I like the comments at the start about the welding door chart. I personally believe in educating oneself to where as a welder you know what settings you should be on and why. It is different if doing production welding with guys who are learning and doing the same thing every day but for job shop work I really feel learning your machine and the reactions to your actions and how's and why's of your settings should be important to learn.

Bob, it's alwayus great to watch your videos!! By the way, the peace sign is made with the palm out not palm in. Palm in means up yours or screw you, (WW2 it meant victory) just FYI. Keep your excellent informational videos coming. I'm 70+ and love to learn what you know and do naturally. Thank you.

@@bobmoffatt4133 I have a house in Minnesota and stay in California for the winter months (yes, I'm a snow bird). I bought 2 Everlast MTS welders because I didn't want to keep moving one 2200 mikes one way. I need to learn and practice more. Keep up the excellant videos. I miss the videos you, red beard and man cub made because they were fantastic learning videos. Thank you for what you know and what you teach.

I have my HTP 220 for well over a year now and done lots of aluminum , went a year using only 4 tips ,then one day 4 tips, what
happened,,,,, stick out that is what happened, welding 1/8 aluminum to 3/16 trying not to burn thru, but ended up with 492 inpmin
21 .5 volts with 5356 wire 035. So Pete were can I get the welding tables you have on your phone? I have been watching Bob and Peter from the first time you guys were on you tube, learned a life time of info from you guys, thanks a million you two.

👏👏both off you gentlemen are truly top notch in your fields. This video is right on time bc I’m contemplating an HTP pro pulse 220. I can’t decide if I should go with this machine or a fronius tst 2200. I’m not big on aluminum work but I’m intrigued with it. Thank you for the knowledge that you share and keep the content rollin

    • @ZILAwelds

Both machines are top notch European high quality machines.
Initial cost and power output are similar too.
If you are planing on mig welding steel (or aluminum) diesel fuel or hydraulic oil tanks then pulse ( even on steel) has major advantages….
The rest …. Is a lot of personal preference …. Color, brandname, etc …
Call both places, talk to people, ask questions … all sorts of questions, find out what consumables or spare parts cost…. And see how “easily” customer service is getting frustrated with you ….
Do stuff like this before you spend your hard earned money …!
      Then make your decision …
Thats what i would do…. But since you will be spending YOUR money and YOU will have to live with whatever machine you buy …. Maybe do what YOU want to do, not what i suggest …. 🤷‍♂️

      @ZILAwelds ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@mkearn724 you are very welcome. I have welded with both machine - I can give you first hand impressions (and I have somewhat) anything beyond my initial statement I would consider "personal preference" not objective reporting ... and because my personal preference and your personal preference might be different (or might not) YOU have to make a picture for yourself ....
I don like these guys who answer a equation similar to your yours like:" should I buy machine abc or xyz?" and then some guy answered ... :" you defining should tho this and that and the other" .... and then when I as he guy (the not who wrote the answer) what proctor did you weld with machine abc and which one did you do with machine xyz ? then the guy says - well I dont own both of them - and then 3 questions later turns out the guy does not even own any of the machines but didnt even weld a a friends house or a trade show with EITHER one for the machines in question ..... BUT has some "solid" advice for YOU how YOU should spend your money ...
In my mind ... stuff like this is going a lot on TH-cam .... and I am trying to be the change I want to see ....
Like I said - I welded with both machines (not equal trigger time) but enough to have an idea of what the machines are capable, and I stand behind - they are BOTH top notch machines ... and there is a fair share of "personal preference" ... down to not just the equipment level but also the team of people and company philosophy ....
I know a lot of people if I offer them free beer, they would be happy to take it ... I also know people who'd ask : "not bud light?!?" and then politely decline ... LOL. there is that element too ... you need to be comfortable with whatever decision YOU make for yourself ...
Asking others is a good start, int he end you are the only one living with the consequences of your decision ....

parameters are interesting for .035...using a Millermatic 252 with spool gun, on 1/8 groove welds, full bevel of included 30 degrees, I run 22.5 to 23 volts at 300 to 325 ipm....flat with 4043 or 4943 with push...for vertical fillet joints, I will run 23 to 23.5 volts and 350 ipm with same filler, vertical down.....1/4 inch to 1/8 lap/fillet 23.5 volts and 350/375 ipm...all with 100% argon......I use a .052 tip for the .035 wire.....and never have to clean spatter from the nozzle and never burn back on my tips.....we are running the machine on 208 volt service.....hope this helps, Paul 'Paulie' Brown from that other weld show.....by the way, the units I fabricate have over 30 feet of weld and about 400 different 1.5 inch welds on 1.5x1.5 inch tube, 6061 T6....P.S. I use about a 3/4 inch stickout...with less [1/2 inch] there is ore crackling, but as soon as you hit the sweet spot, the sound becomes a woosh sound and smooths out......tru axial spray transfer....I run with 40 cfh with pure argon with a flow meter.....P.P.S but when I run 5356 I t always gives me fits....and is very sluggish......I guess I need to run more of it and get used to it.......

if you have the right liner and a torch that is not too long you can weld without a spool gun.

Definitely can do good with straight mig wire feed just swap out wheels
