Vaping also a common problem in schools. But the problem is how students are able to evade detection in smuggling vapes to school/class? Should there be more enforcement in clamping down vapes in schools, especially in ITE's and Polytechnic’s?

As humans, our brains are hardwired to seek out pleasurable activities that releases dopamine. Some people don't smoke, vape, drink or use drugs but yet they overindulge in other vices such as gambling or womanizing. Either that or they may overindulge in unhealthy or sugary food. It is not possible to live a life without even one single vice, since that would be against human nature. The gahment really needs to understand this

Is Vaping really banned in Singapore??? It is not about educating the people, law or penalties in place, but who is enforcing it?The government should spot check all schools and find out which school do not have students vaping . The whole problem is government is not enforcing it enough. The first line of defence is our custom. ICA is not doing their job. I fly every month, before every flight touch down, it need to be announced to all passengers the penalty of possession of vapes. Who dare brings meats to Taiwan or anything to Australia. On the flights and at airports you’re repeatedly warned by big signage and repeated announcements of not bringing prohibited substances into the country. As a parents I do not feel safe anymore to send my kids to school, when seeing their schoolmates vaping in toilet is already a common scene for them. Feedback to schools, but didn’t see any changes. When you can see people vaping openly in bus stop , on the streets, this is a reflection how incompetent our law enforcement agencies are. I don’t see the determination of the government to claim down vaping. There was a rumour, the Singapore government intention is not really to ban vaping, but they have yet to figure out how much taxes to be charge in order to regulate the practice. Maybe this is why vaping is not effectively claimed down in the country. To me as parents, this is a serious problem that we have yet see any effective action taken by government. I am always very confident with the capabilities of our government agencies, but in this matter I am very concerned.

      1. The stuff used inside are ingredients from the food industry. They are designed and tested safe for human digestion, but not for inhaling. Therefore, we do not know which of them are harmful in that application, and at what dosages.
      2. The vaping industry itself is to blame. Instead of pressing for healthier liquids, they do the opposite. For example, they use ingredients, like a special type of nicotine, for making the people highly dependant. These are even more present in those small devices popular with young people, those that use sweet flavours, e.g. bubble gum, cherry candy, etc..
      3. What the garment claims is true, vaping devices offer another venue for misuse. They can be used to consume illegal substances.
I worked in the flavour industry. I vaped and managed to quit smoking with the help of a vaping device. But I made my own liquid.

Can proper test be done? Testing on vapes with practical usage and not with the “constant sucking machine”, does it not burn the device producing results differing from normal usage? X-rays and blood work from vapers, smokers and normal lungs? Like countries have produce lab results which shows that vaping is not healthy but healthier as compared to smoking, but yet cigarettes still legal in Singapore, which was initially introduced in Singapore to help those opium users cope with withdrawals when Singapore decided to make it illegal, which do affect others in second and third hand smoking. This would give a proper understanding to Singaporean on the harmfulness and severity, if any, and if the results shows that it as harmful as cigarettes, but still remain illegal, both vapes and cigarettes should be banned as well. A concern was that drugs could be consumed in such vape devices, then alcohol should be considered on the banning list as well, as it does alter one’s thinking as well as harmful effects on the body. Another concern is children having access to vapes, in which I say, during my time in primary school, students had already gotten their hands on cigarettes but it did not result in a concern for Singapore to ban cigarettes. Even increasing the legal age to purchase cigarettes, never deterred those who are already hooked on smoking.
