I just use a two shampoos. One for clarifying, followed by a good moisturizing shampoo.

I tried your method, and it is PERFECT for me: no conditioner, and a hot oil treatment I don’t wash out. Brilliant! Thank you. 🙏🏽💖

I use a clarifying shampoo but I also use a moisturizing shampoo. For conditioners I use Aussie Moisture and Pantene Moisture Rich. I have NO build up because I thoroughly rinse. Some people cut their conditioner and mix it with water which may help those who retain build up....Everyone's hair is different and sometimes our hair changes. So I may stop using conditioner, I may not. I just hope everyone listens to their hair needs and not popular products. I'm glad Leopardess doesn't chose what's popular but instead list what works for her...

Babassu and mint deep conditioner. It’s thin. Does a good job rinsing out

Ok, this is crazy: I commented before on this, but I have tried this a couple of times, and as it turns out, I needed to do exactly NOTHING to moisturize in between shampoos when I use this hot oil treatment after shampooing. My hair stays soft and shiny and I am over the moon ecstatic. Brilliant hack!

@@fabienne4205 guess what? I have even stopped doing hot oil treatments! My hair seems to be producing its own oil, and I have no need to supplement. Now, I spray a mix of rose oil and aloe vera juice in my hair every couple of days, and that’s it. My hair is moisturized and my scalp is very happy. It seems we have indeed been sold a bill of goods that has made us think we need all these products. My own experimentation tells me we absolutely do NOT.

You look beautiful! Your hair has grown a lot. I haven't used conditioner because my scalp is oily. I'm afraid of buildup.

My scalp is always dry and I can't fix it. It itches all the time. I put oil on my scalp and it seems to make it itch more. It have fine powdery looking dandruff 24/7

I used to be the same way until I stopped using certain oils. Oil products vs single oils such as castor or grapeseed. Oil products usually have many other ingredients and makes me itch so much. Watch out for coconut oil too. You have to experiment. Take a break from oils and hydrate with h2o. Hope this helps

I have the same issues with my scalp. Definitely use specific oil’s not oil products. Also i ended having to go to dermatologist. They gave me a shampoo and oil it works wonders.

From doing my research I read that oils are actually a sealant and not really a moisturizer. I have the same issues as well even when I apply oils directly to my scalp it still becomes very dry and itchy. I would recommend to try a leave in conditioner that’s water based and then add oil to keep in the moisture. I use tea tree oil, peppermint oil, jojoba oil, & castor oil to moisture my scalp. And they work great for dandruff!

I used to have this issue. Tea tree oil helped me a lot long with a medicated shampoo. I mixed TTO with carrier oils and rosemary for hair growth.

Very rare for me to use a conditioner. If my locs feel extra dry I have used a conditioner. In the 3.5 years I've had this set of locs, I've used conditioner 4 times. It's been well over a year since I've used a conditioner and I have no plans to use one.
I do an herbal hair rinse to condition (like the one loccrush posted on her channel). I have done hot oil treatments and enjoyed, but am currently seeing how my locs do without oil. Been about 6 weeks and it's working for me. Probably because I do a gentle clarifying shampoo followed by a moisturizing shampoo (TGIN moisture shampoo) which puts my locs in a great place after shampooing. I use a homemade loc mist (no oils) and it's working for me.
