The httyd trilogy is a dream work masterpiece
The shows are just as good!
One of the bits of this movie I rarely see acknowledged is when Stoic tells Hiccup "You're not my son," and after he slams the door behind him, you see him stagger, as if not believing he actually just said that. It's so powerful.
Do you watch CinemaWins? He mentions this scene in his HTTYD video, and I was so glad he did, because it's a detail I love.

The eel thing gets explained in the TV shows. For most types of dragons, except the typhoomerang I believe, eels are literally toxic and depending on the type of eel can mess with their perceptions or kill them. At least, that's how I remember it.

This is a masterpiece I personally could not spend years without seeing it. So happy u got around to watch it, can’t wait for the sequels!
By the way, Eals make dragons feel sick and its like a drug for them. It was explained in the TV series in season 3 or 4.
? In rtte there are giant eels and I know eels where a point before but you do know that Riders/Defenders of Berk only had 2 seasons? And I'm pretty sure it was explained before rtte....or am I confusing something?

There is an episode that explains why they don't like eels
They don't like eels because if they eat an eel it'll make them really sick
(And I mean really sick) blurry vision
Explosive coughs (fire blasts non stop)
But there is one Dragon that can eels without getting sick
But that's why the Dragons don't like eels
Yep, that was one of the best world building episode
How To Train Your Dragon is quite possibly the best movie ever. I remember seeing it in theaters when I was little and having no idea just how big it was going to get in the coming years, or how much it would rock my world. Every time I watch it I feel blown away by the sheer mastery the writers have with their storytelling. The music, the art style, the animation.. it's just perfect in every way.

forbidden friendship itself is literally a masterpiece. the most beautiful piece of music i have ever heard, and the scene was just amazing. i get teary eyed every time i watch it
About Hiccup pretending to eat the fish? No no couldn't XD Toothless even told him to swallow- my guy was trapped.

Only watching rtte is lame. If you want to go into that stuff then start with riders of Berk. Then the shorts, and then rtte. You know? they are canon
Not to mention riders of berk and defenders of berk.. which were the first 2 seasons.. untill they moved to netflix with race to the edge.
This movie gives me so much nostalgia and the soundtrack is a work of art, meaning I never get bored of it. Thanks for the reaction

Such an underrated classic!
There are two tv series called Defenders of Berk and Dragons: Race to the Edge that take place in between the first and second movies! They explore how all the characters become closer to each other and their dragons. I totally recommend watching them when you get the chance!

This is one of my favorite movies ever
uhm, the stuff with the eels is explained in the shows. I'm not so sure abour riders/defenders of Berk but I know it's a point in one of the first episodes of race to the edge so....Maybe check the shows out? It's worth it. They're great

If you ever watch the TV shows, there is a specific order for them: Riders of Berk, Defenders of Berk, Race to the Edge.
They fill in that 5 year gap between the first two films.

In the TV show, there's an episode called "The Eel Effect" where Toothless accidentally swallows an Eel trying to save Hiccup from some rather aggressive Eels. He got super sick and his fire shots got way too strong for him to control and he nearly kills Hiccup.
Favorite line in the whole franchise, 'thank you for nothing, you useless reptile' 😂

to be fair, it's not exactly hiccup's fault he's not big, as in he doesn't have much weight. Some people, like me, don't gain weight, no matter how much we eat. some people gain weight, no matter how little they at. it's partially genetics

They explain the eel thing in the sequel series. Pretty much it turns them into a crazed rabid like state if they eat it.
on the series show they actually explain kinda what the eels do to them, they're toxic and psicoactive when a dragon eats a eel they can get really sick and confuse.
I watched this as a kid & that dragon is so adorable!!
it's one of the best and most beloved trilogy/animated movies ever and we fans are so damn proud and happy to see people fall in love with this franchise for the very first time like we did and applaud it for the masterpiece that it is and if not the most beautiful scores/soundtrack to ever exist ❤️

There are two TV shows and one netflix show that come from this trilogy that explain a lot about what happens in the movies and they’re amazing on their own. You should really check them out if you like these movies! 😀
You always gotta have brains not just strength like the dragons will fight if you fight them like dragons are like many animals who want to and will defend themselves if they feel threatened like no need to always choose brutal force.
