So I Tried Kovaaks Using A Controller...

  • I aim trained on controller for 30 days and This Happened.
    I’ve been playing FPS games on mouse and keys since 2016. Last year, I picked up Apex Legends and fell in love. However, one thing plagues apex’s mouse and keys players: Controller Aim Assist. So, I bought one for the first time in my life, and for the next 30 days, I will be aim training with Kovaak’s on controller, to aim as good as a mouse and keys player while benefiting from controller’s aim assist ingame.

    can i just point out that his pre-aim trainer clips showed some already pretty amazing control, particularly the long-range volt spray at the guy on the roof of the building? i literally can't hit more than 3 bullets of any spray at that distance...i really wish we could see an improvement video from someone who ACTUALLY sucks to begin with! not to put this video down, it's still very informative and well put together. but, like...dude-you are not bad with a controller when you start! urrrggghhh!!!

      Can I just say you should probably be doing less especially with controller. Lots of controllers players have this problem where they over aim instead of gently feeling out the aim assist. All these games including apex and cod you really don't have to put much into the controller to get crazy results.

    • @henry3397

      The guy above me is right. In games with strong rotational aim assist such as apex, the majority of your aiming is done with the left movement stick. Look up “aim smoothing”, you can quite easily completely get rid of recoil with this technique. Then, remember, right stick for big adjustments. Left stick for micro adjustments

    This is an amazing video and something I’ve been thinking about for a while. I’ve been playing FPS games since 2007 on controller. When all my friends jumped it PC I made the jump with them and immediately felt the disadvantage against PC players. Over the many years I’ve improved over time and now I can hang and sometimes top drag PC lobbies across different FPS games. This video has inspired me to give aim training a shot as well. Cheers.

    As someone who played Siege competitively on a controller. The big issue controller suffers is that there is no standardized response curve and it varies massively from game to game

      I'm sure linear is fine for Apex because it doesn't require super fine aim and because of aim assist but it'd never fly for a game like Siege

    if you just put in a certain amount of time onto a controller in apex you can get good aim very easily, even just through the firing range, controllers also really good because you can capitalize on your positioning and game sense, plus the factor of consistency in apex i tried aim training in kovaks on controller and i felt like practicing target switching was pointless unless i was playing genburtens alc settings but i do think the tracking scenerios could be good i just feel like doing this while playing 4-3 linear on roller wouldn’t really help

    • @ericjuan0220
      @ericjuan0220  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, I agree. I think Kovaak's aim training is best for 3 types of players: beginners to controller who have 0 basics, players who play on high sens ALCs, and players who lack microadjustment skills. The TS scenarios don't usually help that much, but static clicking and smooth tracking scenarios can make you stand out from the rest of the playerbase who crutch on 4-3 linear AA. I made a video recently seriously discussing this topic, check it out if you're interested :) th-cam.com/video/W4RKq7sn6L0/w-d-xo.html

    • @ericjuan0220
      @ericjuan0220  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      There are two reasons to aim train on controller. First, you don't get aimassist inside smokes, so if you can't aim properly without AA, you're always losing smoke fights. Second, aimassist can help with a lot of things but it cannot help with recoil control nor pathing. Recoil control requires very precise microadjustments that can only be achieved through deliberate practice, so is pathing. Kovaak's trains both microadjustments and pathing much better than the firing range.

    • @WuBrotherNumbaOne
      @WuBrotherNumbaOne 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I know this is an old comment but aim training is a really big help when it comes to training micro adjustments and flicking. Aim assists helps but when you see streamers or MnK users complain about aim assist the people they're dying too are not the beginners or noobs but even then the freedom and control the mouse provides is so much greater that it kinda negates any benefit aim assist offers. I started using conttoller cus it was so much more comfortable and even with a good amount of experience using it my aim with MnK was waaaaay better

    Don’t doubt you improved but games with insane aim assist like apex or cod isn’t really a good way to check if your in game aim improved. These looks like any other roller player clips. I’m sure you’re good but with this games aa I can’t tell if you’re as good or better than anyone else.

      I understand that. I think a good way to see how good a player is is by looking at their target acquisition speed and their crosshair placement. Every controller player can one clip, but most cannot make their crosshair stay leveled, nor can they accurate flick to another target quickly. I was a complete beginner to controller before this, so I've probably only improved from beginner to slightly above average level during this challenge 🤗

      @@ericjuan0220 that’s true! Whenever I see Verhulst do that he’s always jumping from target to target! And yeah your recoil control is really good
      I don’t mean to diminish your progress though, any roller player can one clip but it still does take skill

      @@Kino-yy8ou No problem :) I didnʻt take your comment badly at all. I was also struggling on how to show my improvement in the end when making this video, but in the end I thought that it would be best to just be real and show some gameplay footage. However, I definitely learned much more than what the clips showed, which Iʻm making a video about (actually Iʻm recording it as I type this comment) to discuss using Kovaakʻs as an aim training replacement to the firing range. Feel free to come back in a week or two to see the video :D

      Post yours then lmao. It’s really not as easy to be cracked on controller as everyone thinks. Just bc pros who play 12+ hours a day and have insane hand eye coordination pick it up quickly doesn’t mean the average person will

    aceu doesn't aim train. He got his aim from playing the game. Same goes with TenZ. He has already developed top tier aim before he started aim training.
    But I agree aim trainers work. Great video nonetheless though!

      Yep, neither of them got their aim from using aim trainers, but they both used aim trainers for a while when it first got popular, so I used them as examples to make a point for the opening :) Thank you for supporting the video, more and better content will be coming up!
