Have had an EL7 for about 3 weeks now... absolutely loving it. I went for NIO's subscription for the whole car. (not just the battery BAAS) .. That's a thing in Sweden but no idea about the rest of Europe. I could not afford to buy or lease otherwise.
I have the el7 too now for 110 days. Freaking love the car. NIO is amazing 👌🏼

@bjornnyland The third wireless charger at the back arm rest is for the NIO Phone. When you put it there it turns automatically to a controller screen for the most of the car functions.

People are sleeping on this, ask Tesla owners with old teslas what happens to them

Yeah no - electronic actuators to move hvac vent direction is overkill (on all vehicles except maybe super luxury ones) and yet another unnecessary failure point and additional weight. What is wrong with simple manual controls?

There are many nice cars, but I feel they would look nicer if the screen is integrated as part of the interior. Now it looks like they build a car first then buy a pad and mount it in the car.
The idea with NIO is that in 5 years the screens will look outdated and then you are able to buy the latest screens from NIO. They sell hardware upgrades for older models.

Re: The re-name, Apparently Audi made a legal complaint in Australia (and other countries) that ES8 is too close to their RS8 and would confuse customers, so Nio changed the next one to EL8. :\

The EU proposes the following import taxes for Chinese electric cars:
-BYD: 17.4%
-Geely: 20%
-SAIC: 38.1%
The taxes for Tesla are not yet known: „Following a substantiated request, one BEV producer in China - Tesla - may receive an individually calculated duty rate at the definitive stage“

What is the percentage for Nio? It is not yet known how much the tariff will be for Tesla, and there are only three weeks left until the tariff comes into effect.

If only we have Nio and that model in Australia. But i think it is not profitable for Nio as they will need to built many battery swapping station which is going to cost a lot.
Australia has very big problems with grid stability because of the amount of solar. This is a thing that NIOs battery swap stations could solve.

In the EU data is sent to local servers following the data residency regulations.

any idea why nio sales in eu is so poor? high price or brand issue?
High price comparable to established brands and overall uncertainty about service and the future of a brand that is still losing huge amounts of money with no prospect of improvement.
