Your peach BUCKLE looks really tasty. A cobbler uses a sweet, drop biscuit type topping, leaving craggy edges for the fruit juice to bubble up between, looking like a cobbled road once baked. A buckle uses a more cake-like batter, like what you made. A lot of people seen to think all of these different (but similar) desserts are cobblers, but they're not and they each have a different name! Another similar dessert is a pandowdy, which also uses a biscuit topping, but instead of drop biscuits, it's one you roll out into the shape of the dish and fully enclose the fruit. Then we have crumbles and crisps, which have different but similar toppings which are sprinkled on top, and dump cake, which uses a cake mix sprinkled over dry and then topped with melted butter! I've seen all of these called cobbler!
For those who don't have the time, or space, to have a garden, you can still make homemade meals, using items you find on sale, and buy in bulk, for canning projects, to have ready to eat meals or snacks in a jar. Yesterday, I made 4 quarts of stroganoff, using stew meat I purchased at Costco. Today, I made salsa, using store-bought, organic, canned, diced tomatoes, and a can of Rotelle, with medium heat, green chilies. I haven't made canned salsa in over 25 years! Having the tomatoes chopped for me, made it an enjoyable, and easy experience, and I was finished before my husband was done talking to a friend, who rents our pasture fields, to graze his cattle on. Farmers, especially older ones, do like to "gossip"....especially the men! LOL! I also used a frozen onion/pepper mix, that I ran through my food processor, to chop into smaller pieces, so everything would be the size of the canned, diced tomatoes. This salsa turned out DELICIOUS! I ended up with 6 pints and almost an entire quart, that I put into the refrigerator for my husband and I to snack on! I'm not usually a fan of chunks of tomato in my sauces or salsa. This salsa had a very, "fresh from the garden" flavor! And it was too easy to make 😂
I did crack a smile when you were talking about the time it takes to get bread ready to bake as you were peeling the wrapper off the frozen butter. Thank you for another lovely video. ❤️
I think the nostalgia recipes like peach cobbler are what makes you actually like cooking /baking. I can see the happy memories you get when you are tasting! If all cooking could be like that!
I’m from Indiana, USA and just ordered your cookbook. Watching YOU make these recipes makes me feel more confident with things I normally wouldn’t make! I’m a cookbook junkie but my favorites are the old ones (I know you love them as well!) I have several from my childhood church fundraisers (one dated 1967 and I LOVE this one - it was my Grandmother’s, her recipes included!) and a Watkins company cookbook from 1946. Going back in time is priceless. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and your life!! ❤
I love watching your show, you are very good at doing all of it, reminds me of my parents who would can everything it seemed, and made bread every week. Love your show!
I'm really behind putting the garden to bed for the winter compared to where I was last year. I just haven't had as much time. It feels good when it's done though!
Thanks for the great ideas, I have been enjoying your channel since I found it. We seem to have a lot in common, from the way you think about using the measuring cup for oil and then honey so it slides out to the fact that I would rather be outside in the garden then in the kitchen cooking but still want to make good homemade meals for my family. Oh and by the way a fellow 🇨🇦 here as well. Seems we have a similar climate, what zone are you?
I love fresh bread! I have a Breadman bread machine that I bought about 27 years ago. I, usually, just use the dough cycle on it and didn't know if it still baked, but I got a new bread machine cookbook so I had to try it out. It still bakes a good loaf of bread! Hallelujah.
I have an old Breadman my dad bought me back in the early 90s, it still works fine! I thought I wanted a new one and found a brand new one, different brand, on Craigslist. I was disappointed that it takes a lot longer to make a loaf of bread, not sure why. I hadn’t considered that. I usually use the dough setting as well.
We never eat corn, in any form, when cooking, really don’t like it! Being dairy and gluten allergic, we tend to use a lot of ground almonds when baking. We don’t like over sweet food, and never add sugar to apples when baking, nor more than a teaspoon of sugar to a loaf. Maybe it’s a British thing, but American and Canadian cooks always add much more salt and sugar in recipes for us! Love watching you and seeing how manage your kitchen.
Love your videos. Just ordered your cookbook and looking forward to it. I have followed you over the past year, and so enjoy it. I am a farm wife and grow a large garden. I love to can. Love your bread recipe, I make bread from fresh ground wheat with my mill and also grind corn for cornbread. Nothing better that homemade from scratch!!! Keep the videos coming!!!
Hi! Ankarsrum, the machine formally known as "Assistenten" is from Sweden and the brand have been around for a looong time. They sold the name so no there is both the Assistenten and the Ankarsrum machine here. The newer Assistenten has a slighly smaller motor but the old ones and Ankarsrum is the same machine. My Mother uses the same one as she got long before I was born and I am 53 yo, it might even be my grandmothers old machine tho I am not sure. My partners Mother gave her machine to her daughter, when she inherrited her Mothers machine. Loads of ppl I know have their mothers or grand mothers old machines and they work so well. All the new/newer parts and attachments is compatible with the older machines to, it´s soooo great. I am thinking of buying one second hand, they can be found at fleamarkets and secondhand stores here in Sweden sometimes.
So my question to you since you took the plastic off the high tunnel and you usually put the bees in there during the winter to protect them now what will you do with the bees to protect them since they cannot go in the high tunnel and be protected anymore
I also have an Ankarsum and I love it. Just a note, you have to secure the metal arm. The mixer should be about 3 cm away from the edge. so that the dough can pass between the mixer and the edge of the bowl.
I’ve always admired your stainless steel cookware, adorable rounded sides, pots, and pans that you have. What are they? What brand are they? do you like them better than straight sided pots and pans? What’s the benefits to you?
Beautiful day! Chelsea, I definitely ca relate to you since cooking ,while I do it a lot , is not my favorite! Unless I am in the mood for it, a special day or a holiday when I really want to cook! I don't hate cooking but you know! Blessings!
I forgot my salt in my kneading my bread last week and then realized I needed to add it, so I added it and hand kneaded it at the end it didn’t seem quite the same. I just saw you hadn’t added salt to your bread during the additions of ingredients. Would have it been better to leave it out at that point? Thanks! Love your show, you have taught me so much!
Love your videos!❤️ What size mixer did you buy? Can you suggest a size mixer that might be appropriate for my household since I am the only one here. I do bake bread frequently but usually a loaf at the time unless I give some to my neighbors.
Hi, I noticed you use a dry measure cup when doing liquids, I was told to use a wet liquid measuring cup such as the Pyrex glass to get better measurements when baking. Do you find d a difference?
Love your videos can’t wait till your cookbook arrives 😃 we enjoy a soupier chili so I’d add a quart jar of my canned tomato juice to your recipe - we are odd balls when it comes to chili 😂
Enjoy your videos! So helpful and real! Also I soooo appreciate you not doing voiceover videos. To me they just take away from the “real” side of things. Going to try your bread! Happy autumn from Mississippi USA!

How did your Presto electric canner come out after it quit working? Was it the ring not on properly or the machine itself? I bought the same canner this spring and used it some this summer. Hoping I don’t have it malfunction as I can some tomatoes this winter that are in my freezer.
You may try looking up either in her Playlist or type in you tube search bar, little moutain ranch butternut squash and see what pops up. I do know she has several recipes on pumpkins and squash. They all look amazing. I hope this helps.
