I have this to say. Mr Brief Case you are unique. Your formal and civilized, gentile descriptions of the subjects are so refreshing. Even the most foul of characters has a certain dignity. Bravo. Truly unique.
The way you told it... I have to wonder if Elizabeth was being sexually assaulted by her uncle. Naturally, I would NEVER use speculation as fact, so that doesn't excuse murdering. But I think I can see how she went "wild" and her uncle was using the will to keep her in line... His own worst enemy. I am so glad I live in an era where women can make their own living easily.
I think you lot might be sexual deviants. I believe her uncle, with her best interests at heart, may have been over protective of her. Maybe to the point of possessive. If all you lot can think of is sexual abuse, then maybe the problem is with you, and not the uncle.
@@jimmyavpi he said he treated her in a manor unfit for an uncle and gentlemen. Along with other old fashioned comments made. @Mark Carpenter its nothing of the sort. I'm from the UK and studied history ever since the late 1980"s and have never seen or heard anything of the like. I always look forward to your interesting and fascinating cases, as this one is today about, Elizabeth Jeffries. She should have heeded her uncle's advice and left the gardner alone, period. Trying to accuse an innocent man of murder, but justice was finally served for her and her gardner lover. Great investigating, presentation, and historical information, too.
Great story! Why didn’t she tell the court that her Uncle was abusing her from a young age, threatening her not that gave her the right to do what she did, but it may of saved her life! Thanks for sharing.👍

Yes. To be sexually abused as a child right into young adulthood. She must have hated her uncle and deservedly so. Not only that he was jealous and possessive in his abuse. A vile human being. Hello Brief Case 💼☺️ I was pleasantly surprised that there were two connected cases so I did go watch Mary's story again because it had been awhile. It seems that the young women were very tightly reigned in by their families, to the point of frustration and even rebellion (or worse). Families always trying to find the best suitors based on their titles/position, etc. Unfortunately these girls were misused by male relatives, and then because they were not very wise, they didn't have good discernment when it came to the company they chose to keep. I can say the same happens today. if the parents don't like him, the gal will see him even more. Even when they've been warned by others that the man is no good, before a woman learns who she is and has confidence, she will give her attention to any man who looks her way. If he whispers sweet nothings and makes promises...the young woman is totally enamored. She has lost all ability to reason and will believe anything the man tells her. Sadly for these two women that is basically what happened. They both found themselves with a bunch of scoundrels who were only after their money as they were sole heirs. Thank you for another interesting story and for sharing the connection to the other. How fascinating that they shared time in the same prison together. And I guess the love was lost when these two could not even look one another in the eyes as they were hung side by side. No last words of affection...🤔🤷🏻♀️ And yes I'd love to see/hear a presentation from yourself regarding your process. Have a great week!
I don't know if Mary's accusations were real. It was the go to back then in court. Especially because she wasn't trying to escape (run off with boyfriend) BUT wanted all the wealth for herself and boyfriend. That makes is very suspicious., They could have run off, got married, he would be able to get a job and provide for her and any children they had, No it was greed, AND she tried to frame another man for it knowing he would be executed.
