I think Sam got way to used to the voice of Knuckles in the current games to the point where he was in disbelief for a second when he heard Idris Elba's voice for the red echidna.
The first movie was musically themed with Green Hill Zone, the first level from the first Sonic game.
The second movie is musically themed with Emerald Hill Zone the first level of the SECOND Sonic game.
You can see that this movie is actually made by people who love the game

The first film felt like a movie featuring sonic, this one feels like a proper sonic movie.
It's kinda nice how earnest the new characters are. It's not Dune levels of self seriousness, nor should they really be as stylized cartoon characters, but there wasn't any real sarcastic joke about their designs or slapstick gag to diffuse the situation. It's like the filmmakers are really excited to be able to show Knuckles and Tails on screen!

Always loved the Chaos Emerald, as well as the Master Emerald, so seeing people get hyped just to see THAT, makes me really happy
For whatever reason, the part that got me the most hyped was seeing that they’re incorporating the badniks in. I missed those guys.

I knew after the epilogue when Tails appeared there was going to be more, it's like I always say when you make a movie this great, people gonna want an encore, and thanks to Sega and Paramount, we got it :)

i played Sonic as a kid but not that invested to the lore because i didn't have the Sega console and had to play occasionally at my friend house, but i'm happy to see fans are happy with a good adaptation like this, hope the good trend continues

Sonic was like a main part of my childhood, I was and still a big fan of the games, cartoons and now the movies, I'm as excited as these people.
Love the Godzilla King of the monsters music in the opening. Wow, I can't believe we live in a world where 2 of my all-time favorite franchises are getting the big-budget Hollywood treatment ( and I mean that!! Sonic and Godzilla I love more than anything. Star Wars, MCU DC, ect anything). I just can't describe my happiness for the time we live in for this to finally happen. Hopefully, we get a continuation of the monster verse and this is the start of a Sonic movie verse ( SCU? lol)

So it seems a pattern of three charecters introduced per film...one as a cameo...so...
Film one was Sonic, Eggman and Tails as a cameo
Film two will be Knuckles, I would guess at metal Sonic and Shadow as a cameo
Film Three...I would want Amy, Omega and then Rouge as a cameo
And so on and so forth.

I don't think it's the Master Emerald like some suggested it was. The emerald is described as being "the source of ultimate power", and we haven't really known the master emerald to do much aside from controlling and neutralizing the chaos emeralds, thus why it's called the master emerald- it is the master to all the other ones. Sure, it very likely has its own set of powers, but given that we saw what seems to be the temple of the master emerald in the trailer, I personally think it's more likely that the master emerald will be utilized for that very purpose- to neutralize whatever Robotnic is powering with the chaos emerald(s)
