There was a Mario Brothers movie a long long time ago but the movie was so god-awful it made no sense whatsoever all of the Goombas and the turtle creatures in the movie looked like aliens strands of mutated animals from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles it was literally beyond weird and the story itself made no sense of what really was going on and it seemed to be all over the place like the director did not study the game series at all I'm just hoping that this movie will make a lot more sense than the last one that they made back in the 90s or 80's I mean when you have so much knowledge out there in the world of the game it is hard to screw up a movie based off of a video game franchise and those that do screw it up are idiots that did not study the history of the game or its story

Chris Pratt is funny and is a good actor, but why have him as our favorite childhood Italian gaming character? I was totally expecting Charles Martinet! We could’ve heard Mario speak in full sentences with his voice for the first time! All Mario says over the years is a few phrases and all.

Jack Black was a fucking perfect casting call. Seriously. He's got the metal exuberance that is the core of Bowser's aesthetic, he's actually got voice acting experience, and he appreciates games as a medium. You couldn't have picked a better person to voice Bowser.

the problem with most of the casting is that most of these characters already have established voices and we know what they’re supposed to sound like so they now have a pressure to replicate that and i don’t have high confidence that chris pratt can do a good mario impersonation

Nothing against Chris of course no one's laughing at Chris, everyone is laughing because NO ONE can see him as Mario, I REALLY hope they chose Chris for a reason, and not just because he's a popular big actor,

Part of me feels like he”s the odd one out here. Like, everyone else either fits perfectly or are literally just so out there as picks that it works whereas Chris is an out there pick but not too far out there? I dunno, the dudes a fantastic actor IMO but he feels more like the star power pick if I’m honest.
With Anya and Charlie, I feel like they fit practically perfectly for the roles, Keegan defintiely doesn’t fit for toad but that’s why it’s funny, and Jack and Seth are so fuckin bizarre that it has to work.
Chris, as a casting choice, has the most up against him seeing as he’s more in line with Keegan as Toad, seeing as he doesn’t fit perfectly like Anya or Charlie but he also isn’t as bizarre as Jack and Seth, but Keegan has less star power and the contrast of Keegan’s voice coming out a toad is comedic gold, whereas Chris’s voice isn’t really that special or interesting, it’s just kind of “normal American action dude” voice which I tihnk is what’s making people confused since, unlike, the others, there’s very little reason why he’d specifically be cast for anything but his title. Makes me interested to see what he’d do.

So in summary: The most universally disliked is Chris Pratt as Mario, the most universally liked is Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach and the reactions to the other casting choices are split. I mean Jack Black as Bowser also seems to be pretty well liked, but there's also some people laughing about that one.
