I had a lot of issues with my ears getting clogged, and none of the earplugs I tried worked until I tried the Mack’s AquaBlock ones. They’re reusable unlike the ones where you mold them yourself but still super cheap. Best of luck with the injury!
You need to reach further out in front of you when you’re swimming, think about extending your arm forward all the way, then you need to go a little bit more.
