INFJ 4w5 here. When he started talking about how everyone else was playing a game he couldn't win, it was like he ripped the thought right out of my skull.
Many INFJs report feeling like "aliens" among people. The thing is, I don't feel like a space alien or extraterrestrial. It's more like I do belong on earth, just not this version of it. Another dimension, alternate reality, stream of consciousness, etc. Same place, same time, just another identity. It's hard to describe, but there's both a disconnect and a desire to bond. It's weird.

    Oh my, this!
When you make a fatal mistake, or when someone tells your conclusion is wrong,
while everything points out to that direction you feel very faulty and broken.
The funny thing is that you are right most of the time, but some people just like denial, and this makes us go in Identity Crisis Mode.
I really liked the discussion, I hope you do more!

@@danielkubicek9108 hey hi! how can you define this? have you done any analysis before? I say this because that's what a lot of people think about Frank James you know, but when you watch his more personal videos other than the humor videos, you realize he's an infj. I'm an infj and I didn't know he was it was an infj and when i saw someone saying that i went to see these more personal videos and i was sure he is an infj. he may have further developed his inferior function of feeling extraverted, he once said himself that today he feels a little more extraverted than before but I still feel he is an introvert.

I am 4 as well and the underlying neurosis is envy. It means to myself wanting what others have that I do not. It appears to me the cure to this is self acceptance and gratitude.
As a four I do feel different from others and have a hard time finding friends.

I'm not an INFJ (I think I'm an ENFP who feels like an INFP at times). But I think I'm a type 4 Enneagram, and it certainly makes me feel way more complex than people see me as. To an outsider I'm just a quirky, klutzy, sarcastic and dramatic entertainer. But internally I really am comparing myself to everyone, and as Molly said, everyone is either superior or inferior to me, and the way I view myself shifts constantly depending on who I'm with. It's an internal rollercoaster. People have actually told me I come across as warm, welcoming and "very" confident. Yet, I'm so incredibly insecure that I haven't asked a woman out on a date in 5 years! I keep thinking she wouldn't like me as much as "that other guy" she's talking to. Or, if actually may be interested in me, I feel like she either won't ever understand me because she only sees what every else sees... or I will just fail at the relationship... so why bother?
I think when I'm in a healthy mindset I'm very present with people and I DO feel confident in myself. I'm not in that self-deprecating state of mind 24/7. However, I don't seem to have control over when it shows up.
I also don't relate to the dark, brooding, and melancholic stereotypes associated to the 4s. But there's bad stereotypes for all the types.

I feel like I can relate to this comment so much. When I take the Meyer's Briggs test I come out as an INFP or an INFJ depending on when I've taken it, but inside like I should be more extroverted. My mom told me that as a child I was completely extroverted and that I liked to make people smile and entertain them. She told me that my personality completely changed after my father died and as I was abused by my adoptive father, I started to become even more withdrawn and solemn. So I believe trauma does affect personality. I feel like there have been times in my life when I'm doing well where my inner child has shown (or has tried to show) her true colours and I deeply this is who I believe I was created to be, but then I start to think there must have been a reason I went through the experiences I did. Maybe so I could learn how to be gentle, humble, compassionate? I'm not sure. I just know that I have often felt like I was either playing someone else's role or stuck in someone else's body and I hear you very deeply about the inner insecurities because I have these fears too. After trying to forge friendships and relationships and being rejected over and over again, it tends to make me feel skeptical about the idea of relationships and I naturally close myself off naturally as a means of self- protection. It takes an extreme amount of bravery to keep trying to open yourself up when each time you do you feel rejected. I think naturally I would most likely be more of an ENFP or ENFJ personality and I'm honestly not sure if I'll ever come around fully. So I understand completely what you are saying. I can relate so much to this. I wish the world were a place where we could all feel loved and safe to be who were created to be!

Definitely relate to what you guys were saying about feeling like you’re the center of your own movie, and 4s being a little stereotypically “self-absorbed.” I was like that to the extreme as a teenager. A little embarrassing to look back on. 😳 Ooh, and what you said about “self-parenting” and wondering what is wrong with you after hearing it as a child - that hits home for sure. 🏚

    *Sometimes I hate being INFJ.*
In my life, others' needs always came first.
Whether it was clients, co-workers, colleagues, acquaintances, friends, family or strangers. With my Fe (extroverted feeling), it was me empathizing, calming, analyzing, suggesting, coercing, counseling, motivating, planning, scheming (!), etc., for them. Whether it was clients, co-workers, colleagues, acquaintances, friends, family or strangers.
Maybe I was too good at it.
So, the rare occasion when I have a problem … I need to talk … (again!) I get the Fi (introverted feeling) response. Right away the other person lapses into a somewhat related personal anecdote or an entirely(!) unrelated story. Once again spieling out THIER problems.
With certain people I know I'll get no chance at all to talk about me.
It truly truly shocks me when somebody says to me, "Ray, how ... are … *YOU?"*
    Floored!
