    Some things that have helped to control my hairfall include: (1) I quit wearing ponytails because it leds to tension damage. (2) I began massaging my hair and scalp twice a week with liitleextra cocoonnion hair oil while bending over & holding my head inverted to allow blood flow to the scalp. (3) Protecting my head while moving out to shield my hair from pollution. (4) Using mild shampoo again from liittleextra only to cleanse my hair.

    There's a "locologist" here on TH-cam named Yannie who states to NEVER use shampoo on locs. I'm guessing it's bc shampoo can cause buildup if not washed out properly. However, I'm seeing a lot of sisters and brothers use shampoo on their locs and it's beautiful, no build up whatsoever. Sulfate free shampoo of course is best. She did recommend Dr Bronner's peppermint soap and no conditioner. Use a hot oil treatment as conditioner and don't rinse out.

    • @faithdreamlove3844
      @faithdreamlove3844 2 ปีที่แล้ว +31

      You can use conditioner after your hair is locked because it helps keep it soft and manageable , shampoo all the time will have it dry which is what we want but we want a soft dry not brittle

    • @jalarise8495
      @jalarise8495 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      @@faithdreamlove3844 The only reason she recommended not to use conditioner because conditioners are designed to detangle the hair which would defeat the purpose of having locs. But if using conditioner works for many then more power to them! Maybe when my locs are more mature I'll see what conditioner may do (or not do).

    • @MoeS777
      @MoeS777 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Loc'd 7 years, I've always used shampoo. But because I have sensitive scalp I use head and shoulders on my scalp. Rinse my rinse hanging down then wash my actual locs with Aragon shampoo, honestly only for the scent. I don't use conditioner personally. I've found buildups within my locs and that's after ringing and twisting my locs while washing my hair. There's going to be trails during your loc journey. Even though we watch these videos for guidance, do what's best for your hair. Trust me your scalp and the feeling of your locs will let you know what's working.

    The Dr. Bonner's definitely leaves buildup in my scalp after washing!!!! Okay for the locs, but the Almond scent isn't as strong as I like & may leave a moldy smell if I don't sit under the dryer. Can't wait to try the other products though. I use a different brand of Tea Tree Shampoo that works grrreatt with my scalp, but leaves my locs dry having to add extra layers of oil/moisture afterwards.

  • @Lifeofbpw

    Regardless of the shampoo lol i dilute it before it touches my locs 😂 I’ve been soaking cloves in hot filtered water for 24 hours by using a tea strain and then using the clove water to dilute my dr bronners soap. I do a hot oil treatment after with oils that don’t solidify. My fave oils are olive oil, almond oil and castor oil mixed with clove bud essential oil and tea tree essential oil.

    I don't know if it's my favorite but I've been using the Trader Joe's tea tree shampoo on mine and my daughter's hair for months now. I use it to help us with itchy flaky scalp. And I will say that it has helped my daughter out completely along with no more air drying. Her hair texture isn't as soft as it once was but it's thicker and longer than ever. It also has helped me tremendously with my scalp issues as well but I still have more ways to go with fully getting rid of my problem.

    So I’m soon starting my loc journey again , cause I want thicker locs only like 40 locs total. I’m a loose natural and I decided to come on here to see the shampoos the loc community is using. I think I’ll stick with my design essentials avocado and almond shampoo, of course I won’t be needing the leave in anymore. But I really like how that shampoo leaves my hair, might I add I have bleach blonde hair almost white. I had that color with my last set of locs, and my stylist who’s been doing locs for 15yrs was like ummmmm how isn’t your hair breaking off? Anyone else locs would be in the sink she said, she was saying there so strong and moisturized. To keep them like that do to them being blonde we all know blonde is very drying. I used distilled water in a spray bottle and essential oils I’d added to the mixture. Lavender, rosemary,lemongrass,peppermint,virgin coconut oil unrefined avocado oil and olive oil. So this helped a lot for me. I sprayed it every 3-4 days. But I like this video it was good now the neutrogena is that a clarifying shampoo? Cause I have suave so I’m looking to try another type of clarifying shampoo once my suave is finished. Thanks for sharing this video 😊❤

    Girl please change the battery in that smoke alarm. I kept trying to figure out if that was yours or mine. I had online hardwired last year so it occurred to me I don't have to worry about dead batteries. That sound drives me crazy. 😆 BTW I believe in trader Joe's tea tree for years now. I recommend it as a clarifying shampoo because it really strips. I used it as a loose natural and now on my locks. I will say if you have dry hair you don't want to use this for every wash. Maybe every other wash depending on how often you wash your hair. I wash my 6-month-old locks about every 7 days so I'm at the point where I'm going to start losing it every other week or every third week because this stuff does not play.

    This was helpful. Thanks, Leopardess. :) Question: About how many locs do you have? I'm 10 months in and my locs have a similar thickness and loc-part ratio.

    I always used the clear anti residue shampoos, sadly they've discontinued them, and the replacement they have shows as having a grapefruit scent, so from my understanding, wouldnt that leave a residue? thats the only reason im looking for shampoos now instead of just getting that one

    The Neutrogena Shampoo is legit but don’t use if often. It dries them out but a great detox.

      Stuff was great… til I colored as a loose natural. It will strip the heck out of any color you have. Newly loc’d and the color is still growing out so I had to toss. 😬

    Make my own shampoo to control the chemical formula. Fenugreek seeds, is the main ingredient...
