    Great vid as always Matt, just a tip but if you want to transfer the drawing to the other side you could always drill at the corners of the shape and connect the dots on the other side. Love the build and can't wait for more!

    I'm glad to see you embracing the plasma cutter. You were killing me in some videos where you were using the grinder instead. More nice work, keep it up.

      +Sean Ross I prefer the grinder on thin sheet metal

    Matt, it's a moot point not a mute point. As long as you are correcting nomenclature.

    • @bleepinjeep
      @bleepinjeep  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Adam Payne isnt that what I said?

    • @fixins
      @fixins 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +BleepinJeep You said "mute point," twice @ 58.00. I'm not trying to be a prick, honestly. Just letting you know. I dig the videos.

      +BleepinJeep Love your videos but AP is right, it sounds like you're saying mute point instead of moot point. Thanks for your videos! :)

    Nice work, I'm excited to see how the steering all comes together so I can get some ideas. haha.

    the frame on my cj7 is now 2x4 1/4 inch square tube. i had 1/2in + of clearance between my frame and steering shaft. while off road it would flex enough to jam the shaft and stop my steering. so u might want to watch out for that

    I like your videos and am probably more than a little jealous of your shop, but past eye witnessing kinda compels me to caution that it's risky to use a drill press without securing the part to the table. You can be gravely injured if something goes wrong.

    I mustache you a question: after you put it all back together, any thought to a one-piece tilt-forward hood and fenders for easy access?

    Love the videos. What is the spline for that column to fit the stock steering rod?

  • @DoRC
    @DoRC 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    is the frame rail going to be strong enough without getting crushed by the force of the steering? I've had rails crush and crack just from a regular box. I know its reinforced on both sides but there's nothing in the middle.

    • @bleepinjeep
      @bleepinjeep  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Kenny Downs Ive never had a full hydro box before but there shouldnt be any force... its just hydraulic fluid flowing through the lines.

    Do you have a part number for the adapter you used?

  • @aaronward7526
    @aaronward7526 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why the choice on full hydro? removing pesky steering linkage? Curious because I chose assist due to if the pump, lines, or ram go out I could still turn the tires to limp off the trail.

    • @workshop_from_nothing
      @workshop_from_nothing 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Aaron Ward full hydro is much easier imo when doing link suspension due the the articulation usually being more than what any steering linkage can handle full hydro is just two lines from the orbital drive to the diff and its job done
      just use good lines and run them out of harms way

    • @aaronward7526
      @aaronward7526 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Even good lines can pop. Had an imperfection in one of my assist lines blow. But was able to get out of the trail and on the trailer. I guess I'm just fond of a plan B.

    • @workshop_from_nothing
      @workshop_from_nothing 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      i guess it could happen but if the hose was rated duble the max line pressure then id find it unlikelu that a hose will simply blow out surely you need to have some other influance on it like abrasion of inpact
      just my thoughts.. if somethign it operating at half its rated pressure and has no outher influsenes can you see how its hard to belive a hose can blow out?

    Hey matt,any advice you can give to me for talking my parents into letting me get manual xj or tj. They think it will increase my percentage of crashing (im a pretty good driver) even though i drive my dads manual truck all the time without a problem.
