I prefer overhead view over this one as here we do not have good visibility what is going on on the board (it is hardly to see what kind of minions are there and what was rolled on the dice and we cannot see our heroes and boss cards). Thanks for runthrough, game reminds me of The Loop 😀
I see some similarities with Dice Throne Adventures. Personally I love the depth that Dice Throne brings to the Yahtzee mechanism, with each hero having very unique asymetric powers. And I also love the Adventures co-op expansion, which gives you loot cards you add to your deck, which lets you get more powerful over several gaming sessions as you work your way to a final boss. I know you played Dice Throne Adventures back before it was fully complete -- I think your feedback might have even affected how the game ended up! In it's finished form, it's a really great experience. Not sure I need King of Monster Island as well, but your final thoughts being so positive, I'm definitely going to have to consider picking it up!
yeah, i would say they can both be comparably easy or challenging depending on what level you play at. th,e loop is a heavier game, a lot more planning and complex turns. not to say KOMI doens't have some big complex interplay between all the various effects you can unlock as the game goes on, but on the whole i'd say comparable challenge, but KOMI is aimed at a more introductory audience while loop is more 'hard core boardgamegeek' :)
after you're 3 or 4 rounds into the game, you're drowning in special powers from the cards you buy and the allies you have! :) they went this way so that king of tokyo fans could bring their favourite monsters into the game (for aesthetic purposes) :)

You look like the Steve Carell of boardgames, I love it!

sounds like a good time. I got so many games to play tho. having such a hard time keeping up lol
How does it feel compared to The LOOP? Are they comparable in challenge?

Wish the player monsters would have some sort of unique powers too.

The original KoT didn't, the expansion added them. It may still happen
I'm using subtitles because English is not my native language, but i believe Klingon is not my native language too
