Frank is my favourite! Especially when he insults Marie and I loved the time he took the blame and saved Debra from another bitch fest over the cannister and told Debra that she's like his daughter.
My favourite Frank moment was when he was sticking up for Debra and yelled rude is the only thing that gets through to her and the classic "I USED TO BE A GENTLEMAN!!!"
Guys those episodes are series 6 Mother's day and the rift goes on to the series 7 opening episode so about 3 or 4 episodes long. I think Robert comes up with a plan to get them talking again by making them worry about him
There was the time: Marie telling Debra-"In my opinion, you should add 1 inch to your hemline every year you're over age 40" Frank's response-"Then you should be dragging around a Persian Rug!"
Marie: I may not be a certified therapist, but I’ve had many people tell me I could be. Frank: That’s not what they mean when they say you’re certifiable!
They certainly had times where they couldn’t hold it, but I think that Peter and Doris were probably the best at keeping a straight face in the show’s most side-splitting scenes.
When Ray is sick because of the sneeze on him, and all the guys are trying to get a bowl of Marie’s soup... Frank: “I’ve had a pain in the ass for the past 40 years. You got any soup for that?!?”
Robert: If there is anything that I have learned in my years of experience with domestic disputes it is this. It is never just about the can opener. Frank: Yeah, sometimes it's about a jar of fat. Marie: How could you mention that? Frank: I'll mention it. You went nuts over nothing Marie: I had every right to go nuts with YOU for a husband. Frank: Don't go nuts, just go.
Marie: You know the people at the supermarket used to be so nice, they would smile & would even help you take your bags to the car. Frank: Yeah, now I gotta take you to the car myself!
I think Frank is an example of every husband after 40 years. Because, being married 11 years myself, I'm beginning to see the reasons behind his brute behaviour.
Great list! :D My favorite is when Robert starts spending more time with his African-American partner and uses AAVE. Frank gets upset when Robert calls him “dog,” but when he tells him “That means I like you!”, he interprets the slang as meaning the opposite of what it sounds like. Thus: -Frank (to Raymond): “Hey, ugly! See, in Robert-talk, that means ‘good-looking!’” (He turns to Marie) -Frank: “Hey, good looking.” :p
Family is begging Raymond to go to a self-help group (cult) that Robert joined to see what it is all about. Raymond "Ray" Barone: "No, I'm not going to one of those things. What if they drug me and I wake up chained to a goat?" Frank Barone: "You just described my wedding."
It's true, never ignore your little voice, it's always correct and hard to say no to. Frank is my favorite on this show he is awesome, even after he got sick toward the last few years. Still awesome 🌻
Another good one was when he said that the majority of body heat is lost through the head so she might want to close off any large openings. Then there's the one where he was acting like Ally's union boss and Marie offered to take over her chores and Frank said hey scab, you wanna keep those knees?
Probably me favorite insult ever failed to make the list. Season 4, episode 4: Marie: "Because I don't want to be known as the Wh*re of Lynbrook!" Frank: "We can move from Lynbrook."
There are much better ones than a few of these. 9 & 10 are minor compared to some of the insults...lol. But number 1 is definitely the best...lol. Great show. LOVED Frank & Marie. RIP Peter Boyle & Doris Roberts. Two great actors with phenomenal comic timing.
Here's what's crazy, Doris Roberts (Marie) was born on November 4th, 1925. Peter Boyle (Frank) was born on October 18th, 1935. Making them both just about 10 years apart. Peter Boyle died on December 12th, 2006, (and if you're wondering what's so crazy about that, I'm about to tell you) Doris Roberts died on April 17th, 2016. Almost 10 years after Peter Boyle's death. May they Rest In Peace!
Here is how highly Ray Romano thought of both Peter Boyle and Doris Roberts off camera. When he Guest Hosted "Saturday Night Live" he managed to give both a Cameo appearance in the cold opening. Gets better. In 1977 Peter Boyle Guest Hosted "SNL" himself appearing in the standout "Dueling Brandos" sketch with John Belushi as twin versions of Marlon Brando. And of course alongside "SNL" Alumni Chevy Chase, Christopher Guest, Julia Louis Dreyfus, and Randy Quaid Miss Doris Roberts appeared in "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation!"😂🎅🏻🤶📺🎥B.W.

Frank was the funniest of all. Old school humour is always the best.
Scott Hornby My parents are like this , exactly the same, always get a great laugh when they "argue"
Yep he sure was! He was as funny as Sophie from the Golden Girls.
You're wrong. This kind of humor is outdated.

Its a sin that Peter Boyle never won an Emmy as Frank.

Me to. I still watch it and it always makes me laugh.
The delivery of the "trophy wife" line was brilliant. While the audience Iaughed, Peter paused with the incredulous look before delivering his line.
Frank was priceless! Still miss him to this day! May they both rest in peace. Frank and Marie!
Great show and this cast was a perfect portrayal of a dysfunctional family that always made it work. Frank was a great character with perfect timing.

Frank - “Close your mouth before you talk.”

I love Doris Roberts face in the "Trophy Wife" scene. You an see that she is trying very hard not to laugh or smile.

The last one is one of the best scenes in TV history. Genius!
"Trophy wife" and the alarm one " i should have married this" are the best
