Minor comment, regarding the screen about connections where you said "This screen has no reason to exist", thats to choose which device to connect to. It can only CONNECT to one at a time, but it can remember multiple (my MTW2 can remember 3 iirc), so I use that screen to move my pair between my Switch, Ipad, and Phone.

I own both pairs. Just got my TW3s in today. Sound quality is much better, bass more intense and blue tooth connectivity is 10x better. The TW2s had poor Bluetooth. (At least mine did) sennheiser killed these new ones. 10/10

So far i had only bad experience with sennheizer. Had the mommentum 2's for 2 years and then it ended. Ive been keeping them safe, using them safely, and they started having horrible connectivity problems. One earbud shutdown until i replaced it, then the other one started turning on ("power on, power on, power on") on loop and this is the moment where i said, im done with this 350$ crap.
Not really exited for the 3's, it means paying more 350$ to maybe get those tbrown away after 1-2 years as well. Bad decision mate.
I rather buying jbl earbuds with way wider eq settings, longer battery life and better durability

@@shoerice5083 Yeah i owned the MTW3 for 3 months. The sound, especially the lower end is really good, but everything else sucks. Connectivity issues, not charging, the earbuds not wanting to output audio for like 5 minutes after waking up, the little nozzle filters coming off if you try to use tighter tips, and then the right earbud just broke completely out of nowhere and started flickering, so i returned them.

@@shoerice5083 If you can live with using over ears the Momentum 3 Wireless (without the "True") might be for you. I am aware that they have been replaced by the 4s, but they are relatively cheap now (Sennheiser still sells them new), foldable, sound great (you can use them with Bluetooth, with the 3.5mm audio cable and even via USB-C audio, which is awesome for quality) and the material choices are much nicer. They're made of metal and the ear pads and headband are made with real leather. (Only the casing of the earcups is plastic) For the time I had them they worked great. No connectivity or charging issues. As a student you can get them for as low as 224€ now, directly from Sennheiser.
Seems like their in ears are generally not the way to go. My CX True Wireless (which I had before) also broke after 3 months.

I like Sennheiser products and would prefer them over others if the price wasn't so high. Because of that, I got the Buds Pro for music and ANC and they have become my go to earbuds. For mostly calling use where arguable better mic quality and vocal clarity is required, I still prefer the Jabra elite 2 and use them for calling when I have them. I really hate headphones whose volume is bound to the phone's master volume. Most of the time, I like my phone's volume maxed and headphone volume set much lower.

Also, the Cambridge Melomania 1's have a similar control scheme with the tapping. Each side held changes volume, single tap is play/pause, double tap is next/previous depending on the left/right side. Triple is assistant. Honestly, that's about all I need for controls because I just grab my phone for anything else.

To my ears these 3rd Gen Air pods are more comfortable compared to the newer Pro version with the soft gel tips. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxgl8SzyQoymMu-S3V55Dskg5QJ8xr1yCR That said, compared to the 3rd Gen, I notice these do not stay planted in the ear as well. One design issue I think, is you squeeze the stem and click it twice to advance your songs. On 3rd gen you tap the large speaker. The difference is by grabbing the stem each time, you tend to loosen the bud fit in your ear. Not always, but the bud falls out a few times while running. The old tap to change never had that problem for me. I would not have changed that tap function. That said, the newer Pro version sticks in the ear, almost airtight if you want that. I do not like that Airtight fit. So that's why I'd stay with this version as the best trade off of comfort, use, and overall feel.

Some things to note, where this review kinda threw me for a loop, when deciding to purchase these headphones.
    1. This does not have Multipoint loaded into the firmware currently, BUT Sennheiser has stated they intend to add Multipoint in the future through a FW update (that's great news)
    2. The seperate volume controls isnt a Sennheiser thing. Its a Android thing. You can toggle the settings on your phone in android and not have separate volume controls.
One thing I am interested to find out is how the Noise Cancellation stands up. Some reviewers are stating the noise cancellation is top tier, rivaling sonys, some say even better. This was the only reviewer that stated the noise cancellation wasn't noticeable. I suspect he didn't fit the tips to his ears to form a seal, which would effect noise cancellation. I don't know if these will be the best headphones. But as far as I can tell, they are the only headphones that have wireless charging, single earbud use, USB C, fully customizable touch controls, and then promise to add multipoint support (all of which are a deal breaker for me if they arent a feature). Jabra's are the only one that comes close, but they don't do single earbud use lol. Its almost like these manufacturers work together to provide ALL but 1 essential feature, and Sennheiser might actually break that mold.

As an extremely happy MTW2 daily user, I'm even happier to say that the new MTW3 buds are noticeably better sounding, better fitting, nicer looking, and have very nice noise canceling. The ui control options and layout is better too. The fit inside the ear is more comfortable for me thanks to the new silicone fitting that hugs the outer part of the ear hole entrance. I thought the spec differences weren't going to be anywhere as noticeable as they are but these sounds quite a bit better to me. I also love the bass boost option for much of the music I listen to. They really did it right on these as I love intense punchy bass without muddling up the mids and highs and my God, these are perfect imho. I've owned every high end bud I can find so far and nothing has stood up to the MTW2's until now. If you already own the 2's and want to know of its worth the upgrade, I say it absolutely is! The sound quality is amazing, the punchy bass option is unbeatable for bass you can both feel and hear, and the noise canceling is so impressive. I have large tractor and zero turn mower with a large and loud engine right behind my head and I cannot even hear it with the MTW3's in. It's shocking actually. Couldn't be happier with these. Sennheiser killed it. Now I can't wait for whatever they do with the next gen in a few years.

For me the MTW2 fit way better, at least with the tips Sennheiser included in the Box. Now, I know I have big ears, but Anker manages to include tips that fit my ears in their 50€ headphones, why Sennheiser can't manage in their 250€ headphones is a mystery to me and left me a bit miffed. The included wings are also an absolute joke and are like a centimeter away from gripping onto anything. Again, Anker managed to include actually functional ones in their product that is 200€ cheaper.
The MTW3 do sound better than the MTW2, once you find thrid party ear tips that actually achive a good seal, but they still aren't as good as the MTW1 (which were sadly not really usable, due to battery issues).

The onboard amps on the products are already not very good so you are at a hardware limitation. You have to find some really sensitive drivers that don't distort to get EQ to work effectively. Imo apple's managed to get it to work but they had to pour tons of money into driver development to get the DSP to not suck.

Ever since Sennheiser's consumer lines got purchased, it's been disappointment after disappointment all across the product lineup, with the one exception being the IE 600 (even if those are kind of dead in the water against something like the IER-M9 or Blessing 2 Dusk). I feel like they are sitll messing up their priorities. The EQ is embarrasingly limited, the focus on audio quality is still not what you'd expect from an audio dedicated brand, and overall the MTW3 just feel a tad... confused to me, like they arrived 2 years late to the TWS party and are having too hard a time catching up and deciding if they wanna prioritize audio or fall into the mainstream

I don't see how any of these alternatives for non-apple users are convenient enough to compromise on sound. for the prices some of the tws options are asking for, you might as well get some wired iems tuned to your liking and then attach them to the fiio utws5

Ease of use, ANC, good battery life, comfort. These things matter to a regular consumer. And by trying to make a mainstream product, Sennheiser is failing to please both audiophiles wanting a good sound quality with decent mainstream features, and the mainstream audience wanting a comfortable convenient package that sounds nice

@Carl Gunderson They are not subjective. It's why frequency response graphs exist. What's subjective is what someone enjoys better. The reason the pros are better is they actually have bass, the bass response on the non-pro is lifeless and lacking, they are very shouty and peaky. That, and both the soundstage and resolution of the Pro is better. Now, if you want less bass on you AP Pro, you can EQ it out, that's preference, but trying to EQ bass into the regular AP makes them distort across the entire frequency range because they can barely handle it. It's not about everyone becoming an audiophile. It's about an average consumer getting something good, instead of having a downgrade "just because they won't notice"

    • @Katoptrys
      @Katoptrys 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@Carl Gunderson Sound is not subjective, the hell are you going on about? A sound is a frequency. I was super pissed that either android update or earbud update eliminated this feature from my skullcandy buds and bound the volume to seemingly having the buds at max and only being able to adjust my phone volume either with the earbud or the phone volume.

@@GamblerBE if my phone is sending a maximum volume out put signal to the output device then yes it does. I can run the output of my earbuds at a lower volume. Literally the same concept for any bluetooth speaker. If the volume is bound and the only volume you are controlling is the output from your phone or tablet or whatever but the speaker still goes to max volume it's because the speaker is always at whatever volume output the phone is at. If you can lower the speakers pre amp to a lower output it's using less power. I do understand what you are saying but if you test this you will find the results are extremely different running low phone and high speaker compared to high phone and low speaker, or having it bound to the phone.

"It's weird that it has to look for the device when it's already connected to my phone" - no, it isn't. The app is asking the phone to pass it the ID of the device - the phone could have any BT audio output connected, as far as the app knows, when it starts up. The app has to ask the phone what earbuds are connected, the phone has to respond, and then the app has to decide if those are MW3s. An app is not your phone, and this is a good thing for security.

They never truly turned off so you could fully charge them, put them away for a couple of days and they'd be dead before you get to use them again. I won't buy anything from them again after how bad my experience was. And I've loved their wired headphones for many years.

I couldn't buy anything from sennheiser again. The lack of support from them in pretty much every way with the originals just put me right off them. Had they just come out and given some money off the gen 2's or had some kind of replacement program so you could pay a little and you'd get the fixed version I'd have been fine with. But nope, just an overpriced terrible product with zero support.
I tried a few sets out and honestly the best wireless buds right now are the Sony wf-1000xm4's. Apps good, battery's great, connection is flawless, microphones are awesome and the sound quality is better than the original true wireless by some margin. Oh and the active noise cancellation is ridiculously good. Easily beat the air pods pro, which I don't say lightly.

No, the MTW3 are better in pretty much every way than the MTW2. Slightly better sound, smaller, better battery life, etc.
For me they didn't include tips that fit, while the MTW2 did, but to be fair, I have very big ears and it wil likely not be a problem for anybody else and I could fix it with a pair of 10€ tips. While I was a bit miffed, especially since Anker manages to include matching sizes in their 50€ headphones, it's likely not going to be a problem for 95% of people.

Having the volume of the Bluetooth device independent from the source volume is much better IMHO, I always decouple them in the settings when possible. Doing it that way gives you much more granular control over the volume, and it lets you set either the source or the sink to a good level and make fine adjustments with the other device.
