  • Mammotion LUBA 2 vs LUBA 1 vs YUKA. Battle of the robot Lawn Mower. Take a deep dive with me on robot lawn mowers. I test these Mammotion LUBA and YUKA robot mowers to the max. They are the best robotic mowers on the market and I had to get them. They automatically cut your grass and keep it looking like a golf course. This is everything I could think of to help you decide if a robo mower is right for you. Its a long robotic lawn mower video but I did not want to skip any details. These robotic lawn mowers performed well above my expectation.This was the most fun I have had making a you tube video and that tells you how cool these mowers are. They are FUN!! You really should consider one of these robotic lawn mowers if you have both the money and the grass. LUBA 1 is a great machine and so is YUKA but Luba 2 is the winner in case you are wondering.
    If you are serious about getting a fully automatic lawn mower or just want to have a deeper look, stop by my website where you will find in depth explanations and links to everything including my favorite robotic lawn mower accessories. There is much more over there also.

    I've had a Luba 1 since they first came out. I mow four separate zones. One is 100' x 200'. I mostly use hybrid sonic / bumper obstacle avoidance. I considered a Luba 2 but can't see any reason to spend the money when what I have does the job. I also have some decently heavy tree cover, and rough terrain. I was lazy and mounted the RTD on its supplied pole for easy access. No real problems except for the initial set-up. My iteration of the manual was really terrible but I've heard it has been improved.

    Great comparison, most useful one I've seen yet. I have one question, my new (quite flat) yard contains different quite narrow paths of grass (like just under 1 meter /3 feet wide). do you think the mapping an mowing of these paths will be ok with Yuka?

    • @HawaiiDetailing

      Yes it should. Without seeing the yard that’s a tough claim for me to make. Plan to leave conservative margins along the edges and it runs flawlessly for me.

    I was hoping the benefit of the Luba2 camera was to allow close mapping to edges like fences and walls where signal can be low or bad, but allowing it to still get really close to those things without touching, even if the signal is throwing it off and otherwise would make it bump into walls or fences, be great to see this actually tested ? Would you mind trying it out?
    Eg map super close to a fence or wall in a bad signal area (1inch max away), then see if the camera avoids contact on the nearest border cut, the camera is supposed to prevent contact when the satellite resolution drops in a bad signal area.

    • @HezekiahDomowski
      @HezekiahDomowski 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have a Luba 2 and the software for the camera has a lot of room to improve is that tnice way to put it. But right now, it does not help prevent collision with my house when I map too close. I discovered the same thing this video did, map it with a nice 6" margin makes it run smoother. It still hits the walls though from time to time. But I didn't map perfectly. But the point is the camera is not helping see the wall and avoid it.

    Great video! I have the Luba 1000 and works well, but it is definitely not suited for my yard as I have connectivity issues with many high trees. My question, how did the Yuka handle your slope/hill? I have a hill that is about a 40-50% grade that the Luba handles easily. I think the Yuka is what I need, but only if it can handle the hill. Hi, I know you didn't try the lawn sweeper device yet, but since you used both the ones I'm interested in, I'd value your opinion for my specific lawn. I'm trying to choose which is better between the Yuka 2000 or the Luba 2H 3000. My lot is .59 acres, but only .44 acres of grass. Biggest issues are I got 70 small trees to mow around, 2-3" diameter, 6' apart minimum. And an 18 degree max slope across the front of my yard. The other issue is I got a line of mature oak trees along one side property line. I can't imagine this small leaf sweeper could make a dent in that, but maybe? It seems the Yuka can hug the 70 trees better than the Luba. But the Luba may be better on the 18 degree slope up front? Do you think the Yuka can sidehill (parallel) cut the 18 degree slope with that front wheel setup? Without the sweeper, as I see they mention with the sweeper it's 10 degree max.
    Can you give me your opinion which of these would be better for my lot?
    Thanks, Ken in Indiana

      I think with large properties that have complex layouts with off camber mowing the Luba is going to be the better machine. The Yuka works best on flatter ground and slight angles. I would go with Luba on this one. Without seeing the property that’s my best guess though. Hope that helps.

    They do create some seemingly large avoidance patterns. However, I thought it didn't really seem to matter in the end because on subsequent passes, as the robots resumed their normal patterns, they would basically cover the parts that had been avoided in the first place. The YUKA actually did a really decent job in the end with that tennis ball. Yes, some weird spinning around, but still... in the end, it would have mowed most of the area around the tennis ball. Did a better job than the LUBA 2, which just ran over the ball. I would think these could be fixed through firmware upgrades though for the LUBA 2, since it too has a camera like the YUKA.

      @@HawaiiDetailing Don't know about trees but the Luba2 gets a poor positioning signal in the front of my yard, so it doesn't finish cutting. My RTK/GPS is mounted to a rail on the back of my house on the 2nd floor where a deck will eventually go. It stops cutting so I return it to an area that has line of sight of the RTK. Approximately 10 min later, it's working again. 30 min later, it's sending poor positioning errors again. 45-60min requires charging so I spend all day trying to have a 2k+ robot cut my yard. Sending it back for the Navimow i105n. I'm reading I'll have similar RTK/GPS issues. I'll update you after 5/7.

      Yuka does a great job with the floating cutter head but I think the Luba is a much more capable machine depending on the situation. If its a smaller relatively flat yard with a lot of tight turns and very uneven ground the Yuka will do well. If there is any hill climbing or off camber cutting the Luba is more capable.

    Why did they kill AWD for the Yoka?

      It’s made for a different working environment. Smaller tighter yards. For the big yards with tough terrain go with Luba 2.

    Still don’t know how you got these mowers shipped to Hawaii, both their websites and Amazon show not deliverable to the usual Alaska, Hawaii, PR, etc disclaimers.

      Its a caster wheel for tight turns in smaller areas. Will do big ares too but most yards that are smaller are flat so I am guessing they geared it toward that.

    Can you show how the Luba 2 reacts to losing satellite or RTK signal? The manual says it uses vision until “remaining momentum” reaches 0. That does not sound impressive.

    These machines need a string trimmer on each side. Without that feature these machines are not hands free lawn maintenance units. The edges look unkempt.

    • @HawaiiDetailing
      @HawaiiDetailing  วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yeah you are right. It gets you 98% there. For some people that’s amazing. For others that’s 2% short. A string trimmer on the side would be dangerous around pets or kids or to any delicate items in the yard. Just my thoughts.

      A proximity sensor could be employed to turn off the string trimmers if anything unexpected gets too close.

    Did you mention that the customer service was awful? Just in case you have a problem with these mowers ...

      No I did not. Mine has not had any problems and it’s been running every single day since they came out. I have not needed any customer service with my machine but thanks for sharing your experience with everyone.

      I have not had any issue and my grass looks like a putting green. I don't lift a finger to keep it that way. Best investment for the yard I have ever made. You do have to be willing to learn the machine, its capabilities and adjust you expectations to make it work the best possible. Most people that have issues want it to run 1/2 inch from a complicated edge around a huge property. That is the dream but after the initial setup you should monitor the performance and adjust the border. This will eliminate the sections that are not able to be quite as close as you would hope. That is the key. After a few tests and adjustments you get your zone dialed in and its pretty much hands off from there. If in the future you notice a problem with a zone address as needed. Find a great placement for the RTK and do not move it. That is another important item. if you do move the RTK restart this whole process from scratch. If none of this process sounds entertaining or is not worth your time I definitely would not buy one. It also can go as slow as 1' per second so anything that gets hit is already in trouble before this thing even gets near it. Hahaha. Hopefully that helps some people with these questions..

    Thanks for the great reviews! this may be a silly question, but when you talk about how many acres they can mow, is that per day? per zone? like could you have 4 zones that are 1 acres each on the luba 2, and have it rotate through them constantly and keep them all mowed even tho you say it can mow up to 2.5 acres? Thanks!

    • @HawaiiDetailing
      @HawaiiDetailing  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s total acres that can be programmed into the app in the form of zones. Thanks.

      So like, you can have one zone up to 2.5 acres in size and then add another zone up to 2.5 acres in size?
