Behringer Edge with the RD-6

- Still getting to grips with this new toy.
I could play on this for hours having fun. I thought I’d have a go pairing it with the RD-6 to keep a steady beat as things can get a bit crazy with it.

I'm first and foremost a guitar player, but I love (small) hardware synths and drum machines, because the user experience is so different from playing the guitar f.inst. You might start the ride, but soon you're just a passenger along for the ride, or perhaps a better analogy would be you're just catching a wave and riding it. I really appreciate the immediacy of this type of performance.
Thank you for the nice words. I am also a guitar player mainly. I bought my 1st synth about 4 years ago (Roland JDXi). This was so I could add some drums and bass lines to create songs. I then got hooked on creating electronic music. Your analogy is spot on, I just play and go along for the ride wherever it takes me.

Excuse what is probably a beginner's question, but how are they synced? I see no midi cables.
I used a patch cable coming out of the low tom trigger on the rd6 going in to the adv/clock of the edge. Had the toms playing on all 16steps. Everytime a tom plays it triggers the edge but the volume of the toms is turned down.
@@toyzintheattic thanks! Why not just connect with midi cables though?
@@Lucas-np3ru connecting this way I can remove some of the toms from the 16step sequence and get some real weird and different patterns. I very rarely use midi
@@toyzintheattic I get it, the edge pattern is triggered on and off by the tom pattern and so you get shifting patterns on the edge. Nice idea.

how did you manage in conecting and setting both devices. i can hear no sound on edge when I plug the trigger cable
Go from Low tom trigger out on RD6 in to the trigger in on the edge. You then need to light up all the low toms on the RD6 and turn the volume of the toms right down. You can even experiment and light up just some of the toms

@@toyzintheattic I'm still somewhat intellectually curious about the RD-6's ability to "Poly-Chain" with other synthesizers. The Poly-Chain menu function is not on the latest version of the Behringer SynthTribe application. Is there such a menu option with the Edge? I have 3(x) TD-3-RD's and 1 RD-6-TG and have had very mixed results.
