I’ve had my Blue Marvin for a few days and am so glad I bought this incredible and flexible instrument for my first synth. Will pump my Casio MT65 through this, and that little keyboard is going to sound epic!
Ralph, since I got my 2600 your insights and tutorials have kept me going enjoying this amazing sythesizer. This is once again a great video with solid and clear tips. Thank you for your work.
I've played with inserting electric guitar via the x1000 range. Used the envelope follower to modulate the VCF cut-off for auto-wah effects. Once the guitar is in all the techniques in the video work equally as well on guitar. I've also had fun creating drones with the VCOs etc then using the inverted envelope from the guitar to "duck" the drone when the guitar is playing. (I've used both static & MIDI driven drones.)
Great video, Ralph! I'm getting everything ready to reproduce it this afternoon! I'll use my Behringer 2600 Blue Marvin and my Korg X5D as the sound source. I'll also have my Boss RV-3 Reverb/Delay at hand for any extra reverb it may need. Thank you! Chüss! 😃💪🏻
Thank you Ralph !! It might be dumb, but i never thought i could do this ! I will defenetly try to plug my pro 800 in my b2600 next time i'm home ! Thank u a lot. Love the song around 15:00 by the way !
No worries, sometimes we all don't see the forest for the trees. And very often we overlook very simple solutions ;-) I glad you like the video. Let me know how the patch works with your rig. Have a creative weekend, Ralph
Danke Ralf!
VG Ralph
Hi Ralph, hope you are well. I think Pete Townsend was getting a little confused when he mentioned using the sample and hold on the VCS3/Synthi A, there isn’t a sample and hold circuit. How I did it was to use the LFO patched into the Output voltage control input on the pin matrix which created a kind of tremolo. I believe VCS3 software clones do have a sample and hold though. Thanks for the heads up using the 2600, much appreciated info. Please keep up the good work.
Pete Townshend mentioned the S&H effect on the VCS3 by himself in an interview. Although the VCS3 does not have a dedicated S&H module you can achieve results reminiscent of a Sample & Hold effect. I also think that’s what he meant considering that he was also using an ARP2500 and ARP2600. I wish I could ask him personally! I consider Pete Townshend a true genius and his demo versions are stellar :-) Thank you so much for watching my content! I am aware of the fact that with my 2600 videos I am in a very narrow niche field thus the support from my viewers means a lot to me. Cheers, Ralph
you should add some keytracking to the control output of the LFOs so you can keep your lower notes audible for nice foundational notes. The higher notes lend themselves better to mid and higher frequencies. I am using a hydrasynth to replicate this patch with some analogue drift and some wave scanning between sine and tri saw on osc1 and using a sub osc sine for more body. yours Sounds amazeballs :3
