchase the silicone bands that are used. Best of luck .
@nicolaricciuti1718 - Thank you for your post. It's been just over a year since we started posting pocket rack designs. I'm truly amazed how many new designs have now been contributed by the EDC community. I hope you will have the opportunity to build one out for yourself.
@jonniehanzel1768 - If you have not already done so, take a look at my video on creating a modular pouch, using Pocket Racks as eh organizer within the pouch see: th-cam.com/video/RRDfjfRTiF4/w-d-xo.html . The color coding you are suggesting is a nice twist on that idea. In an upcoming video I'm going to be building out a First Aid Kit (Boo Boo Kit) using a red Pocket Rack. It would be perfect for a color coded modular pouch setup. Thanks for posting.
@wadeussery8512 Thanks for posting. Quite a few folks are either making them by hand now or 3D printing them. There is more information about how to get them 3D printed in the description for this video th-cam.com/video/8qOcoZ2_-o0/w-d-xo.html. We'll also be selling them soon. Thanks for you feedback.
@brianmabin5947 - Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to share your thoughts on this project. Once you get your build to a place where you like it, I'd appreciate it if you could send some photos. I'd like to share them in some upcoming videos.
@brianmabin5947 - In the description for this video, there is a link to a PDF file that has info on the elastic silicone bands that were used. You will want the 2mm by 45mm bands that are listed in that doc. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
@@EarthlingEDC Yes thank you I found that after I went back and looked at the directions. I had previously emailed the instructions to a friend of mine who had the 3D printing machine and he did it within one day for me so I didn't look through all the directions until after we had our conversation. Thank you Yes I'll definitely send pictures once I have it all set up.
I like how you used elastics with covers. I've seen other edc racks, and the difficulty of putting the tools on and off just seemed to tedious. They had to remove the elastic band, then put it back on trying to hold the tool, and stretching the bands turned their fingers red. So, all that turned me off to racks. But the way you have it looks a lot smarter and more convenient to use.
@icephoenix1088 - Thank you for your post. There are two equally important components to have one of these; the rack itself and the bands that attach the EDC to the rack. Those two components need to interact and work together. We've gone through quite a few variations of both the rack design an d the bands and it keeps getting better. I think we have some upcoming design ideas for the bands that will be REALLY interesting if they work out. I hope to be featuring these in an upcoming video depending on how their testing goes. I like keeping the bands attached and just stretching them to insert EDC. Taking them off and putting them back on shortens their life fro the contact with the anchors. More to come...
glad to be following this, thanks for sharing the design and ideas. Brilliant stuff. The heat shrink idea is really where it goes from pretty good to quite workable. Just goes to show you what deep thought and synthesis of multiple disciplines can get you.
@michaelbuddy - I've got to say that the process of finding and developing solutions to issues that come up or look like they might come up, is quite rewarding. Finding a simple "a ha!" solution to a problem, in this case the wear to the silicone bands can be quite thrilling. Many thanks for your feedback. It is sincerely appreciated.
@ChristopheHanon-ki3ij - It has been really enjoyable working on this project and hearing back from people who have viewed the videos. Thank you for posting!
Thanks for checking out this video. In the comments section below, tell me what you think of the mini version that we featured. I reply to all comments and read everything posted. If you are interested in trying out your own Pocket Rack EDC organizer, there is a free file that you can download to get one 3D printed for yourself. The free file is for the slightly larger rack which measures 2.82" X 4.08". For detailed information on how to do that, see: bit.ly/MicroEDCOrg . The Pocket Rack mini is new and not yet available, but we hope to be offering it in the future. I'd like to once again thank my friend Sergio D. for all of the engineering and 3D printing expertise he has provided on this project. Enjoy !
Thank you for being willing to share the files! As soon as I saw this I was like "I bet its 3d printed and its genius!" Im definitely going to be trying this out!
@AD-dc6qd - Thank you for posting. I'm so glad you are going to try it out. Would love to see photos of the final product. I want to share them in upcoming videos. Best of luck with you build out.
That’s really cool. I was thinking of making a small (ish) edc tin to chuck in my bag and something like this might be really good to organize some of the things inside so it’s not all loose and banging around like a toolbox haha.
@qasd48 - Thank you for your post. For what you are describing you can also use the pocket rack without dropping it into a tin. The bands that we use to hold EDC tight to each rack are pretty secure and I have not had issues with the tools coming loose from normal use. That being said, it can also be used in a tin as an EDC organizer or inside just about anything that you can fit it into. I did post a video a few weeks ago about dropping one into a bag of prunes. ;-) Thanks again for sharing you idea.
I noticed that you didn't flip that pouch over in the beginning and show what was on the other side which is interesting because I have that exact same pouch. It's the Viperade VE1 EDC Multifunctional Pouch and I use it every single day. On the other side of that pouch three pockets and three bands which will carry all of that and then some including your most important wallet items.
@skitch8616 - thank you for your post. It's actually not the Vidperade VE1. It's an unbranded pouch I bought off of TEMU for $3. And you are entirely correct about the additional pockets on the other side. Another viewer had mentioned this when the video was posted last year. Here is what I shared at that time ... "In my last video I had shown a comparison between what I identified as a standard mini pouch and the new mini pocket rack that was featured in this video ( see: www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qOco... ). I used the dimensions of the large pocket on that pouch compared to the surface area of the mini pocket rack. A viewer pointed out that that particular pouch actually has another side that I did not show in the video. When you flip that pouch over, the flat surface area of that side has 1 large slide in pocket 3 small narrow pockets along with 3 elastic bands. When you include that side, it would effectively triple the flat surface area of that pouch to 52.5". (see photos) My purpose for using that pouch was to illustrate that the storage area of what a small single pocket pouch could have compared to the available storage area of the mini rack. The only mini pouch I had available to illustrate this was the one that I used. My intent was not to deceive, I was just trying to show how a small single pocket pouch might compare. My apologies if this illustration seemed deceptive. This was not my intent and as a result of this mess up on my part, I've got 2 new single pocket EDC pouches on order for use in future videos. I sincerely value the trust that viewers and subscribers to this channel have expressed through subscribing, watching and contributing to this project since we started on it in March of 2023. I take that trust very seriously." Thank you for your post
@duncdunc76 - Thank you ! There are some really interesting custom versions of Pocket Racks being produced by makers who are following this channel. See: www.youtube.com/@EarthlingEDC/community . I hope you have the opportunity to make one for yourself. Thanks again for posting.
@gabrieldawa6221 Thanks for your feedback. The micro version is only 1/10th of an ounce lighter than the free download. Which is roughly the size of a wallet. I would encourage you to test that one out first, before we start offering the micro version. I think you'll like it.
I'm absolutely going to put in a print my thing order and hit up temu for all the bits and bobs. 20 bucks for not having a 3d printer is a no brainer. I've paid way more for pocket organizers that don't do nearly as go a job. I love my alpaca but I think I may switch to this put my pop wallet back in action.
@RandomTuber782 - Excellent! Please please please let me know how it goes with your build out. If you can share some images with me, I'm attempting to include them in some upcoming videos. Thanks for posting
So far so good I think I have a pretty decent intermediate loadout until I get some more of the tools from this video. How does one go about sending you images?
This is brilliant .. Respectfully , But if you are going to compine both of them , by putting the organizer card in the pocket pouch ; then you will get to a design called "Oragnizer Pocket Pouch " .. It's basically a tiny pouch that fits in your pocket & have an all round zipper that opens the pouch like a small note book & inside it the tools are inserted in several elastic bands .. I think it's already being sold !!!
@tareksalah84 - Thank you for your post. If you want it to fit into your pocket, just load up one side of it and depending on what you carry it can be a pretty comfortable. If you want to load both sides of a rack and not use a belt pouch, put it in a coat pocket or a pack or any bag, luggage, whatever works for you. The compact 10 round shot gun shell pouch on my belt gives me the ability to easily pull everything out of it without removing the pouch. The empty pouch stays on my belt. For me that system works and also gives me the flexibility to easily access what is on the rack. Everyone has their own way of carrying their EDC. Right now this works for me, next week may be different, but what I'm finding if that the flexibility of these racks makes it easier to make those adjustments. I'm enjoying it. Thanks again for your feedback.
@tbip2001 - Thank you for asking. Yes, we've been getting so many requests for Pocket Racks from people who have downloaded the the free STL file, but don't have access to a 3D printer. We will test the market with some limited runs to see if there is enough of a demand. There are currently pouches on the market that will work with the two different pocket rack sizes we've made. Thanks again for posting.
@SigogglinJack - Thanks for the feedback. I subscribed to your channel. Really like the watch videos. I'm now seriously thinking of getting an EDC Casio to go with my manual Timex analog 🙂. Thank you again for posting.
@robertmills4980 Thank you for taking the time to let me know. I'd encourage you to download the PDF that is in the description for this video. It will give you access to the free STL file for printing a pocket rack as well as a location to get it printed, if you do not have access to a 3D printer. Thanks again
@jeskobendmann5166 - Thanks for sharing that idea. I like it a lot. This project started out with the pocket racks being individually hand made from ABS plastic and Kydex. Now it's progressed to the point where we have community members 3D printing customized designs as well as one recently submitted design that was laser cut out of Walnut. You can see examples of these posted to the Earthling EDC Community page www.youtube.com/@EarthlingEDC/community . If you decide to make one from a circuit board, please send me photos ( Earthling@Newsphoto.com ) Many thanks for posting this.
@@EarthlingEDC Hey fellow earthling! Thanks for the quick response. :) And I'm happy to hear you like the idea. I will definitely spend some more time thinking about this. Yes, I saw the beautiful walnut version (*chefskiss*) I'll check the community and will for sure send you a photo if I come up with someting. A circuit board would need some protection maybe with a resin pour... 🤔 Also: thinking about features to add to the rack like a ruler or wrench holes (you know what I mean?) I was reminded of those creditcard-multitools. Could also be interesting to figure out a useful(!) crossover between a pocket rack and a creditcard tool. Again: It's a really fun concept / platform. Looking forward to playing with this. 👋
@jeskobendmann5166 Thanks for the follow-up. I just wanted to give my 2 cents on the Pocket Rack (PR) compared to the SAK credit card tool set. I think both offer a lot of tools in a small package, but having used my PR for going on 10 months now, the ability to customize the tool set on the Rack for what is going on in your life, makes a big difference in how it gets used and how you start to trust it's capabilities to get stuff done for you. You don't have that ability with the SAK credit card tool set and the tools have limited capability to handle the stuff I want to be able to fix. Everyone has their own ideas about what their ideal EDC is. For me it's grown to be a nice little set of capable tools on a PR. Thanks again for your post.
Thanks for asking. Those are silicone O-rings. If you take a look at the description for this video, there is a link to a downloadable PDF file that list almost all of the items that were shown and how to get them. Thanks again for your post and best of luck with your build.
Wow this is a a great idea. I really wish I had a 3d printer. I may just cut it out by hand. You should definitely make these as I think they will sell well. Surprised I haven’t seen this already. I think the idea will spread like wildfire. What do you use for the bands?
@austinkokomainiac7352 - Thanks for asking. The bands are Silicone O-Rings. There is more information about them in this video th-cam.com/video/DYXzaFsPyKM/w-d-xo.html. There is a link to a PDF in the description of that video. It includes info about where to get the bands as well as lots of other information regarding the the items used on the racks, Download that PDF. I think you'll find it to be very helpful. Thanks for posting..
Just found your channel as I recently discovered EDC. Love the practicality and down to earthness. Love the idea of the micro board, and also that it’s compact enough to fit in pouch in pocket. Just one question, what make is the flat phone charger you use? Many thx from 🇬🇧
@15MinuteModeller Thank you for your feedback on the Pocket Rack. I'm glad you like it. In regard to the powerbank, it is made by TNTOR and comes in different sizes. The one pictured in the video was their smallest. I've enjoyed using it and it's IDEAL for EDC use.
@GunNut37086 - Thanks for your question. Pick which version you are interested in here: www.thingiverse.com/search?q=pocket+rack+EDC&page=1 . Download the free 3D print STL file for that design. Then download this PDF drive.google.com/file/d/1h61zaR4nQM11iIz0lRKAzsE7o6KybFIp/view . It contains instructions on where to get it printed. Your best bet would probably be someone local. The other key component for these are the elastics that hold everything in place. This video give details on what to use and how to make them. th-cam.com/video/ir9DbaY8P8Y/w-d-xo.htmlsi=pCQsBU3wnqA6AktI Enjoy !
This is pure GENIUS 👍😁 I can't believe I just discovered your channel after so many years of TH-cam EDC ! I haven't found anything this clever since I discovered MeZillch' s Altoids kits 8yrs ago !
@edwardfletcher7790 Thanks for posting. So glad that you did find us and I hope you will have the opportunity to build one out. I actually subscribe to @MeZillch . He's got a lot of very cool ideas in there. His Altoids tins are great.
@fairflower6934 - Thank you for your post. You can set up yours anyway you like. I just prefer using the Wiha double sided 1/4 inch bits. Others might also prefer the Leatherman Bit Kit. When you use one of these Pocket Racks, it gives you the option to set it up anyway you like. Enjoy!
@_.alex.- - Thanks or asking. The free STL file to make a 3D print is currently available under a Community Commons license ( see: www.communitycommons.org/ ) to anyone that want s to make a copy for themselves. You can download the file here: www.thingiverse.com/thing:6285608 . There is a link to a PDF file in the descrption for this video. It contains more information about the items shown in the video as well as where you can get one 3D printed for yourself. Thanks for posting.
@user-hk9du6px9x - Thank you for your feedback. It's been a community effort building this out over the past year. I think there are currently 6 different designs available on thingiverse.com and most of those are new custom designs that have been contributed by EDC enthusiasts that dabble in 3D printing. It's really great to watch this project evolve like this. Thank you again For your post.
@dashdigital5869 Thanks for asking - I actually did a video on that ratchet. See; th-cam.com/video/wwiQ6OYtT5k/w-d-xo.html there is a link in the description for that video that goes to the website where I purchased mine. I have no affiliation with that site, but the price was good :-) Enjoy!
@campfireleatherworks - These Pocket Racks™ come in different versions and are an open source 3D print design that you can download for free. Anyone can print one or customize the design to fit their needs. The only major restriction is that you can't sell them. There is a utility patent pending. To make one for yourself, go to: www.thingiverse.com/search?q=Pocket+Rack+EDC&page=1 and download any of the six versions that you would like to print. You can then go to a website like printathing.com, or a local 3D printing service in your area and have them make one or more of them for you from PLA (its a plastic). This PDF has more details on sourcing the elastics that are used with them. See: bit.ly/MicroEDCOrg and this video shows how to make the elastics bands that are used on the Racks: th-cam.com/video/ir9DbaY8P8Y/w-d-xo.html Enjoy !
@refaelgez - Thanks for asking. You can either download the PDF file to have a 3D print made for you, or wait a bit for me to get the new website up, where we will eventually be selling them. To get to the 3D file, go to bit.ly/MicroEDCOrg Thanks for your feedback.
@H880 - Thanks for posting. The cool part is if you compare it to the version that appeared in the first video back in March, it's improved dramatically and I can see it evolving even more in the future.
@experienceprecision5406 Thanks for posting. Take a look at all the photos on the Earthling EDC Community page. www.youtube.com/@EarthlingEDC/community . We are getting quite a few examples of new builds starting to come in and it might give you some ideas. A small Swiss Army Knife will fit perfectly in a horizontal format and the large can fit vertically. Send photos when you have yours built out. Thanks
@veritas.ve.42 - Thank you for your post. The size difference between the free STL 3d file and the mini Pocket Rack pictured in the video is 0.6oz vs 0.5oz. For most users the mini version is probably too small to start with. I would encourage you to start off with the regular size first and see how you like it . Looking forward to seeing how you set yours up.
@DrDennis - It's about the weight of the organizer and the tools you are carrying on it. For me, I would not want to carry a 10 ounce fully loaded pocket rack in my pant's pockets. That's just too much bulk. However, it's not bad carry in a coat pocket, waist bag, belt pouch, back pack, luggage any other type of bag it will fit into. You can also carry a a lighter thinner rack in your pants pocket comfortably by only filling one side with EDC items. It then can get down to the size of a wallet. For me, I like to have the options and compact design of a fully loaded mini pocket rack and a belt pouch. Thanks for posting.
@coreybaraniuk6843 - Thanks for taking the time to post. Those little cards are called Pocket Racks. Please take a look at bit.ly/MicroEDCOrg . That PDF includes complete instruction on how to get the STL file for free and where you can then get it printed if you do not have access the a printer.
@MrFlyrod7 - Thank you for your post. The answer is that we will be selling them as soon as I can complete the website. I'll post a video with more information, once the site is done. There is a free STL file that you can get to have someone print one for you if you don't have one. Download the PDF file that is in the description for this video for more information. I hope you will have the opportunity to try one out.
@albertorozco3652 The orange bands that you are seeing in this video are 2mm Silicone O-Rings for more information on them and where to source them, see the PDF file here: bit.ly/3IIFrEp . Thanks for asking
@chicoy12 - Thank you for your post - These Pocket Racks™ come in different versions and are an open source 3D print design, so anyone can print one or customize the design. The only major restriction is that you can't sell them. There is a utility patent pending. To make one for yourself, go to: www.thingiverse.com/search?q=Pocket+Rack+EDC&page=1 and download any of the six versions that you would like to print. You can then go to a website like printathing.com, or a local 3D printing service in your area and have them make one or more of them for you. This PDF has more details on sourcing the elastics that are used with them. See: bit.ly/MicroEDCOrg and this video shows how to make the elastics bands that are used on the Racks: th-cam.com/video/ir9DbaY8P8Y/w-d-xo.html Enjoy !
@omari5701 - Thanks for asking. If you take a look at the description for this video, there is a link to a PDF that lists information about the most of the items that are shown. I try to do this with all of the videos that I post. Enjoy !
I've just uploaded a fast and dirty video of my version of your Pocket Racks. The video is not very good, but it gets the point across, I hope. I don't have band to attach anything but this is just an exercise to show alterntives
@ehwash -Thank you for posting the video of your Pocket Rack design. I will post a link to it ( th-cam.com/video/wt2gk6b_iuI/w-d-xo.html ) on the Earthling EDC community page. Very neat design.
@lw1zfog - Thank you for your post. Think of it as a mini tool kit. The mini SAK is there to open boxes and maybe cut some paper and file nails. If you want it to have a larger knife, you can customize the organizer to fit your specific needs.
@aperturelabs8552 - Thank you, but I think the sound of my voice is highly dependent on the type of microphone I'm using when recording these videos as well as the sound system you are using to hear my voice. Thanks again for the feedback.
@apprenticegilligan1635 - Thanks for your post. We will be selling them. I'm working on the ecommerce site and have made arrangements with a company that does high quality 3d printing, to manufacture them and distribute them for us. There is a lot going on. We now have a patent pending. the name has been trade marked, the website is in the works, we've got a good manufacturing and order fulfilment partner. While all that is going on, our channel is seeing tremendous growth, so keeping up with posts has been challenging this week. I can say that we're moving forward and getting closer to the point where you will be ale to purchase pocket racks and their accessories online...
@pamereefwalter9816 - Thanks for asking. In the description for this video th-cam.com/video/8qOcoZ2_-o0/w-d-xo.html there is a link to a PDF that gives information about how to get one 3D printed for your self. That free file is slightly larger than the one that was featured in the video. Instead of 19.8 inches of storage space, it gives you around 24. I'll also be offering these for sale in the near future. Thanks for posting...
@nankhanna - These are new and we will be selling these eventually. If you would like to try out one that is slightly larger than this mini version, I would encourage to to checkout this PDF file: drive.google.com/file/d/1h61zaR4nQM11iIz0lRKAzsE7o6KybFIp/view It has quite a bit of information on how to get one printed for yourself if you don't have access to a 3D printer. I'll be posting more information once I complete the website where we will be selling them. thanks for asking
@Therealmongoose1 Thanks for asking. Yes, we will be. I'm working on the website now. We will be selling various kits, or you can download the free STL file to make one yourself, or have one made for you. For details, download the PDF file in the description for this video. Best of luck with your build.
@haukefrahmann7849 - Thanks for asking. Those were prototypes for a size that I'll be offering for sale soon. I wanted to see what people thought of them before moving forward on production. Keep in mind that the larger version is about the size of a wallet so it's still very small. The tools that I had in the video were selected for that smaller version. What I'm seeing from people that are building these out is that a larger rack would probably be a good place to start because it will accommodate more EDC items.
@haukefrahmann7849 - Thank you for sharing your Pocket Rack mod on Thingiverse. There are quite a few of them starting to show up. I like to see how it's evolving.
@B0ggl3s86 Thank you for your post. Ye, we will eventually be selling them from the Earthing.com website. However, These Pocket Racks™ come in different versions and are an open source 3D print design, so anyone can print one or customize the design. @frozenwalkway - I think there is something already available, did you try a search for "ratcheting bit extender". I'm seeing a few possible items, but have not looked at them in detail. Best of luck with your search
@gleblipin _ Thank you for your note. We will have Pocket Rack Kits available for purchase once we have the website up and have figured out what will be included in each kit.
I use my knife & my flashlight everyday so those fit into my pants pocket. I have never once in my 6 decades on earth required a mini tool set that I carried on my person to fix anything. Years ago I carried a Victorinox Multi tool for several years but found everything in the multi tool was readily available nearby in everyday life so why carry it? If I’m at home, my garage has ever tool known to mankind. If I’m backpacking I carry the tools I need in my backpack. If I’m traveling, my car has a toolbox. Motorcycling I carry specific tools for the motorcycle. Every activity has its own set of tools and none, other than my knife and my flashlight needs to be on my person..
@ynotjf - Thanks for sharing your experience with your EDC - Like you, I too have had 60+ years of using tools. I just got back from visiting my 90+ year old mother in CA and she had a long list of fixes for me to take care of around her house. My little EDC kit took care of most of it. A persons EDC should fit their needs and how they work. It sounds like you have the perfect set-up for the way you work and what you work on. I've got mine pretty well dialed in for the way I work. My kit will continue to evolve over the coming decades and I look forward to that. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts about your EDC.
Why don't you show the other side of the green pouch 🤨? To hide the three quick access slots it has? Your product looks good but the way you present it, especially in comparison to this pouch, is pretentious.
@dimitrispapachristou9706 - Thank you for bring this to my attention. You are entirely correct and I sincerely apologize if that example came off as being pretentious. There are indeed three access slots on the other side of that pouch. I was not trying to hide that, it appears to have been a failed attempt on my part to illustrate that the square inch volume of that large pocket on the pouch was less than that of the mini rack. There are similar pouches of that size that don't have the access slots that would have been ideal for illustrating this point, but I don't own any of them and this is what I had available to me. My apologies again if this came off as being deceptive. In future videos I'll be clearly calling this out when presenting an item for illustrative purposes. Thank you again for posting this.
@dimitrispapachristou9706 - As a follow-up to your previous post, I posted additional details in the community section of the channel. See: www.youtube.com/@EarthlingEDC/community . Thank you again for reaching out about that segment of the video,
This is one of the coolest things I've seen in a long time.
@dcs6500 - That's an interesting idea.
Enjoy!
That heat shrink idea is a great idea
@jefferynordgulen4436 - Many thanks for your feedback. I works great. For more updates on making elastics for EDC checkout th-cam.com/video/ZFAsJPWSyP4/w-d-xo.html Thanks again for posting.
Looks great, i would love to hear a story about your favorite moment saving the day by having such a quality and dense toolset on you.
Really cool. Thank you for sharing the STL and bill of materials.
@donneff7356 - Thank you for taking the time to share your comments. I hope you will have the opportunity to build one from the STL file. If you do, send photos. Many Thanks
love the organisation/efficiency of use and durability of materials
@skizzarz - Thank you for posting. I think the appearance of simplicity is also a major attraction, but since I actually have some insight into how much time has gone into the design, it's got some pretty cool engineering behind the simplicity. thanks again for your feedback.
Very cool setup, super organized and optimized
Brilliant idea! I would use it as an internal organizer for the pouch or a small pocket in the backpack.
This is brilliant ..period !!! All my respect for us edcier
Thank you again for taking the time to proved feedback.
love how far this has gone. excited to see how much more you can do with it in later designs. keep up the amazing work
@ditchstick - Thanks for being a subscriber and thank you for your feedback.
The rack is great. thx for video.
@gordonshumway9765 - Thank you for your feedback. It is greatly appreciated.
This a very nice idea. Thanks for showing.
@user-nj1pf6xo3n - You are very welcome Thanks for taking the time to let us know.
Exciting stuff, Sir!
Thanks for sharing all the details!
@ELaster1 Thank you very much. Your feedback is sincerely appreciated.
This is a really cool idea. Thank you for sharing.
@erichernandez2398 - Thank you for stopping by and your feedback. It is sincerely appreciated.
Think it's a great idea and hope it will fit my bag, printing one right now.
@JoakimBidebo That's FANTASTIC ! When you get it done and loaded up, please send me some photos at Earthling@newsphoto.com. Now that we are seeing more people building them, I want to start featuring them in upcoming videos. Many thanks for posting.
Brilliant! I'm going to print this and give it a try, thanks a lot
@@EarthlingEDC ill send them over!
@stevegosci - Got them and will be posting them shortly. Thanks for sending them over and I'm looking forward to seeing what else you come up with.
Very clever use of space, well done
@TheGrenadier97 - Thank you for you feedback. It is sincerely appreciated. I hope you have the opportunity to try one out in the future.
Thanks for suggesting this.
love your content. if i may make a suggestion, you should make a video about *what* to carry everyday, since your videos usually covers the *how*
@damienlc8895 I sincerely appreciate suggestions and this is a good one.
Pretty cool setup. Thanks for sharing
Отличная идея, прекрасная работа, спасибо.
@AlikKra - Большое спасибо, я искренне ценю ваши комментарии.
Great idea... bit fiddly but maximum economy...!
So brilliant!! Fits all in every situation..u deserve in my sub list..keep up the good ideas!!
@shakhirhashim - Thanks you! It's a very versatile way to carry EDC. For me it changed the way I select tools as well. I hope to have another video out next week. Thanks for posting. Your feedback is sincerely appreciated.
Take my money!! I need a link you buy this from you please 🙏🏼
Very clever solution! Good work bro!
@nicolaricciuti1718 - Thank you for your post. It's been just over a year since we started posting pocket rack designs. I'm truly amazed how many new designs have now been contributed by the EDC community. I hope you will have the opportunity to build one out for yourself.
Very interesting, i would combine it in my kit edc pouch, each rack in different colour for different purpose.
Este invento es totalmente genial y minimalista. Excelente video.
Muchas gracias por tomarse el tiempo de publicar.
I definitely want some of these when you start selling them.
1st time to see your channel, this was so cool to watch and I have considered something like this for years. I'm makng my own now, awesome idea!
@brianmabin5947 - Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to share your thoughts on this project. Once you get your build to a place where you like it, I'd appreciate it if you could send some photos. I'd like to share them in some upcoming videos.
@@EarthlingEDC printed yesterday. Can you link the silicon straps you used? I'm ordering today. I'll be glad to send you pics!
@brianmabin5947 Photos would be hugely appreciated. You can email them to earthling@newsphoto.com
Thanks for this idea Mr
@isvaraov Thank you for taking the time to post.
Smart idea - thanks for sharing
"In my last video I had shown a comparison between what I identified as a standard mini pouch and the new mini pocket rack that was featured in this video
( see: www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qOco... (see photos)
My purpose for using that pouch was to illustrate that the storage area of what a small single pocket pouch could have compared to the available storage area of the mini rack.
Super Cool and ingenious!
@duncdunc76 - Thank you ! There are some really interesting custom versions of Pocket Racks being produced by makers who are following this channel. See: www.youtube.com/@EarthlingEDC/community . I hope you have the opportunity to make one for yourself. Thanks again for posting.
I would use the PDF and make one myself but im definitely going to hold off until you make the Micro one.
Orders placed. Now I wait. Ended up getting heat shrink, elastic cord, Velcro, an adhesive phone pouch and the metal tin from temu.
@RandomTuber782 - Send photos to Earthling@Newsphoto.com
Good job and thanks🙏🙏
@Rooftopper - Thank you for your post. Your feedback is sincerely appreciated.
Are you commercialising this? You really should. Maybe laser cut from different materials. Also would love to see a slip pouch this fits into
@tbip2001 - Thank you for asking.
Very interesting idea. Well done.
@SigogglinJack - Thanks for the feedback. I subscribed to your channel. Really like the watch videos. I'm now seriously thinking of getting an EDC Casio to go with my manual Timex analog 🙂. Thank you again for posting.
amazing design
Glad you like it. I hope you will have the opportunity to use one or build one for yourself.
Very nice. Creative idea. Very interested
@robertmills4980 Thank you for taking the time to let me know. I'd encourage you to download the PDF that is in the description for this video. It will give you access to the free STL file for printing a pocket rack as well as a location to get it printed, if you do not have access to a 3D printer. Thanks again
Appreciate it and this would be available in New Mexico? Where I live
@@robertmills4980 Yes. I believe the company listed in the PDF offers U.S. shipping
love the concept! One could make it out of a circuit board and maybe even implement some useful circuits(?) 🤔
This is amazing!! Thank you!
@Yooper05 You are very welcome. Thank you for sharing your feedback.
What are the rubber band type things used inside the heat shrink?
Thanks for asking. Those are silicone O-rings. If you take a look at the description for this video, there is a link to a downloadable PDF file that list almost all of the items that were shown and how to get them. Thanks again for your post and best of luck with your build.

Wow this is a a great idea. I really wish I had a 3d printer. I may just cut it out by hand. You should definitely make these as I think they will sell well. Surprised I haven’t seen this already. I think the idea will spread like wildfire. What do you use for the bands?

@P-tricky13 It is a pretty fun little gadget. I hope you have the opportunity to try one out.
I'm convinced, where do I find these cards. My google searches are not finding them.
How about using 5/32" set of bits instead 1/4"? Its
@fairflower6934 - Thank you for your post. You can set up yours anyway you like. I just prefer using the Wiha double sided 1/4 inch bits. Others might also prefer the Leatherman Bit Kit. When you use one of these Pocket Racks, it gives you the option to set it up anyway you like. Enjoy!
Can you patent this design? Excellent and very inspiring!

Very smart! 👌
@user-hk9du6px9x - Thank you for your feedback. It's been a community effort building this out over the past year. I think there are currently 6 different designs available on thingiverse.com and most of those are new custom designs that have been contributed by EDC enthusiasts that dabble in 3D printing.
Thanks
Please share pdf for the 1/2oz organizer. Thank you.
You still need a pouch to carry the loaded card.
Where do you get those little cards with the cut outs?!
@coreybaraniuk6843 - Thanks for taking the time to post. Those little cards are called Pocket Racks. Please take a look at bit.ly/MicroEDCOrg . That PDF includes complete instruction on how to get the STL file for free and where you can then get it printed if you do not have access the a printer.

it’s all good, but when the $hit hits the fan, you’re going to need a bigger knife 😂

Sure wish some company sold the racks. For those of us who don't have 3d printers
@apprenticegilligan1635 - Thanks for your post. We will be selling them. We now have a patent pending. the name has been trade marked, the website is in the works, we've got a good manufacturing and order fulfilment partner. While all that is going on, our channel is seeing tremendous growth, so keeping up with posts has been challenging this week. I can say that we're moving forward and getting closer to the point where you will be ale to purchase pocket racks and their accessories online...
how does the size of the mini compare to a credit card? is the mini smaller, larger, or same size as a credit card? thanks!

is there anywhere a template for the smaller organizer? ... I just found the stl file for the bigger one
EXTRA NASTY
@WinstonWilliamsofficial - Thanks for your feedback. Not sure how to reply to that :-) , but you took the time to post it, so I appreciate that.
