Me too! I especially resonate with the possible mistype as an 8 (I can be very willful but this comes from a refusal to affirm situations/themes I know will drain me) or as a 2 (I think my empathy path skips a few steps and goes right into helping because I personally never need someone to guide me through my feelings, I would just want a show of support to help me clear space).
Thank you for an amazing video!

I am 90% sure I’m a 4. For a minute I was torn between a two and a seven. I watched your video on a Sunny 4 first and thought that must be me because I’m quite outgoing and bubbly, but after hearing the difference between social and self-preservation I think social must be my dominant with self preservation close by. I love your videos so much!

I'm a 4w3 so/sx. The description of the social 4 called me out so aggressively.... "Suppressing anger and dislike in public and then later letting it out with people they trust."
I say that all the time. I'm so nonconfrontational and will never be mean to your face... But I'm definitely a gossip 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

(HSP-Empath) INFJ 4w5 here. I discovered the MBTI about three years ago, but I am extremely new to the Enneagram typing. And based on this video, I would consider myself a SX/SO. But after reading what Lindsay Miller wrote below, I would change that to a SP/SO. So I will definitely have to do a lot more research on the sub-types. One on one connection is so very important to me, but I am definitely not one for a lot of "excitement" at any time. I tend to prefer solitude these days, yet I definitely enjoy the company and energy of a very select few. This is very interesting to me. ;-)

The last instinct in the stacking isn't a blindspot, it's an area of life most people don't want to pay attention to it because they undervalue it. It's not that we can't see it, we don't want to see it and deal with it. It's not important for us at first because it doesn't ring our emotional alert center as much as the first one and neither is a comfort zone like the middle instinct.

Hmm...I’m a 4w3 with a social subtype and I don’t relate to this at all (it’s also not consistent with what I have read in other enneagram books like The Wisdom of the Enneagram.) That book says that self preservation 4s are the most introverted and tend towards more social isolation (being consoled by their environments) more than other subtypes. The social subtype is typically more outgoing/friendly/extroverted because they are concerned with others and their communities and want a sense of belonging (though unhealthy 4s with a social variant can become extremely isolated from feelings of shame). Final thought is that I have read that, for all the types, sexual variants dont just want one to one connections, they want EXCITEMENT and exciting experiences of connection...not just with other people but with their world and their environment.

Yeah, that makes WAY more sense for me personally. UP to this last week I've been certain I'm SO/SX/SP, and maybe that still rings true. A sunny Social 4 who's externally minded but really strongly craves deep connection but is okay when she doesn't get it, all the while that self-pres is hiding emotions so the acceptably proper face can be put on and therefore SO/SP needs can be met since they rely on other people liking what they see...
Does that sound nutty or make sense to anyone else?

I definitely crave intensity and connect better to people one on one. Romantic relationships are hard to explore because I feel they're not worth pursuing unless they're some kind of epic worldwind romance. Many poeple call me extroverted but I retreat a lot when I'm not in a comfortable environment (like when I'm out partying and having to socialize with people I don't want to talk to). I obssess over people or topics I like. I'm always fantasizing over love, sex and romance and often suffer from it. I'm pretty young, a published author and a student of Psychology. Writing is what means the most to me, but I feel I have no one to share that side of myself with and it feels like that's my true self and nothing else matters, almost like fiction is more important than reality. People say my life is so uncommon and interesting, but I've been very isolated during my childhood and teenage years. I'm not afraid of vulnerability, although I can be secretive about what brings me shame. I'm always comparing myself with other women. Men seem too arcane and fascinating at the same time. Which subtype do I sound the most like?

I'm the sexual 4, although I don't see myself as a particularly sexual person. I really value my intimate relationships. I also feel anger intensely and really battle to let go when someone has hurt me in the past. I can see how others would mistake me for an 8. 8 was my second-highest score. I can relate to having the instinct to hurt the other person when I feel under threat. It's easy for me and others not to see this because I am a caring and sensitive person, but I guess I can be quite mean and ruthless. I need to be careful of this. Maybe we are just so in our own heads that we forget to consider that we can also really hurt people. It seems really paradoxical that we care so much yet can be so hurtful. It's confusing.

I'm a 4w5 sx/sp and it wasn't until I talked to my family did I realized just how strongly I expressed emotions and how disagreeable I was. Also, I've noticed most of the people I end being around either by choice or not seem to be 4s and 6s. I'm curious to see other types in person.

Whoa! I’ve taken 2 tests and always come out a 7. Theres so much that doesn’t feel right to me with the 7. I’ve been thinking I might be a 4 and I seem to be a sunny 4 but definitely hit some of the things in all these three subtypes..if that’s even possible!

Thanks, so I’ve narrowed it down it to SP or SX. I had high ratings on ennea 8 but which confused me, but maybe that’s just me being SX. But I got a high percentage on enneagram 1 too, that’s why I was thinking SP. I’m going to have to investigate further 🧐😂

i keep going back and forth between sp/sx and sx/sp. i relate more to the pure sp/sx stacking, but then when you add in the enneagram of the sp4 i almost dont relate at all and find myself entirely identifying with the sx4. im just so lost.

I'm type 4. And now I know my dominate subtype which is SX. But I don't get the relation with the 8 and 2. 8 is too '"big" or much for me. 2 is also annoying sometimes. What is the connection with them for me? Really appreciate your videos. This one indeed. Thank you.
