I'm 62 and ELR is my all-time favorite sitcom...the writing, the characters, the acting. It dealt with family issues which everyone could relate to. I was really sad when they decided to call it quits although I obviously knew it was inevitable. Just a classic show.
She looked like his daughter not his sister in law and the scene where she is yelling at him for his sleeping with Stefania is too funny the way it's filmed from behind her when she is standing in front of him, cause it looks like a little girl having a tantrum with her dad or something haha. Soo funny. I am glad they didn't give her lifts to wear and let her be short. My parents are like that, my dad is 6 feet tall and my mom is 5/2 or maybe a little taller like the height of Marie. So it's funny to see them next to each other. She's always asking us to get stuff down from the cupboards for her. Me and my bro are 5/8 5/9 we take after our dad in that sense.
"Lay down, play dead..." The genius of this show was the actor's ability to deliver the lines perfectly, especially Ray, Debra, and the man of my dreams Frank

If you pay close attention to how Doris Roberts portrayed Marie in every aspect of the character, bringing her to life by emotions you’d realize this lady deserved every award she got under her coat! Way to go Doris.. gone But not forgotten. 💐 In the matter of fact she even helped me become a better mom. 😅 I KNOW it was a written script not a quotation by her but honest… she agreed to say it and that was enough a reminder for me.. always. It was when she said something regarding raising up kids and she mocked the couple who resided to reading how to off of a book they bought and so she advised saying “Lots of love and Lots of patience”. Enough said.

These are all shows we watched while growing up. When we thought the world's gonna be a whole lotta sunshine fun and joy. I don't know abt you guys but that's not how it turned out for me. But I watch clips from Seinfeld, everybody loves Raymond, friends, who's the boss, etc and remember the times of happiness. When the world was full of hope.

Doris was a such an aspirational actress and person, she played Marie with such conviction, a place of caring and honesty and outright hilarity in a role that could have easily come across as insensitive, overbearing and crass. You wanted her in every scene, she was such a great model for mothers of grown children unable to completely let go of what they felt was their calling and although she won awards for her portrayal, I don't think it is appreciated enough, along with Patricia Heaton's performances. The most honest sitcom of the last 20 years!

Same. I went with a boy to my senior prom. His mom wanted me to come spend the weekend with her at the farm while the men were away hunting or something. She said there was a house for sale in their subdivision and wanted us to buy it. She even had names picked out for our children. We only went to prom. I never looked back. 😆 A friend of mine is friends with him on Facebook. He got married last year and they're now expecting their first. Good luck!
While I agree with Debra to a degree.. after the "sit down" episode, it is no wonder Robert took so long to marry Amy. I am SO glad I didn't have a mother like Marie!! All she saw was what she got out of it.. which is how she always was.

He is what deb wants Ray to be, then again he is older too so mostly more mature.
