    My beloved grandfather lost his parents, 2 sisters and a brother in Auschwitz in 1944, he managed to survive with his twin and another younger brother. The worked as jewellers and came to the UK via Denmark. The twins lived unlit their 99th birthday, the youngest was I’ll most of his life and died in his 40s. I saw this film on my own as my wife couldn’t cope with the storyline, my heart breaks for what we lost as a family and as a cultural nation. The sad thing is I can see us as a world heading back to those times of ghettos and it is still very much a world of them and us. This music score is a masterpiece and is as great if not greater than any classical piece written by the greatest maestro’s in history.

    When Spielberg asked John Williams to write the score for Schindler’s List he showed him an early cut of the movie. Williams stood up and walked out of the screening room. He came back in a few minutes later crying and said “you need someone better than me to write music for this.” And Spielberg said “I know, but everyone better than you is dead.”

      It was the first - and last - time I was in a cinema where, as the credits rolled, everyone (and I mean everyone) stood and applauded. Then filed out quietly, no conversation.
      Williams’ music made a huge contribution to that stunning narrative.

    Christian, Jewish, Muslim, all get left behind. This music is pain described in its most sublime, most vulnerable form. I think the cello is better suited for this piece of music as the tone is deeper and almost lamenting in its plead to humanity. Remember what you did, don't let it repeat! I listen, I cry and I repeat.

      What has never happened? The Holocaust or the real-life German businessman Oskar Schindler who saved more than a 1.000 Jews from Holocaust? Both have happened. Maybe not as particularly as pictured in the movie, nevertheless I think you should be more careful or precise when saying such things. One could easily think you wanted to deny the Holocaust or what Oskar Schindler did.

    This is so haunting so poignant, and yet so beautiful makes you cry and breaks your heart in two, the cello like the violin sounds as if it is crying, the soloists cellists and the orchestra make this melody more than a masterpiece bravo, as we listen to this melody we are able to look back at the horrific suffering of adults, children and infants, Mr John Williams is an amazing legend combining a melody that pulls your heart strings and creating pain and suffering in one musical note. may we continue to remember all those who suffered horrifically in the Holocaust God bless them all and may they all R.I.P, and may all the survivors God bless them all and may they all find the strength to FOREVER carry on with their lives .may we as a human society learn from this and make sure this NEVER EVER happens again.

    28 years ago, I saw Schindler's List... and it really affected me very much to a point where I felt depressed for one whole week and couldn't shake it off.. even saw a doctor about it. I felt painfully haunted by the music especially...I have since then, tried not to think about it, or even watch it again or even listen to the theme music...Yesterday, I braved my emotions and watched this searing and haunting 2-cello rendition of the music... my emotions were still there about the movie but I am alright now... remembering what the doctor re-iterated is the lesson of the movie - "one life saved is a generation saved..." My father also said that since time immemorial, despite being God's chosen people, they have always suffered persecution, yet come out more resolved and resolute... I don't know if I could still watch the movie... I will take it one at a time but right now, I shall enjoy every note of this beautiful music. Bravo!

    A moving piece indeed...... you can hear the desperation, hopelessness and sadness invading the room, the cries of millions lamenting losing their opportunity to live, sad and yet so beautiful. This music makes you think and remember something we must never forget, a time when our humanity was in peril to disappear!

    Without a doubt, one of the most important movies ever made. I made my children watch it with me, it conveys the truth that was the REAL Nazi.
    When people call any American they disagree with a Nazi, the denigrate the souls of those that died in this, the greatest struggle between true good and evil in the history of mankind...

    • @gershomtan3597
      @gershomtan3597 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The movies are meant to paint people as good or evil. Real life is much more complicated. When you judge people as solely good or evil you forget and discount all the things that make them human in the first place. I ain't defending the animals who deserved what they got, just those who will forever be remembered as "Nazis" instead of what many of them were, scared Germans who knew that their lives were worth just as much to Hitler as those he called less than human. Wars are rarely started between good and evil, but thankfully sometimes good comes out of it. The plight of the Jewish people was something only really understood and known near the end of the war, and it certainly wasn't the reason anyone went to war in the first place.
