Karen Carpenter was in another league. She struggled with the ruthless demands of 70s showbiz and starved herself to death.

its so interesting how different the charts were in Europe comparing to the US in that time. There are some amazing songs and artists from Europe that time that Americans never heard of and vice versa! Right now everyting just blends together because of the internet and globalization

Going by the dates shown, I must be older than I am 😂 by about a year, up to 73 when I could get in youth clubs. I'd fail badly for the years in a 70s music quiz. And I did know every one of them.

G'day from Perth Western Australia mate! Eric Clapton's version of I shot the Sheriff rated better than Bob Marley's version, but I think Bob's version is better.

This is a very American-skewed model of hits. Personally 'The Hustle' is one of the first tracks I remember as a child.

Harry nillison wasn't Swedish he was American big mates of john lennon, harry sang the theme tune from the 1968 film midnight cowboy everbobys talkin.the beetles were asked who there favourite band was when in America john lennon said neillson, the ironic thing is neilson wasn't a group a solo artist,a friendship was struck up afterthat.they became close friends, they are famous for the lost weekend, when lonnon was shot & killed neillson campaigned for gun law change, harry had 6 kids but died early aged mid 50s,he said he had everything in life going for him except him.

You looked entranced by Roberta Flack's version of First Time Ever I saw Your Face. Should check it out some time. It was written by Ewan MacColl, who was the father of Kirsty MacColl (Fairytale Of New York)

They cut off my favourite song to early! You must listen to the full version of 'I am Woman' from Helen Reddy. It is an old school anthem for women. It's embracing womanhood! It's not about being equal to men, or making a mockery of women 😉
    "If I have to,
    I can face anything,
    I am strong,
    I am invicible,
    I am woman!"😊

You should review this video again in a couple of years after you've had a chance to react to some of the songs, then go back and see how many you know again.

Well this is the beauty of the British Charts and radio stations, we weren't throwing everything into genres. In fact I'd say that vid is based mainly on the British charts.
