In answer to your "how are all these people homeowners" question... agreed on the job and bills stuff, but i've been wondering this for quite a while actually: is inherited family home just isn't a thing in north america? like am broke, but my family's still a homeowner bc it wasn't us who bought it; it was my grandfather. same thing with a lot of my peers of various economy status. (though, well, technically neither i nor friends my age are the homeowners -- it's still our parents', lol.)
@@mophead_xu it's becoming less and less a thing. 1) older people are living longer, many people around 20-40 have parents who are still actively using those homes. 2)many people don't own and will never be able to own a home, meaning they can't pass one down to their children.
@@idontneedaname318 it's "chicago" but a lot of them were clearly living in the suburbs, plus in terms of large american cities chicago is already relatively cheap. if they ever did a new york/los angeles season i highly doubt homeownership would be as big of a factor lol
Very glad you picked up on Amber being a massive pick-me. She literally insinuated that only married women are deserving of respect and honesty in their relationships. Jessica was cringy, but Amber (and Mark) both seem completely full of sh*t.
Nah consistently comparing yourself to other women, meanwhile being financially insecure, unmotivated, and just as unstable as the woman you keep comparing yourself to and quite literally saying you aren’t like other girls because you’re a pretty tank driver is massive pick me energy. Jessica was cringe on some vino but Amber was full of shit and didn’t even seem to know it 😂
@@sola_a according to Amber's own logic Jessica did nothing wrong. When Jessica was interested in barnett, the two of them were not married. She just told LC that she shouldn't be angry at mark for cheating ( and giving her a potentially fatal virus) because they aren't married. Hence why I said she is full of shit. Holding a dumbass grudge against Jessica two years later but excusing Mark for worse behavior... yikes.
Also how she treated LC who had a right to be pissed at Mark who slept with another woman while they were together and how she said that they had no real commitment so he didn’t really cheat.
She was awful, Jessica was a mess but she was clearly drunk a lot of the time and pretty unstable, and Amber seemed angry at Jessica for the things that Barnett had said to her in the pod which she didn’t exactly have much control over? Amber and Barnett’s relationship seemed to have a lot of red flags all throughout and neither of them really seemed to be the greatest people, I do wonder how their relationship has really been in the real world because they seemed to have very different life and finance ideals.
Amber is really unlikeable. Like, I get that Jessica acted super inappropriate with Barnett, but Amber is so quick to threaten insane violence. Like really unattractive and unstable behavior.
i really liked the Japanese version because the couples that did not get married just played the show and talked it out before going to the altar. It really showed me that you have a choice not to play by these insane show rules and choose to be respectful and value the feelings more than the show.
Honestly I'm convinced that the only reason this show was able to happen is because the universe knew that Lauren and Cameron needed to be together. (Also the Japanese version of the show is very good)
I'm not sure yet if you touch on this in the video, but Jessica didn't seem.....sober when her and Mark had "sex" for the first time. It also really bothers me how Mark was absolutely refusing to see that Jessica just wasn't into him, he can't possibly be that dense. He seemed really happy with himself the day after they had sex while Jessica seemed visibly shaken and even drunker than usual. I'm not saying that she said no and he did something to her anyway, but it just doesn't seem like she gave enthusiastic, or even sober, consent. I got skeezy "nice guy" vibes from Mark when I watched the show the first time, and my suspicions were confirmed when he serial cheated on his partner after the show. I know that Jessica has her fault in the whole situation, but it did feel like she was under duress, because she knew that she was being filmed, and she was scared of looking superficial. All she wanted was for Mark to take one of the 500 thousand hints that she kept laying on and agree that there just wasn't a connection, and let her break things off in a way that didn't villainize her. But he insisted on cornering her and giving her absolutely no way out except for her to look like the bad guy for not being attracted to him. I genuinely think that Mark knew that Jessica wasn't attracted to him, and that hurt his ego too much for him to let it go. She literally recoiled at his touch but he still had "sex" with her with what I really, really doubt was enthusiastic consent, and then tried to emotionally entrap her. Major "nice guy" vibes from him. I said what I said. Edited to add: I think that the whole "hot and cold" thing from Jessica happened a lot because Marked kept giving her speeches about why it didn't make logical sense for her not to commit to the relationship. Every time she pulled away, instead of accepting it, he would monologue about how love is about fighting for the relationship, etc etc. It seemed like Jessica kept falling for it and letting Mark talk her back into the relationship. Justice for my messy drunk homewrecker.
Couldn’t agree more such good points made like the way mark and her had sex when she was drunk after he knew she didn’t want to is so wrong really and yet people felt bad for him?
Agree, mark seemed to be willfully ignoring Jessica's rejection. I read somewhere that they agreed to say no at the alter and mark blind sided her with the yes. His reason was because he saw her and decided he 'deserved' to marry her.... He gave off entitled and immature vibes.
Great points! I always had some sympathy for Jessica since the pod situation/the producers/Mark were most likely coercing her to to continue with the show and feel things she didn't, whilst being cut off from friends, family, social media, etc.
nah she was completely messing Mark around just because she knew she didn't have a chance getting Barnett when he liked Amber more. if she got with Mark and regretted it that's on her because she basically agreed to marry him, and she should have known better being ten years older than him lol
I think what turned me off about this show is that it didn’t have the balls to have people who aren’t already conventionally attractive in it’s cast. Like, where’s the fat women? The skinny men? Short kings? Tall queens? Trans people? Disabled people? More than one token non white person for each “side” of the cast? Like the whole point is you don’t see the people you date so why aren’t we using the most diverse spread of human experiences as possible?
@@AspieADog Yes but the point of the show is that love is blind. By only having conventionally attractive people (even Alexa in season 3 was supposedly """plus size""" even though she was literally not??) you cancel the entire point of the show. How do you think these people would've reacted if they discovered they proposed to someone in a wheelchair ? Or a bald woman ? Or a blind man ? And I get that taste is subjective but there wasn't anything that strayed even a little bit from the conventionally attractive face/body type is what we're getting at here.
@@AspieADog but it defies the point of the show the point is to see how relationships would work if people had no idea what their partners looked like - but they're all just attractive fit people. There's nothing that's really _shocking_ to see if you've never seen your partner in person, like if they were fat, or disabled, had scars just were ugly. It removed one of the most interesting possible aspect which is what if someone fell in love but when they met them in person just weren't physically attracted?
I truly believe that the first season was filled more (not completely) with contestants that were there to find love and get married. even the people that didn't get married seemed committed to the process. AND the first season was filmed TWO YEARS before its release, meaning the couples had two years of "regular marriage" before having a "public marriage". I think this is why the two married couples from the first season are still together and the two married couples from the second season are not. I don't even see the married couples from the third season staying together long but who knows (i'm praying colleen leaves matt). PLUS, after the first season blew up and everyone on it had huge internet success/attention, a lot of people saw their opportunity to get a piece of that fame. It really seems that the second and third seasons were/are filled with people who want to become influencers, aren't invested in being married, and/or immature people looking for tv romance and not a life partnership. There are lots of other problematic things with the show (idealization of marriage, it's not an "experiment", not talking about personal/professional/financial goals before getting engaged, etc.) that happen in every season, but this past third season was essentially UNWATCHABLE. There was no one to root for besides alexa and brennon, and even their moderately enjoyable scenes were not enough to overshadow the others. The first season is genuinely good and has some messy reality tv moments but no one seemed like a genuinely bad person. Season 2 and especially season 3 had some genuinely bad people and I'm sure production knew and did essentially nothing about the gaslighting, verbal abuse, and deception. I understand they're there to make good TV but good TV should never put the contestants at risk for physical OR mental abuse and there were moments I was genuinely scared for Colleen. It's time to END THE SHOW or at least rework it SIGNIFICANTLY.
I think with any "reality show" only the first season can be somewhat genuine. After that, the producers and contestants have seen what works, what makes it into the edit, what’s popular or attention getting, and then it’s just becomes a copy, then a copy of the copy, increasingly concentrating the worst behaviours in front of and behind the cameras.
@@emmy8526 I completely agree!! I think one of the best examples of this is Flavor of Love. The first season was filled with genuine fans of Flava Flav and the second and third seasons were filled with people who needed career exposure or just wanted to become famous like Hoopz or New York. It does feel very inevitable.
this video was EXACTLY the duration it took me to make pancakes for my entire family, put it on as soon as i made the batter and it finished as i washed my last dish just thought u should know
i can't stand damian but i watched the first season with my mom and sister and to this day we still randomly quote the "I am your gift" from his proposal, it was so funny 😭😂
Also easier to edit and manipulate the scenes!! It’s why s1 flows much better bc it’s harder to edit when you can clearly tell when the convo is being cut based on the wine in the gksss
Fun fact: Kelly said on her TikTok they all propose on the 10th day. That's why they are all in hair and makeup on the proposals and why they have the same clothes on different proposals
Amber is 100% pick me. The ex mechanic thing was always so annoying, that’s not you anymore girl. Let it go. Bring something else to the table please. And she has that awful “every other girl is a threat and my enemy” attitude. I couldn’t stand her from the start. Very beautiful woman and cool at surface level but deeper than that it gets yucky
omg I am BEGGING you to watch love is blind japan, that shit was the most gut wrenching reality show I have ever watched. I felt like I was being broken up with when I watched that show
I participated in a reality show and literally everything is manufactured. Those are not their homes, especially because if they were they would need to do a lot of rearranging (things need to be specific colors/patterns, no brands, etc). I knew things were not real in reality tv but participating in it really made me realize a lot of things haha
Girl, Kenny is NOT nice. he is shady af. He pretended to be jilted at the altar!! they already had discussed that they would say no to each other and he blindsided Kelly so that he could look like some sort of heartbroken hero (for revenge probably) also Mark is AWFUL and was cheating on Jessica and LC and it is insane also, Kelly is an MLM hun so that is weird too
I honestly believe the whole Francesca love triangle was set up by Netflix. I don't really have evidence, but what if Damian and Giannina had already broken up and Netflix came to them with this storyline? I just think Giannina would have been way more dramatically mad if Damien had actually cheated on her on camera.
thank you for the PSA about carlton and diamond. as a queer person, i can recognize some of her comments were biphobic. HOWEVER, i truly believe she was asking him questions in order to understand better and have a discussion. also she did feel hurt that he kept a secret from her when they were supposed to get married, and i totally understand that. carlton got extremely defensive and aggressive and treated her terribly. he could have pointed out her biphobic comments in a kinder way, but he went in the conversation READY to attack her. im on diamonds side tbh
I’m also bi, and I feel like if I were heading into a serious relationship with someone and they didn’t tell me that, I’d also be mad (not in the way she is, but just in a…this is an important part of you you hid way). His response was nuts.
pan friend chiming in, i completely agree. she was clearly shocked and didn’t always say the best things but this was absolutely a conversation he should have had before the proposal stage. it felt more like she was upset that he was hiding a side of himself and how is she supposed to trust him now. if you are making huge life decisions like marriage it’s so unfair to your partner to keep that from them. she had a right to be overwhelmed he went immediately to defense mode and didn’t give her any chance to really understand.
i must say i was shocked by her reaction. I can totally understand that he wants the person he loves to be more understanding right away and that he felt very hurt. Because it should not matter and it is so difficult when on one hand you expect biphobia and on the other hand you know you deserve understanding and kindness. it is good, if you are in a place where you can explain calmly, but i don't think it is your duty to educate your partner if they are not accepting of a part of you. yes, his reaction is absolutely misogynous and that is a big issue he has to work on. but it's also the other way around: him expressing his pain in a misogynous way does not lessen the biphobia she showed...
Actually is HE the one who made a problem out of it, not her. I really understand her reaction, because she wanted to marry this guy and he made a secret about something kinda unneccessary. If my partner would do a secret about such little things, thats a big red flag for me.
@@hehehehh both of them are quite problematic, BUT cole being the black sheep especially in the reunion episode is really not a balanced perspective. just saying both of them needs therapy but especially zanab, because her lenses are for real so skewed and biased because of her insecurity, and she put it all on him instead of taking accountability.
I'm bisexual and, honestly, Diamond's initial response to Carlton being bisexual wasn't bad. It wasn't even negative. She was just genuinely curious about why he waited until they were already engaged. I sorta agree with her that he should've disclosed that in the pods if he thought it might be a dealbreaker/prove to be a problem somehow. Like, his outburst made it seem like he thought it'd be the end of the world when he told her. I can see how it could be considered biphobic for someone to not want to date someone simply because they are bi (but at the same time, I wouldn't personally care too much because I wouldn't want to date someone who is bothered by my sexuality, yk?). Personally, I think coming out can be cathartic/bittersweet, but it's not necessary to be true to your identity.
Absolutely agree. No one would make a problem out of it, but himself. Tho Diamond said something like "What if you're not sure if you want a relationship with a woman" it's just curiosity and a normal reaction for those who aren't in contact with those topics. He just needed to be honest about it at their first date and I highly doubt, from seeing Diamond being a nice and emotionally smart person, that she wouldn't understand if he explains it to her.
@@hurlscoutss Yeah, I was thinking that when he was accusing her of that. I tried to put myself in his shoes, but I really didn't see the issue with her preference being dating people who are simply cishet
Yeah it feels like that argument really escalated due to how defensive he got about it, resorting to misogynistic insults. It really sucks but it's completely justified if she doesn't want to date him after he keeps a secret like that.
I’m happy I’m not the only one who couldn’t stand Amber and was proven right when she did that. It’s also clear she wears the pants in that relationship. Honestly I don’t think Jessica or Amber were right for Barnett and I think he’d have been better off leaving single and figuring life out from there rather than SELLING YOUR HOUSE for Amber or any woman for that matter. That makes her seem like a total gold digger.
Yes! I STRONGLY disliked Amber like girl...your're wanting to get married, stay home...but you have debt?! So she was LOOKING for someone to pay that off.
I think they're still married and I hope they're genuinely happy, but I hate the paring of Amber and Barnett. Maybe it's just because I would never do it but he basically married a woman who announces for the first time halfway through their engagement that she plans on having him solve her financial problems and support her life of doing fuck all. It's not fair and I feel for him. :(
Quite interesting to hear that the contestants in US reality tv shows aren't usually allowed to drink,I wasn't really aware of this. in Germany it's very common and it often feels as if the shows entirely depend on drunk behavior and decision making
It doesn't seem very moral to allow people to drink in situations of distress like reality tv. Reality tv is exploitation, but at least some sobriety makes you able to consent in some way. Imo it should be even illegal.
yeah, Temptation Island Finland is just about people partying + getting super drunk and then cheating and that creates drama 😂🙃 not the most ethical but people love it here
About Carlton's "reveal": I can't speak for Diamond, and I wouldn't react in anger, but I would have a reaction to something so central to someone's identity being kept from me. I wouldn't feel threatened (which I think Diamond was, but again can't speak for her), but I would be upset that my partner didn't trust me with that or didn't believe I would be accepting or loving. Carlton's issue (asides from rampant misogyny) is that he wasn't secure enough in himself to trust Diamond completely, and that led to her feeling both lied to/deceived and like an option. We don't see much of their pod convos, but dating history would have undoubtedly come up. I don't care who my partner dated in the past, but I do care about them being honest with me. Maybe Carlton only mentioned dating women. Maybe he didn't outright lie, but the effect was the same, or maybe he did lie. I can see how Diamond could think, especially after only knowing Carlton for a little over a week, what else isn't he being completely truthful about? If he can keep such a large secret, what else isn't he saying? Also, if Carlton thinks Diamond could have a negative (or biphobic) reaction, why the hell did he propose? The whole situation could've been handled way better, obviously, and I'm kinda pissed Carlton was given a redemption arc. Neither of them needed that, they just shouldn't have gotten engaged 😂
Great analysis of the first season. Yes, that Amber-Elsie conversation was ridiculous. Mark put Elsie's health at risk. WTF! The whole non-exclusive dating stuff people do is weird to me. 🤷🏾♀️
While non-exclusivity is not for me I have no qualms with the principle itself. But there are a lot of risks and pitfalls that you need to be aware of and work around, which a lot of people seem to brush aside completely.
As someone in a non-exclusive relationship, these topics are manageable can be navigated as long as all parties are upfront, honest and responsible with their choices. Those who are careless or disrespectful should not engage in these types of relationships, but then it can be easily argued that anyone selfish, irresponsible and prone to lying shouldn't be in any kind of relationship whatsoever.
the problem is that the people that get into these non-exclusive relationships are not well enough emotionally equipped for one relationship let alone SEVERAL relationships
I‘ve never seen an episode of this show but I’ve seen Trixie and Katya‘s reaction to the new season and when I tell you the way I absolutely lost it at that dude putting in the fake tears, they way the producers kept that in 💀 I had to take some minutes to calm myself down from the hysteria, so when I saw the picture at 0:18 I absolutely lost it again
I didn’t like Carlton. Even before he told Diamond about his bisexuality he was acting so weird and rude to her. She actually reacted in a pretty calm way. When he told her I don’t think she was biphobic, I think she just wondered if he could keep that secret then what else could he keep a secret and that was valid. Carlton is just not a good guy and that has nothing to do with his sexuality. He’s just not a good person. Even after altar when he’s having a conversation with Lauren he starts a fight with her from nowhere. He’s just not a good person
I agree. He literally made up his mind that she would be angry and immediately lashed out at her when in reality it seemed like she was upset about the fact that he didn’t tell her not that he was bisexual. And she even seemed like she wanted to know more because it’s obvious that it is a part of him.
i had the same feeling tbh, and also to me it seemed like a lot of the biphobia that he thought came from her was actually internalized. he treated her really badly bc of it but i cant help but feel bad for them both
@@livia3587 Yes. Like he still has some hang ups about his sexuality and he's still dealing with it so he lashes out because he expects a negative reaction from everyone else
I’d love to see you do a video essay on Married at first sight Australia, the last 3/4 seasons have been nothing but chaos and drama lol. Especially this years season had some fucked up drama but it was oh so juicy!
Damian is literally emotionally abusive, I had to mute his audio because it was taking me back to an abusive ex. I’m so glad Gigi is finally rid of him now. Yeah I love Jessica. She was messy on the show but she’d just had her heart manipulated and broken by Barnett, she tried to communicate with Mark but he never listened to her, he broke their agreements and actually cheated, and no one would even be friends with her. But I hear she’s doing well now and has a boyfriend who has seen the show and understands her!
I honestly didn't read Diamond as biphobic, it looked like she was still just processing new information and he just made his own fears realized by blowing up right away -- it was his attitude then that made her pissed off more than his past.

I will not be tolerating any Cameron and Lauren slander in this house
Absolutely
i truly think this show only exists for the two of them to find each other 🥰
I will defend them until I’m laid to rest 😂
What bad could anyone say about them?
Very glad you picked up on Amber being a massive pick-me. She literally insinuated that only married women are deserving of respect and honesty in their relationships. Jessica was cringy, but Amber (and Mark) both seem completely full of sh*t.
If calling out the woman who kept trying to sabotage my relationship is pick me behavior then call me queen of all pick mes!!
I disagree
,😊I would’ve thrown hands too~
I love Amber
So quick??? Literally, last night before wedding?
i really liked the Japanese version because the couples that did not get married just played the show and talked it out before going to the altar. It really showed me that you have a choice not to play by these insane show rules and choose to be respectful and value the feelings more than the show.
I think the rules for Japan were different and didn't force them to go to the altar. Not sure though
@@salamander8301 yeah and he was possibly unfaithful to Jessica during the show, and he cheated on LC afterwards and gave her covid
You should make a show like that
What you just said could be applied to Love Island and mamy other shows like it...
@@janellefrickert6522 And that's what irritates me about "reality" shows like this: It doesn't ever want to reflect a slice of social reality.
It does feel very inevitable.

omg I am BEGGING you to watch love is blind japan, that shit was the most gut wrenching reality show I have ever watched. I felt like I was being broken up with when I watched that show
I participated in a reality show and literally everything is manufactured. Those are not their homes, especially because if they were they would need to do a lot of rearranging (things need to be specific colors/patterns, no brands, etc). I knew things were not real in reality tv but participating in it really made me realize a lot of things haha
what show did you participate in?
I have always thought amber was the villain! Definitely a mean girl that peaked in high school vibe
Girl, Kenny is NOT nice. he is shady af. He pretended to be jilted at the altar!! they already had discussed that they would say no to each other and he blindsided Kelly so that he could look like some sort of heartbroken hero (for revenge probably)
also Mark is AWFUL and was cheating on Jessica and LC and it is insane
also, Kelly is an MLM hun so that is weird too
Okay I did not know the Kenny tea! Wow!
@@sonorasgirl totally agree with you! relationships need honesty
pan friend chiming in, i completely agree. she was clearly shocked and didn’t always say the best things but this was absolutely a conversation he should have had before the proposal stage. it felt more like she was upset that he was hiding a side of himself and how is she supposed to trust him now. if you are making huge life decisions like marriage it’s so unfair to your partner to keep that from them. she had a right to be overwhelmed
he went immediately to defense mode and didn’t give her any chance to really understand.
i must say i was shocked by her reaction.
If my partner would do a secret about such little things, thats a big red flag for me.

ngl as someone who's never seen after the altar this was absolutely eye opening so excited for another vid on other seasons of love is blind
Season one is by far the superior series IMO. Far too many of the potentials get engaged just to get more screen time in season 2 and 3.
It's not biphobic! I'm bi and people have every reason to exclude people from their dating pool. Dating is exclusionary.
It really sucks but it's completely justified if she doesn't want to date him after he keeps a secret like that.
love is blind Japan was really so good, everyone was mature about it and one of the couple made me cry when they matched hair omg
I just finished s1 so I could watch this video 😭😭 Lauren & Cameron are actually the cutest couple I have ever seen though
Him and LC would have been so fun together. He kissed out there
Barnett talks to all these women the way I talk about my colleges in my 'why us' essays lmfao
In France, they have an alcohol budget to get everyone drunk enough every day…
@@Angela1111122222 not to mention that are actual instances of assault that were filmed in some of these shows…it’s horrific.

@@idiot1117 BINGO. That's what I was getting at.
