I appreciate the way Robert stands up for himself, with both Debra and Marie, and isn't afraid to bite back, unlike pantywaist Ray, who decides to tuck tail and hide, he is so damn annoying, and a serious misrepresentation of a man, the only thing he even brings to the table in their marriage is a decent paycheck, nothing else!!

Doris was a such an aspirational actress and person, she played Marie with such conviction, a place of caring and honesty and outright hilarity in a role that could have easily come across as insensitive, overbearing and crass. You wanted her in every scene, she was such a great model for mothers of grown children unable to completely let go of what they felt was their calling and although she won awards for her portrayal, I don't think it is appreciated enough, along with Patricia Heaton's performances.
