Homemade is good but sometimes you just need the stuff from a box. That stuff is it's own distinct flavor and you can't make that from scratch. Sometimes it's a great thing
YO PLEASE DO NOT SLEEP ON "The World Ends With You". It has smooth combat and an amazing soundtrack, and it came back after more than a decade for the anime adaptation.
Also, a few notes to anyone looking at the Nintendo Switch version: - The remaster has a heavily modified version of the game play to use a single screen compared to the original Nintendo DS version (the iOS/Android ports also did this). It loses a decent amount of the unique gameplay appeal in the process, IMO. - The motion controls for playing the game docked are AWFUL. The cursor on screen constantly wobbles all over the place and has to be repeatedly reset just to be usable. I don't know if that's a problem with Nintendo's JoyCons given the drift issues they frequently have, or just bad programming, but I found it practically unplayable. In the end, if you have access to a Nintendo DS and are interested, I'd highly recommend getting the original version. It's not hard to find at a relatively cheap price and has some of the most innovative ideas and gameplay I've seen in an RPG and oozes with style. The DS got a bunch of these more experimental titles during its lifespan and The World Ends With You was one of the most shining examples. If you missed it, it's worth going back and taking a look even today.

It has the updated graphics and while the combat isn’t as clean as the DS it is loads better than the Switch. Switch TWEWY also got rid of Mingle pins and changed the evolve system. Just a heads up.

I love that during the fires up here in the PNW, while everything smelled like campfire, you were like, "You know what I need in my life? More smoke. I need a smoker." I laughed so hard at that. I lived within a mile of the evacuation zone from the fires this year and would have done almost anything to escape the campfire smell that had invaded every part of my home. I felt like it had infected my taste buds and it ruined everything. Glad you and the wife and the cats were okay!

TWEWY was an amazing game. Despite having an iffy mobile and Switch port, it was fun to play. I mean, it even got enough popularity to have the characters be used in a Kingdom Hearts game!
This was posted on my break. And I immediately made wild boar stock and remembered I cant make shadow ramen. Sooo made something good cuz I'm jealous of the sight of this ramen. Got home 3 hours ago and starting making Adobo with Kanbu and Benito flakes. And started boiling it. I then slice red radishes and bleached it take it out after a hot minute then pickled it lightly with lime and lemon juice with pink salt put it in a fridge until the rest was ready. Grilled garlic and onion until it charred a bit. Then I shoved the adobo, garlic ,onion,kanbo,bonito with some of the water it boiled in and stuck it in a blender. Strain that bitch. I used some hominy that was left over from my menudo. Pressed the wild boar till it slowly shredded a bit then I added all of the ingredients in. I slightly toasted cabbage. Sliced a lot of green onions. Picked my cilantro from my garden washed it cut it up and this with radishes were my garnishes. And aaaaah it's good but wish we could trade lol This recipe is wild boar pozole

I still remember grinding out dozens of Absolute Shadow Ramen back in the day, Dark Matter from Taboo Sho, tons of money from frogs in the river on the bonus day to buy the noodles and mystery liquid. Damn that takes me back.
I saw the research you were doing for this on Twitch and felt bad that I can't attend the streaming sessions because, ah, black vinegar is SO GOOD and I'm pretty sure that was a thing your research sources were using. The flavor profile is pretty different from regular white vinegar, melding perfectly with soy sauce, and I've only ever used black vinegar on my pancit, dumplings, or soy sauce eggs ever since.

I can't believe I found this video, ever since I played the game more than 10 years ago I wanted to taste this damn black ramen.
