    That sound in the first week that’s awesome(I’m a violin player so I sounded like a dying cat in my first week)

      Thank you, I'm not sure what I was doing with the raised pinkie, though 😂

    Awesome progress at both 1 week and 2.5 years! I know I wasn't nearly this good at either of these points. An easy thing to improve for now is try to remember to keep your left elbow nice and lifted. I still have an issue with this after playing decades if I'm tired, haha. But it does help to get a better angle on the strings.

    Awesome! Did you have previous experience with other instruments? I'm 30, and I play the piano to a decent higher-intermediate level, and I've been thinking about picking up the cello!

    Sounds good! I think you can bow more though. It will brighten your tone and especially for this song make the quavers sound nicer

    How often do you practice?

    • @fromwithin8916
      @fromwithin8916  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In good weeks, 1-3 hours a day; in bad weeks, 1-3 hours all week.

    Nice progress but the classical cello and the electric is not a fair comparison together

    Are you using any IR with this yamaha ? congratulation the weight loss as well ;-)

    • @fromwithin8916
      @fromwithin8916  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you, I've lost 65lbs in a year! In this video I'm using one of the 3Sigma French Cello IRs run through a Line 6 Pod Go with some reverb and a touch of delay. I also had a room mic to catch a little of the unamplified sound.

    • @damien2198

      @@fromwithin8916 65lbs that s impressive, I still have some to lose this year ( took me 2 years to lose half of that). Is there a large sound difference once IR is applied between your cheap electric cello and your Yamaha ?

    • @fromwithin8916
      @fromwithin8916  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@damien2198 Hi, I don't have the cheap electric cello anymore. The sound difference between the cheap one and the Yamaha is already massive. The IR pack came with hundreds of variations, so you have to pick the right sample rate (48kHz for the Pod Go) and then experiment with them to find what works. A lot of them sound quite muffled, so you need to tweak the EQ a bit to make it clearer/warmer, a bit of gain, a bit of compression, and it makes a big difference.

    • @damien2198
      @damien2198 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fromwithin8916 Thank you. Which pack are you using ? French cello form Sigma?

    • @damien2198
      @damien2198 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fromwithin8916 By the way, did you just reduce your food intake or went to something like water fasting or carnivore diet to achieve that awesome result?
