The descent into Sandsend used to have two signs for local bus drivers. The first said "Drivers stop here. Engage 2nd gear" the next said "Drivers stop here, engage 1st gear" I heard of a driver that assumed a 1980s Leylabd National didn't need such guidance and REALLY regretted it "What a ride, man!" was his quote. Thanks! Fortunately I rode up and down that hill back un July with my motorcycle so I knew how steep it was. I had shifted down to 2nd gear in the bus before the really steep part.
