Almost 50 years later, I still smile when I think of that (LMAO , I was 14 or so).

Corinne McKay according to pretty much every source I’ve seen it’s ‘pretend’. Wikipedia says ‘Michelle Phillips wrote the lyrics, "Well, I got down on my knees, and I pretend to pray," but Cass Elliot had been singing "I began to pray" until corrected by Phillips when they were touring. She sang "began" on the original recording.’ The source for that claim being this th-cam.com/video/lZVay1RYazI/w-d-xo.html video.

Back in the day, most young people wanted to come to CA. Songs about San Jose, San Francisco, Salinas and Hollywood lured them in. Sunset Blvd and Hollywood Blvd was packed with young people looking for music and/or drugs. Everyone had long hair and bought their bell-bottom blue jeans at the nonconformist uniform shop. Now days, like a rolling stone, more people are leaving and talking about leaving than ever before. Times they are a changing.

Laura Nyro! I made a commercial parody video about her that her cousin found amusing. It's on my channel.

It's so wholesome and makes me so happy seeing y'all being open to different times and cultures, and vibing with these oldies and classic rock and not just shrugging off your shoulder. Good music is good music, no matter the genre. Love it

I don't think it was meant as an insult. they do look like they're wearing clothes from Scooby Doo. It's not a comment about their personal looks or bodies.

I would love to teach these kids music appreciation. They love music and should be able to identify a flute when it's played. California Dreamin' was 1966.

Mama Cass passed away in the 60's or very early 70's i was a little girl but I remember this and feeling strange about her passing i didn't understand it or couldn't conceptualize her death. Great song.

Cass Elliot was a guest on Scooby Doo in the later years. She approached life with a sense of humor and joked about herself often, but she died too young and had a voice that is missed today.

Susan Walker Monday Monday is my favorite song from my childhood. We used to sing it in our van as we traveled from station to station as my dad was in the coast guard.

Iconic vocals of Mama Cass Elliot make this song so powerful. She had perfect pitch

A huge favorite of mine! This is yet another CLASSIC! 😁👍
The Mama's and the Papa's were another fine group.
They were a folk group and many had quirky names back then.
A GREAT one for singing all parts at the TOP of your lungs!
There were LOTS of great groups and bands before you were born Sweetheart. You haven't even scratched the surface please, and California Dreamin was released in December 8, 1965.and one of my 45s (small hard vinyl.)
Hippie music really, but still GREAT! 😁👍
