This oil is pretty amazing...iv been doing mechanic's since i was 13 yrs age now I'm 49 yrs old this oil kept my 2022 more quite more efficient an smoother you can use this oil every time you want it's not only to clean your engine it's keeps it that way with regular use ....
Dexos or not ...i can tell you this oil will keep your engine quiet an clean...but i do it when my oil monitor hits 50 or every 5 months or 6 is the limit..an I bet you it will run amazing this is my 4 oil change an it's very clean...an no oil burning..be safe
As long as you are a diligent owner and keep an eye on the level and change on time generally you are ok. Some engines as I stated with low tension rings will still develop consumption issues. This product is great and can be used all the time to remove and keep build up away. Thanks for watching!
That needs a ton of work you noticed the dip stick quart or more over filled probably grand or more just in parts. Keep us updated on that project. Thank You
Got it knocked out, ended up needing all 4 motor mounts, front lower control arms, front upper ball joints, right tie rod, a new set of lug nuts, brake pads and rotors all around, and rear shocks. Lots of work, but it’s been awhile since this car had a major service. Car will be back in a month for a follow up so I’ll walk through what I’ve done so far. Thanks for watching!
Those high function 3.6l are much easier on the oil, larger sump, properly sized engine for vehicle, and operated jn warm climate. GM changed OLM to a max of 7500 in MY 2013, before it was 10-12k. I drive 12k in 3 months all highway, still hits 0 percent at 7500. That engine is exceptionally clean, tbey clearly used qualityoil and changed frequently. The residue on the bottom is the disperants doing thier job. Do the same test using varnished, sludged up GM 2.4L Ecotec. Been using Amsoil and premium gas, now 200k, and engine and zero varnish or sludge on this 12k intervals.
Clean oil will make these engines last a long time. Sludge and varnish will destroy the timing chain and guides. Most engine issues are due to lack of oil changes. Thanks for watching!
@Fix-it-tony in these modern GDI engines it is viscosity breakdown, oil shearing and abrasive soot that is wearing chains and clogging oil control rings. They have known for 8 years, and finally came out with API SP spec. Still not enough though.
That is a clean engine for that amount of miles. I doubt seriously that owner did 10k oil changes. Unless Dexos is that good😅. I would like to see the carbon on the intake valves if that is GDI. The GM oil life monitor is actually quite accurate. I change at 5-6k regardless. But when under warranty it never went more than 7k OLM. In the winter it dropped to around 5k. Which makes sense because of condensation and water vapor. On a 150k Colorado.
I air on the side of caution, every GM engine I’ve torn down that’s failed had an excessive amount of sludge. The owners claimed to change the oil when their light kicked on. I worked at an oil change shop as a teenager and can tell you sometimes these places don’t change oil, under fill engines, or do other stupid unethical things. With turbo charged engines now a days the problem is worse. Running engines hard and parking without cooling them down. The oil burns up in the turbo turning to sludge overtime. This engine in the XTS is direct injected. When I get the car back I’ll scope the valves. Thanks for watching!
@@Fix-it-tony I agree with all of the above. Even the dealers under fill, and once didn't tighten the oil filter. I lost all the oil in about two blocks. Took it right back. All they could say was, "sorry". I only took it there because I had free oil change. 😞
Was the OLM on this vehicle really meant to go 10,000 miles? I've long assumed most GM OLMs are meant to default to around 7500 miles/12 months. While I don't agree with it The Motor Oil Geek made a recent TH-cam video suggesting that the OLM can be relied on to go off before the Oil is "bad". (Assuming "Perfect" Conditions of course) My 2014 GMC Terrain with Ecotec 2.4L had plenty of Short Tripping/Excess Idling and often got changed long before the OLM suggested a change... My first Oil Analysis on it was last year at 3000 miles/8 months (56% Oil Life) and it had really bad Oil Dilution (5.5%) and its TBN, Viscosity, Flashpoint was not good... Wear Metals weren't bad (but Analysis suggested Oil Dilution could have masked issues) additional Analysis afterwards suggests it is looking Healthy after my adjusting/cleaning/maintaining various things... Basically UOA is currently saying I should be good for 5K intervals... BUT based on that "first" test I'm glad I didn't "trust" the OLM... Given what other Ecotec 2.4L users follow/advise I'm going to be mindful to stay under 5K(probably 4K)/ 6 months and no more then 50% Oil Life... Hopefully VRP will do good (Filter is looking like it is picking up plenty of gunk, though still looking OK) at keeping it "Healthy" and hopefully the Oil Dilution continues to decrease (hopefully the 1.3% was/is mostly residual contamination vs "new" Dilution). Changed my Spark Plugs recently and noticed Oil in Spark Plug Cylinder #1 so I'll be Monitoring that (no codes/performance issues) and I suppose will have a chance to see what it looks like while I'm inside there... Hopefully nothing but good cleaning... (Which based on Analysis it should)
@@Fix-it-tony Yeah. Certainly an issue for users that don't check Oil Level/condition... and realize/accept that if there is Oil Consumption or there are otherwise signs of concern, the Oil probably needs a change... The OLM is "smart"... But not smart enough to do actual level and condition analysis
My friend, those dreaded ecotecs are very finicky and burn oil like you wouldn't believe. My wife's '16 Equinox burns about 2 qts in between changes. I've just switched to Pennzoil ultra high mileage after watching a few tutorials to see what results come from it
@@willg.5168 Yeah, I'm learning that in the year I took ownership of this Terrain. (Was my Parents for 10 years, I don't recall them/I having noticed/heard of any "problems" with the Ecotec 2.4L... Till I made a point of "checking" to make sure it was "Caught up" on Maintenance when I bought it when they were "Trading In" for a 2024 Equinox) Just around 2000 miles on my VRP/2.4L Ecotec Oil change. Just did a 450 mile (3.5-4 hr/7-8Hr total) Highway round trip this weekend... "Burned" about 1/2 a quart on the way to my destination. Going to have to see if I lost another 1/2 quart on the way home. Not sure if this was more a "Heavy Use" burn, or how much the Spark Plug/Valve Cover Gasket Leak contributed. "Usually" I haven't noticed significant Oil Burning/loss in the past...
Sorry but this is clickbait. Your heading is misleading because watching til the end and still no indication of whether or not Valvoline Restore works. Don't care about the brakes and control arms.....
These videos are part of a series, before and after. People ask to see the project that’s why I got through the car. Follow-up video will be in a few months. Thanks for watching!
you should stick to shorts if you’re this salty about a 9 minute video that is giving plenty of context regarding the contrition of the vehicle that the R&P is going to be running on. You do NOT know what clickbait is.
Problem is (as I discovered) this oil isn't really available in most shops. This is only for folks changing their own oil. I am in a major metro area...and called numerous shops. No one carried it. I had to buy my own...and my shop made a big deal out of it. So on my next change...I will likely need to give this up and go back to whatever synthetic they offer.

That's motor oil is a waste of time according to analysis I discovered the Valvoline Advanced for synthetic has more cleaning agents than this oil is being advertised or you can use Pennzoil Ultra that also has strong cleaning agents will clean your engine up as well once you put time on that oil the key to it is stop running your oil to it becomes sludge Beyond it's all protection by getting your your oil change on time that's the key from not getting a dirty ass engine causing sludge that will prevent that
