    I am a Christian. I wish my husband and I could have had these principles to build our relationship on. Married 49 years and we really don't have a developed relationship.
    This is such good information!
    GOD BLESS ISREAL!!!!❤

      What a wonderful couple. I also live in Toms River, NJ. I think it is so important for people to have some marriage training through a Jewish married couple.

      I really liked your idea about vacations in theory. But in reality, my wife and I have very different concepts of vacations. She wants to go to a hotel or beach and sit and do nothing (OK, well not nothing. She wants to sit and talk and connect and wake up late. But in my mind that's nothing and I hate sitting around "chilling"). I want to go snowboarding, or surfing, or hiking/ sight seeing. Wake up early and fill the day. So she hates when I want to take off too do these things, because she never wants to come and she also feels like I never want to spend time with her because she never wants to go do activities.

    The problem is that a lot of
    people define love as physical only. Which is a big mistake. But as Rabbi Epstein says, if people don't connect in the living room, there is no bedroom. Such "love" does not last very long. Take it from someone who is married for decades. A marriage has to be like wine. The more it ages, it has to get better, you learn to overlook things that bother you b4. That is if it is a healthy marriage. Unfortunately some couples stay together for the sake of the children. That is very sad. Marriage is not a honeymoon or a hotel that you check in and out. It is continued work. I feel bad for people who don't get it. Wonderful interview.

    I listened to this whole podcast, and the intelligence of Rabbi & Rebitzin Epstein blows me away.
    I think this is a must listen to podcast for anyone who is thinking of getting married!!!
    If you are a parent of a child who is getting married, the best thing you can do for them is make them listen to this podcast. (Unfortunately, today, the parents have no control over their children, so good luck to you to get them to listen to it.
    If I had only had this podcast when I was dating, I think I would be in a much better place today.

    Very intelligent young man and woman, I wish I could have met them thirty years ago and saved my marriage 😢 I was so forgiving and never threw my exhusbands many affairs up after he apologized, but you can only take so much and what if they bring home a disease and I couldn't understand the sex affairs because we had a wonderful sex life and we were good friends, I'll never understand why he did what he did maybe a sex addiction? I forgave him so many times because we were married and had beautiful family 😢 and I've never been remarried or dated because most men are just in it for the sex and I would feel cheap if I did that, and being single is not so bad, I do whatever I want and I am a caregiver now and I love helping people and he never wanted me to work or volunteer, so I feel blessed but my children are still going through trying to understand and I don't want to stay your Dad was a whore, so they just don't understand the divorce everyone really suffers from a bad relationship, so I say work on your relationship get some good counseling like these guys ✌️❤️🙏

    Not sure how this came up in my feed, I disagree. Children most definitely come FIRST. & need the attention of at least ONE parent....if not both, in a household. Children come first.

    • @Anne-mn3rh
      @Anne-mn3rh 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      It's not an either/or. Children benefit tremendously from having parents who are in sync, and that takes investment. Of course, it's a balance. Notice, for example, that he takes his kids on father-child 'dates.' Giving attention to your marriage doesn't mean neglecting your children.

    • @JJ-kf4kc
      @JJ-kf4kc 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If u listened closely to what he was saying, he says that first comes the marriage and then the kids come second. You need to listen through to the end.@@Anne-mn3rh

      @chananyahess5024 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      If you work on your marriage and have a great one, you will automatically have more time with your children. The key is to have a great marriage first, then your wife or your husband automatically won't need so much of your time from you, and guess who wins? Your children. You have usual at least a year after your married to worry about children, take that time and build your marriage and you will have a great life. But one thing to remember, marriage is something that always needs work even when it's a great marriage.

    • @mirjamjunginger3890
      @mirjamjunginger3890 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The best thing you can do for your children is a stable loving marriage. It gives them security and when spouses love and appreciate each other the children feel loved and accepted. Because each child is half mom and half pa.
      First God, second spouse, third kid and after a pause the bigger family, friends....

    To the comment about Rabbi Epstein seeking a Rav before he decides whether one should get married or not.
    I would like to inform you that Rabbonim seek guidance from Rabbi Epstein, and they ask him to make this decision!!!!
    Yes, there are times that Rabbi Epstein would approach the Gedolim to help him out in some instances. He is a very wise person, and he's not embarrassed to ask Rabbonim!!!!
    I know this for a fact!!!!

    Telling people that they should marry or not is a very big responsibility you need a rav to back you or u may get into problems that people can get very upset with you. There have been people who did this a received a lot negative feedback. And had to stop doing mentoring like u. Please seek guidance from a rav!

    • @Barry.640
