I've listened to music to fall asleep for nearly 33 years. For the last 15 years I've lived next to someone who raises chickens and someone who has dogs. They are neighbors to each other behind my lot. As a result I've started wearing earbuds to sleep through the dogs barking at the chickens at 3 AM and the rooster crowing at 4 - 5 AM. I really appreciate Linus' input on how comfortable earbuds are to wear while sleeping.
I'm not Linus but I'll tell you from experience they're very comfortable with the right tip but I've also had a couple of days where they fell either under my bed or got lost in my white sheets for a little while haha.

the transparency mode is just eerily good in the new airpods. I was in the grocery store and the music was blending with the background noise perfectly--to the point where it was like my life had its own soundtrack in a movie.
It’s insane!! Like I work construction and I don’t have to take them out at all anymore. Everything sounds so natural it’s unbelievable. I’ve been pondering recently that maybe in the future we really won’t take them out at all because the technology will make your hearing way better. Transparency mode makes everything sounds almost more crisp than my natural hearing
Lower listening volume really is one of the undersold benefits of ANC. It's so easy to creep up the volume in loud environments and end up not realising how seriously loud the volume is.
The reasons for his short-circuiting is the reason I ultimately left the apple ecosystem for android. As soon as you are not 100% apple you are now second class and it's just f***ed. Had to sell an apple watch 2 bc it doesn't work with anything else. I didn't like itunes library and preferred things like bandcamp and google music (rip) and ran them through an mp3 player app. (Apple deleted all non-itunes stuff back in iphone 5 times) I like his raging, it makes me laugh but with a twinge of PTSD.
Hey Linus, a small tip for ya : big corpos remove/shuffle usefull buttons and features from time to time to create artificial frustration so that when they put it back, you get overwelmed by dopamine and fall in love all over again...easy trick 😉
You can actually reduce ANC. If you go into the control center settings and add the “hearing” function you can then adjust ANC reduction, transparency amplification, monitor audio levels, and a lot more
sorry its too complex for linus, washing down apple is way easier. just see how he refuse to say its the best ANC earphones. then slip of tongue mentioned he will use these new ones until its "dethroned". the hate is real
I love the accessibility settings. I have a few dB hearing loss on one ear compared to the other and it usually bugs me so much. But with the built in adaptation based on your audiogram, that's fixed. I'm also tempted to try out some of the other features like Conversation boost, to see if that helps pick up on conversations in very talky environments.
For real. I’ve been off Android for around 2 months and new generation iPhone has really good features and it is very comfortable. Never switching off PC but the Mac computers I’ve used at my university have been very comfortable and AirDrop is soooo good.

In Linus's defense, Apple has always put form before function... Whenever people ask me to fix their tech issues on an Apple device, using set device for only 2 minutes gives me sadistic urges to drown set machinery in the creek behind my garden. The menu's are just so illogical, as if they where designed by a 7 year old buffoon! Not that I'm a nontechnical person, some of the code and hardware I helped develop is orbiting around this globe... Yet can't figure out any logic behind Apples GUI, cause there is none!

I’ve been very anti Bluetooth headphones for a while now but the latest gen of AirPods Pro headphones have tipped me over. I have to confirm that the sound quality is excellent. They are the best wireless headphones on the market. They’re great for all genres and uses. The sound signature is spacious and analytical, nothing feels overpowering and for a single dynamic driver they do not disappoint. It’s only been two days of use now and I already forget that I’m wearing them and can get a solid 5+ hours before they need to go in their charging case. They are definetly a step up from the first gen. I found the initial pros very mundane and tight sounding to listen to. Good job Apple, you finally converted me over ffs
I had my AirPod Pros for two years (no warranty), one bud started to crackle every now and then so I popped into Apple to buy a replacement bud, and they did a test of both buds, advised that both had failed their test, and then replaced both buds for FREE. I have still bought the AirPod Pro 2s and and delighted with the performance improvements ❤
They have replaced many things that were out of warranty. Many years of products between my wife and I and we had a phone camera fail after 3 years that was replaced for free, and a bad battery after 2-3 years replaced for free.
@Nahid Islam that's not true. They have replaced mine and i did not buy before that. It might be what is stated on their website but they do go ahead and test buds purchased later too.
Yeah, units made typically before Dec 2019 had some sort of manufacturing issue. I had mine just shit the bed a few weeks ago and they swapped both. Now I'm having a hard time convincing myself to get the new ones.
I have configued these with my own Audiogram, as I have been avoiding the $6K or more price tag for hearing aids....and these are not a large leap away from what I have tried with loaner sets of hearing aids. I am still messing and fine tuning settings, but pretty incredible for $250 price.

I went through a number of different earbuds before finally breaking down and buying these. These are literally the only ones I’ve tried that I can keep in my ears for an extended time without discomfort. I always thought the stems looked stupid, but like Linus pointed out, it actually works better than touch controls.
@koiundwrru571Bose qc2 are trash. Please trust me. If not, buy them from Bose and you can take them back easy... They are wayyy too pitchy and too low volume. I had to set the treble to -10 and it still sounded like trash. My wired Bose from 15 years ago sound better at 80 bucks.
The problem is, Apple USED to be the easy to use and intuitive device. Android has taken that from Apple. Android devices may not have the backed in eco system of the Apple, but simple tasks such as getting to ANYTHING settings, or going back, or even just checking emails are sooo much easier on Android devices. I can honestly say this, as I daily an Android and an iPhone. I begrudgingly daily the iPhone as it is a work phone.
@@Sethiol73 I miss the drop-down menus in the quick settings tiles, as I used them all the time to quickly pair and unpair bluetooth devices and wifi networks and basically every Android flavor has dropped that functionality as far as I can tell, which is a real downgrade.
It's so funny because everything he complained about has a solution which he claims doesn't exist. - Quick access Bluetooth settings: long press on the Bluetooth button in the control center, then it will pop up your devices. There's a button for Bluetooth settings there. It's not a one tap "go to settings" but it IS there. - Music app: you don't have to pull on the grabber up there. Just swipe down anywhere on the screen (usually on album art) and it will dismiss the modal now playing view. - iOS does not need a back button because you can just swipe to go back, it works in every app (or at least, it *should* according to Apple human interface guidelines) and if you just want to exit the app or switch between them you hold the home bar and swipe up. Once you learn this it's just second nature.
@@swiftrealm This! I get it, he doesn’t like Apple, but take 2 seconds to learn how the OS works before bitching! You can literally swipe down from anywhere on the screen except the very top to go “back” much easier then a button.. That’s why the indicator is at the top of the screen!
My issue with the first gen pros was neither of the three sizes would stay in my ears. They would all fall out. So having a fourth size compels me more than the other features.
The exact same for me! In the end I got some slip over silicone sleeves with ear hooks on…a little faff to put them on and off each time I use them, but so much better for security of the fit.
@@jackyzhou3642 I thought the same, but it could be meant in the way that they never got in the ears properly due to the too large tips and therefore never held in and fell off.
I always had loads of issues with in ears falling out until I realized my ear holes were super small. So far though, my best fit with in ears have been the smallest size tips that came with my Truthear Zero IEMs. I've been on the hunt to find similar eartips for my Moondrop Arias, which have memory foam eartips that are almost perfect but still slowly make their way out. My Truthear Zero with the smallest tips have been the only in ear to ever just lock into my ears and I've been obsessed with trying to find that fitment lol. It's definitely worth giving budget IEMs with a few styles of eartips a try if you think you're one of those people stuck with the old wired Apple Earpods forever. Nobody should be condemned to dirty buds for life.
I never ever thought upgrading from the gen 1 pros to the gen 2 (I got the gen 2 for free) would actually be that different but my god are they good. Such an improvement on an already awesome product in nearly every way. So comfortable too that I’ll often forget I have them in my ears for hours at a time. And the sound… they really are beautifully sounding!
Try using both generations of earphones outside in a noisy environment walking along the main road, or on a bus. The noise cancellation is even more impressive now.
@@konradbenz7110 Evidently Sony has them both beat. From what I hear though? The transparency mode on the AirPods 2 is godtier. It would be the only reason I'd have to buy these.
I've slept with earbuds in for probably 15 years now. So comfort is a huge thing for me. I originally had the Galaxy Buds, then switched over to the Airpod Pros and that was a huge step up in comfort and sound. Would love to be able to purchase the Pro 2's but that price is steep for me.
Best Buy accepts a good condition pair of AirPods Pro’s as a trade in for $55. I’d still rather sell them on marketplace or something for more than that though
@@guspaz it don’t work everywhere apple sometimes wants you to hit “done” or the top left “back arrow” or swipe down a bar like Linus did for music they say iOS is easier to use but almost nothing is universal across the system!
I've been waiting to see what Linus thought of these I've had them for about a week now and I absolutely love the gen 2 definitely an upgrade from gen 1 even tho they look so similar. The fact that Apple pretty much nailed the pros first try and were able to improve them nicely for the next gen is awesome.
Every single app on iOS seems to have their own idea of "going back". It's a complete mess. Some you can swipe back. Others you need to click the top left button. Others you need to slide down something. Others you need to slide up. Others have a back button somewhere else. Others it's a button you have to click like "Ok" or "Cancel" or whatever to close that. This happens between Apple own apps too. And inside the same app. Apple Music is such a great example. You can swipe back on some places, have to click the top left button in other situations and finally the one demonstrated in the video, you have to swipe down. Inside the same damn app you have 3 or 4 different ways to go back depending on where you are, and you have to know which one to use. iOS might very well be the most confusing and inconsistent UI ever in terms of navigation inside the UI.
To be fair, you actually can long press the Bluetooth button from the drop-down menu to get Bluetooth settings. Linus was just doing it wrong for some reason.
i had to rewatch it because I wasn't sure what happened, but he did long press it, and then tapped bluetooth settings, which promptly took him to the main screen.
I am a 57-year-old professional musician in a symphony orchestra. I am leaving this comment here for others like me who are in search of this specific information. I use Finale (a music engraving application) all the time. I live in a noisy house. I work in a noisy environment. I suffer from tinnitus. Using earbuds plays hell with that tinnitus. My MacBook does not offer enough volume when using Finale so I have to use headphones, which causes me difficulties with my tinnitus, and which - over time - could cost me my orchestra position. These Apple AirPods Pro 2 are wonderful. Because of the noise cancellation and the very good range of sound, I can use them for hours at a stretch without too much of a penalty to my hearing. This is because the noise cancellation allows me to hear every detail of my arrangements with the volume turned down very low. I can work in Finale all morning and go to rehearsal that evening without any issues. The tinnitus is not affected at all. The constant super-high-pitched tone cluster is still there 100% of the time, but it does not grow more audible like when I have to use regular earbuds. This is an amazing product and well worth the price just for this one reason. Plus, these fit my ears and do not fall out. One of my ear canals is smaller than the other, so I use the pre-installed "medium" tip on the right AP and the "small" on the left one. Perfect! If you make a living using your ears you can use these safely. And they sound very good, too.
As someone who has just switched from using android to iphone for the first time in 10 years the whole ios is incredibly unfriendly to navigate when some apps use swiping to go back and others rely on a small back button on the top left hand side of the interface. I totally agree with the rage about the back button not being there. I found it so easy to use. The main issue is there is not uniformity across all apps so the gesture swiping left is not reserved for back, some apps support it and others don't. So you have to figure out which swipe or back button to press just to simply go back. I wish apple would sort this out!
I ended up with the rattle in my Gen 1s, so transparency mode and ANC are trash for me now. I’ve been using them in standard mode to avoid the rattle, but that defeats much of the purpose. Can’t wait to fire up a pair of Gen 2s.
Did you request a replacement? I think they say they’ll give you one free replacement. Also, idk how accurate it is, but I saw someone say that cleaning all of the holes and sensors can fix the issue. It’s something to do with the pressure, the second gen have a vent to prevent this issue I believe
I had the rattle issue also and Apple replaced my AirPods for free. In my experience if it’s a recognised issue with the product Apple are really good at fixing it for free even if you’re outside of the regular warranty.
This is a known issue with the early production first gens go on Apple Support or to a Store and they’ll provide a free replacement. I’ve done it, was super easy and no hassle.
I have convinced myself that the white case ages like a leather case, changes colour and picking up character. The longer you have it, the more 'yours' it becomes.
Yeah idk, I’m debating whether I should get a case to prevent the color change. But that kinda defeats the purpose because the only reason to prevent the color change is so that I can see the pristine white, which I can’t do with a case
Quick questions, when you replaced your first set of Airpods Pro, did you contact customer service and got them replaced? Apple extended the warranty of Pro’s that were produced in the first year to 3 years, since they had a manufacturing flaw which caused those crackling noises etc. I recently got mine replaced, bought them Oct 19 and Sep 22 they were immediately replaced. It took 3 days from getting them picked up by UPS to receiving a new pair. 10/10 experience.
Is it just the first year? I got mine replaced for crackling almost two years after the initial purchase, and now the replacements are starting to crackle.
I'm not convinced this manufacturing defect has been resolved. Mine are from 27th November 2020, Apple refused to fix (under warranty) the crackling issue because the extended warranty applies to airpod pros sold till October 2020...
@@zeten no, i have a friend who has the exact same problem, new pros, again crackling.. He’s got warranty though, when they are replaced you receive 1 year warranty again

I had Sony XM3 earbuds and they were great when they came out. I got a pair of Pro gen2. My god these are insane. The ANC is just out of this world and the transparency mode is a life changer. Also; I thanks to the software I now know I should have been using a different size tip. I think is probably one of Apple's best products. I highly recommend.
I’ve noticed something… Apple and Sony launch their ANC over-ear and in-ear headphones every other year. Which means they’re sharing both markets. Interesting. I feel like they might do this with the Linkbuds series and the regular Airpods too (non ANC true wireless earbuds)
I recently bought the XM4s but I would be really interested to see this comparison too. Given how he raved about the XM4s I'll admit I wasn't blown away. Are they using those fake heads they made a big deal about a few months ago to do proper objective audio tests yet?
So would I. I rotate Airpods 2 to Bose Earbuds 2. I can configure the Bose to where I want, not so much on the Airpods. However, the BEST NC on the planet belongs to Bose, hands down. Put those in full NC mode and I am oblivious to everything around me.
Hi Linus Loved your review clean and to the point. You completely forgot to mention the Adaptive Transperency Mode. The "under Apple ID" access to AirPods settings is only on iOS 16 and the "back gesture" is only invoked from the left side of the screen.
Really? You can only swipe back from the left? That makes no sense. Giving that most people are right handed your thumb is already on the right, so swiping from the right is better. I use swipe controls on my pixel and allways swipe from the right

@@talonhackbarth7652 It makes perfect sense if you look at it in action. On Android, the swipe is essentially a button press. You swipe and the back action happens. On iOS you are physically moving the current screen away to reveal the previous one behind it. Animation and the flow of iOS makes it into very natural motion. Its hard to explain in text but if you felt it in person you would understand.
@ that isn't an excuse for not having it available from both. just update the stupid animation to wipe the screen the other way and reveal the previous screen behind that. we swipe from right to left to say no in almost all apps that use that, so why not do it for back as well.
No it’s horrible That you have to reach all the way across as someone with a hand Injury it’s painful to do and apple is so paranoid about you using back any other way that all the accessibility option’s intentionally leave out going back as an option. Imagine if you could just double tap the back of the phone with back touch. So easy but nope. Idiotic.
Saying this as an owner of the previous generation of airpod pros these sound incredibly better, and the longer battery life is awesome. Loving them so far.
These earbuds would be the only product I would like to buy from Apple, but they essentially block it by forcing an iOS dependency for FW updates & settings.
Apple released software to update fw outside iPhones already. Worst case go to an Apple Store and let someone do it for you. It’s free and I hate downloading software for one time use before uninstalling.
@@sensnowy Sure, that is always an option, but still a dealbreaker unfortunately. I need to be able to update and configure the plugs at home with Windows or Linux based software. And obviously Android would be the jackpot, but I'm not holding my breath on that happening ever.
For my fellow "anything but Apple" people... My previous daily driver Sony WF100XM4s have been dethroned by the Samsung Wireless Buds Pro 2. They beat the Sony in every respect (size, comfort, sound quality) except for the ANC. However, I find that unlike the Sony, the Samsung doesn't have any undesirable side effects to the ANC (like picking up wind noise or thumping in my ears as I walk) so I just leave ANC on at all times. With the Sony, I find myself switching modes frequently. Nice that the touch controls can be switched off on the Samsung, too, which is great if you want to wear them under a helmet without them doing things when you take the helmet on or off. And the case is TINY.
I just purchased the Sony Linkbuds S ($150 at best buy) after returning the Bose QuietComforts buds 2 ($299) because they were bulky and uncomfortable. I thought I'd have the same problem with these Sonys but they're actually the most comfortable buds I've worn. Quality of the buds all around is great, my only complaint is the case opens and closes too easily which makes it seem cheap/fragile but otherwise I prefer the Sony linkbuds over Samsungs, Apples, beats, and Bose's buds (especially for half the price of it's competitors). Recommend to anyone looking for quality buds, especially if you're on a budget.
These are an improvement over the 1st gen buds. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxK5mc3yw4xA7Mf2j6k6n1Uqv_KUgrKdeM Pros: The fit is fantastic. This is the biggest plus. They stay in my ears when running and become unnoticeable. They are tight but comfortable. The sound quality is about the same as the 1st gen buds. They pair more easily with my LG G8 ThinQ and immediately reconnect when removed from the case. The sound balance is excellent, good but not overpowering base and clean mid tones and highs.Cons: The noise cancellation is good but perhaps a little less effective than the Bose ANC on the 1st gen buds. Passthrough mode as not as good as the 1st gen buds making it a little more difficult to hear conversations when in passthrough.
Apple is literally advertising how their noise cancellation got 2x better with the 2nd gen. I compared them and it's a night and day difference to the 1st gen, so I don't know what you are on.. Also transperancy mode improved and sounds more natural for me.
There is an intensity slider for noise cancellation! It’s in the accessibility settings for AirPods, then you go in to control center and edit the amount of noise cancellation from there!
Why would you put the setting there though? Like under accessibility? That seems like a kinda assbackwards way of implementing that setting. Surely you'd just put it in the bluetooth settings when airpods are connected?
I can’t find an intensity slider? I only see no noise cancellation, noise cancellation, or transparent. Checked in accessibility and control center too
@@37racso oh you’re right, i haven’t had AirPods for while. That was my mistake, I confused the two. But there is a way to adjust the transparency mode, i don’t know what application you would use noise cancellation adjustment for to be fair. Either you want it off or on. Though, If you want noise to be canceled out but still hear things I’m sure that if you turn down the volume of transparency mode, the physical noise cancellation mixed with transparency would be enough to hear but not be blasted in the ear by noise, Or you can just use it without transparency mode activated.
@@angelaizen2231 I think because of they don't want a normal user to mess with these kind of setting because it could lead to user error problem like why is my right airpod is louder than left or why i my iphone touch screen doesn't work(accidentally turn on gesture control) so they made it harder to be access. And if you're kinda tech guy you know where to find an article or setting anyway or just call apple and ask.
I had the regular gen 2 AirPods for years and was smitten with the sound profile. Sure it wasn’t perfect, but it was seriously impressive given the form factor. I was always confused by 3D touch… I had it on my iPhone 8, but the only time I think I ever noticed it was when I held down on apps on the Home Screen.
I loved everything about my AirPod pros except that they didn’t fit well enough to stay in my ears without constant adjustment. I hope the design gets to a place where I can use them at some point because the ENC and transparency are awesome
I just had one pop out and bounce under a cement truck. A real main-character moment. I tried two Apple reps, both said I’d have to pay $90+ for a replacement. I loved the noise cancelling so damn much, but the fit issue is real bad. I did try a couple sizes and went through the software fit-test. It’s just bad.
I’m just holding out until everything Apple makes the switch to USB-C, which will apparently be next year. I’d rather not be stuck with Lightning when it’s on its way out.

I’m not sure why nobody has said this, but there are settings for customizing transparency mode… They’re actually very impressive, way more in depth than my XM-5s. Not only that but there are settings for phone calls and media playback, and to top it all off you can play various white noises, stream, ocean, and rain sounds which can be controlled by triple clicking the lock button if you enable accessibility shortcuts. To access these settings click on your AirPods in the settings “app”, then scroll down to accessibility, and then click on audio accessibility settings. I'm glad Linus mentioned the rattling. My right AirPod Pro (gen 1) rattles when set to ANC or transparency mode, but no issue when noise control is turned off. Drives me up the wall and has taken away one of the selling features for me. They're barely 18 months old.
I had the same issue with mine, though they were 12 months old at that point. Apparently this is a known issue and after a quick trip to the Apple store they replaced the defective earbud. If I remember correctly, the airpods pro 1st gen are covered for 2 years, but I could be wrong.
Apple had a silent call back for AirPods released before a certain date. I had rattling with mine with ANC and transparency. I was able to take them to an Apple Store, they did there tests and they gave me free replacement AirPods. And I was outside of warranty.
I had a rattle in my first set, they exchanged it for a pair of new ones free of charge of course. Had my 2nd set for one and a half year now and no new rattles 👍
I really want to get one, as it's the only earbud that seems to be comfortable when you laying on bed sideways, I even had a sleep phone which the flat speaker still uncomfortable overtime, but being a hardcore android user, I don't really cares about not seeing battery life but not able to update firmware without iPhone or iPad is a huge problem

As a iPhone user that used to use Android, the missing back shortcut is pretty annoying lol. Apps can open or switch pages in different ways, which means you need to change your gesture to go back (hinted by the transition in, which you can miss) or look for the button which can be anywhere. Convenience vs Elegance.
4/5 apps just let you slide from the left edge of the phone to go back and it works seamlessly. It's nice having dedicated buttons but I've never found that any hindrance
@@jamiepoirier1444 oh for sure, most of the time it’s pretty consistent behaviour. The back gesture was great because you can even ignore transitions. Obviously Apple isn’t going to like that haha.

I too use an Android exclusively. I have the Sony XM4's and they are BY FAR, the best sounding ear buds I've ever heard. HOWEVER, when making calls, people can not hear me or it sounds as if I'm in a can or under water...TERRIBLE for calls. Sony even replaced them for me free of charge, but...no difference. I will be selling these and getting the Airpod Pro 2's as soon as I can1 I have a pair of the OG airpod Pro's and they sound "ok", but call quality on the Airpods cannot be beat. Great review!! Subscribed!! Thanks for the video!!
This is my first set of AirPods of any kind. Im loving them for everything they provide. As a frequent flyer, these are gonna replace my Bose 700 from here on out. I agree on the color choice. Would’ve loved a Midnight color option
Two things: 1. with noise cancellation I didn't even notice the washing machine was on and I saw things on the machine vibrating and took off my airpods2 until I realized that it's drying and loud af. 2. In transparency mode I was locking my electric motorbike and when it's locked the alarm goes off once like "beep". I was so used to the sound of the beep that because it was much less volume I thought it was broken. Then I was testing with other alarms on the bike until I saw weird unpleasant faces around me. I took off my airpods only to realize that I've been blasting the alarm sound to everyone around me but I was the only one that couldn't hear it. I was in transparency mode. I did this all the time with 1st gen airpod pros. Man took me some time to get used to everything but it's so cool tho.
Just got off a flight with AirPods Pro 2s and the noise cancellation is insane. Didn’t hear anything but my music and at 1/3 volume. I like these a lot.
If the earbud tip getting dirty is your issue just switch out the tip. Apple gives you a replacement for every size. I’m sure there’s some aftermarket black ones too if you want the off color to not get anymore yellow stains. But at that point, a tip getting yellow should be a sign to replace. Earbud tip replacements should be like switching out your water filter for your brita. Also personally, the 1 color way makes it feel more exclusive. No other wireless earbuds that are white look nice. Apple perfected the look.
For drowning out a baby’s noise you can use ear plugs you know. Most are crappy but I use these wax earplugs from the German brand Ohropax (manufactured since 1907!), which come with 6 pairs in a small box roughly the same size as an AirPod case which only cost a few dollars. They drown out all noise and give you a good night’s sleep. Sometimes low tech is better.
12:37 is me EVERY TIME I try to use my wife's stupid iPhone. GIMME A BACK BUTTON! It's seriously the #1 reason I'll never switch into Apple's ecosystem.
Oh no I think I'm gonna have a culture shock. I'm used to just swiping my left screen to the right horizontally to BACK. I wanna try iPhone for the very 1st time.. I think it's gonna take long getting used to it.
That’s the problem for me, apple does the more complex every day things better, than it comes to the basics, USB 2.0 speeds on a 2022 flagship, Back-buttons, and stuff like that, things that are just holy frustrating
Awesome bud as always. As an owner of both the s22 ultra and iphone14pm why not try the galaxy buds 2 pros? They feel amazing and can be used on both products. I happen to think they are amazing and it has a smaller case. I also wish apple made a matte black AirPods offering because of your same concern, most white products when used often because of natural oils and stuff tend to yellow after awhile and I’m a clean freak. Only option is to order through colorware for an extra price. I would get the beats fit pro but waiting for an updated model with wireless charging.
I just got my AP2 and why am I surprised that I can still hear things in noise cancellation mode? I thought I shouldn't be able to hear a thing. Quality is good not mind-blowing as other people make it seem imo. But seriously the noise cancelling was why i bought it and it is surprising that I can hear sounds still.
I hate how expensive all my apple products were but they do last and it's nice that they all work together. I just now upgraded my phone from the 10Xmax that I got in 2018 to the new 14 Pro. I just ordered these new AirPods adn they are supposed to be delivered tomorrrow. I also just upgraded from the airpods 2nd generation. Great review as always!
I was using a hammer and each hammer blow was instantly deadened by the anc. Truly mind blowing. I still ended up returning these because the ANC causes my eardrums to rotate sometimes. I’ll have to figure something else out for an all day earbud. I don’t think my ears like ANC so I think I’ll go with the link buds that are open backed.
@@jaredk7540 eardrums can rotate to relieve pressure. I also had ear tubes when I was little. My hypothesis is that the slight differences in the noise cancelling sound waves are creating weird peaks and troughs that my ears are picking up, causing inaudible but very strong frequencies to make my eardrums adjust, causing discomfort. Just a hypothesis, though
Linus not knowing the gesture controls and instantly getting angry over it was some weird stuff. I think in his iPhone review where they started the gestures he said that they became second nature after a day of use, but I guess they become completely foreign when you daily-drive an Android.
Seeing Linus trying to swipe the wrong direction to go back is just painful. My god, at least make an attempt to learn how to use something before you shit on it and make yourself look stupid.
@@bolts3catch Oh man, "You're holding it wrong!" is what Steve Jobs said when the iPhone 4 dropped calls when you hold it in a way that blocks out the antennae. And that way was the normal way.
It’s because he moved his finger as he was “holding” on the control centre so haptic press never activated because he moved, and then he had his hissy fit
Linus keeps asking why AirPods are only made in white. The white color is Apple’s brand identity for AirPods. If they were black, people wouldn’t instantly recognize that they are an Apple product. Simple but effective marketing.
I'm a little disappointed that the Pixel Buds Pro didn't even get a mention in the end, since they are so often referred to as the AirPods for Android users. I feel like they're one of the very few that pretty much nailed touch controls, comfort and reasonable enough audio quality like Apple did.
That's the thing though, Apple and Sony are on top tier level now because their sound is past 'good enough', their ANC cannot be challenged and AirPods Pro 2's active transparency mode is unmatched and in their own elite level l.
So amused that Linus is also annoyed by IOS not having a standard Back Button/Gesture. That is the main reason why I permanently switched from iPhone to Android after using both for a while and getting used to how easy it is navigating around in Android. My last experience with iPhone was IOS 12, so it may have become better...
noooo you have to spend minutes navigating through menus to do stuff and pump your fingers muscle swiping left and right, that's the future, best phone in the world /s I absolutely feel Linus here because this were exact feelings I got when tried iphone for a few days trying to switch to apple ecosystem (I had macbook air and airpods pro for a half a year at that time) and the shit just kept not working, like switching between devices, many stupid design decisions by apple... so in the end I raged exactly like Linus and sold everything and reverted to my old stuff (windows, samsung+android, bought huawei freebuds pro) and have not been any better since then because this combo helps me get my shit done better and faster as it turned out because freebuds have real multipoints which is very neatly switching between calls on the phone to the audio from another device it was at the february 2022 so no apple still sucks if you got used to use your devices like a smart devices they intended to be and also get through your workday
I've listened to music to fall asleep for nearly 33 years. For the last 15 years I've lived next to someone who raises chickens and someone who has dogs. While serving his Hot Takes!
The reasons for his short-circuiting is the reason I ultimately left the apple ecosystem for android. As soon as you are not 100% apple you are now second class and it's just f***ed. The sound signature is spacious and analytical, nothing feels overpowering and for a single dynamic driver they do not disappoint. It’s only been two days of use now and I already forget that I’m wearing them and can get a solid 5+ hours before they need to go in their charging case. Lord_Ishamael: That's p o w e r u s e r stuff 👁👄👁

Did you request a replacement? I think they say they’ll give you one free replacement.
Also, idk how accurate it is, but I saw someone say that cleaning all of the holes and sensors can fix the issue. It’s something to do with the pressure, the second gen have a vent to prevent this issue I believe
my gen 1 airpod pros put out little volume out of both pods and their suppose to be water proof so I don't understand why
I’m firmly convinced that at some point that off-white yellow aesthetic will become a widely accepted vintage look. It already has a niche following.
Yeah idk, I’m debating whether I should get a case to prevent the color change. But that kinda defeats the purpose because the only reason to prevent the color change is so that I can see the pristine white, which I can’t do with a case
@@xij3505 and it will probably just turn the colour of the case 😂

@@XLR8bg thats though, i bet if you argued more with the support guy you would be able to get a fresh pair. I’ve opened a chat with support in the App and the guy was super nice.
Maybe you can write messages, regarding how awful it feels to use them during your daily activities, like riding bicycle and jogging or something similar. I think they would rather replace them instead of losing you as an overall customer.. Good luck 🤞
Even if you are out of that additional 1 year warranty they are still covered under the AirPods Replacement Program
I highly recommend.
sony xm4, probaby 3 too, also has the ear tip software
I’ve noticed something…
Apple and Sony launch their ANC over-ear and in-ear headphones every other year. Which means they’re sharing both markets. Interesting. I feel like they might do this with the Linkbuds series and the regular Airpods too (non ANC true wireless earbuds)
Thats not exclusive to apple you couldev upgrade to anything new since the xm3 are already very old and prob had the same experience

Apple UI pisses me off, be it on the iPhone or their laptops. Just seems very unintuitive to me who is used to Windows and Android.
would love to see a short circuit about the Bose qc earbuds II, especially compared to the airports pro 2 and Sony XM4s
I'd rather get the galaxy buds pro 2
I recently bought the XM4s but I would be really interested to see this comparison too. Given how he raved about the XM4s I'll admit I wasn't blown away. Are they using those fake heads they made a big deal about a few months ago to do proper objective audio tests yet?
They’re ass. Galaxy buds pro or air pods pro 2 that’s it
So would I. I rotate Airpods 2 to Bose Earbuds 2. I can configure the Bose to where I want, not so much on the Airpods. However, the BEST NC on the planet belongs to Bose, hands down. Put those in full NC mode and I am oblivious to everything around me.
I'm planning to return my xm4 tomorrow cuz it's way too big for my ears.
Hi Linus
Loved your review clean and to the point.
You completely forgot to mention the Adaptive Transperency Mode. It measures outside noise 48.000 times per second and reduces noise above 85 db to below 85 db. And it freakin’ works!! I walked past a guy who was using a industrial leave blower and boom the AirPods reduced the noise instantly. If you have an Apple Watch (which you don’t, I know 😊) you can read the outside vs inside noise
All the best

Idiotic.
That is sooo bullshit making it from the left side. Like I am left-handed but wtf, how many people are left-handed? Just pure ignorance from apple.
Watching Linus lose his mind on every Apple themed short circuit is just bliss 🙂
ye his love hate relationship with apple is beautiful. 😂
That grip case is literally the first thing I’ve ever bought from a sponsor ad. Well done. The glitch camo design looks 🔥
The lanyard loop also works as an antenna according to iFixit
Loving the linkbuds but strangely enough, they have connection issues with my Ipad Air 😢
I'm with ya... They nailed it... just need to come in 1 other color (Black)
Checked in accessibility and control center too
There is no such setting for me. There is the transparency mode adjustment but that’s an entirely different thing
I switched to the gen 2 Pros, and I’m even more impressed. All things sound-related are phenomenal on these (music, transparency, noise cancellation). I just can’t get the damn things to stay in my ears through all activities. I wish they could be my everything headphones, but I’ll probably get gen 3 AirPods for the house, and only use the Pros for office and travel.
just came from the WAN show regarding the back-swipe part of the video and it seems that segment has been removed, which I don't especially understand
3D touch is sooooo nice. I understand why Apple removed it, because most people didn't use it. But I use it almost all the time with my iphone X. I really hope they bring it back one day.
Main reason why I'm sticking with my XS for a long time ahead. And, they removed some of the functions 3D touch had, working with links, etc.
I was always confused by 3D touch… I had it on my iPhone 8, but the only time I think I ever noticed it was when I held down on apps on the Home Screen.
lol this is like watching someone try to put a square peg in a round hole and getting angrier at each attempt. made my day.
I’d rather not be stuck with Lightning when it’s on its way out.
why not try android phones? yes, apple's expensive gated ecosystem has its perks. but it also has its own set of frustrating challenges and android devices are already on usb-c. so why not stay/switch to android's ecosystem?

I’m not sure why nobody has said this, but there are settings for customizing transparency mode…
They’re actually very impressive, way more in depth than my XM-5s.
From there you can set up the background sounds such as the ocean, or click on Headphone Accommodations.
With Headphone Accommodations on you can scroll to the bottom and click transparency mode in order to fully customize it. Or click custom audio setup to change settings for phone calls and media playback.
I would say these features are needlessly hard to find, but I found them within 5 minutes of opening my AirPods and I do not make millions of dollars off of a tech review TH-cam channel….
I daily-drive the WF1000-XM4's, and have the Linkbuds for when XM4s are charging (and for when I have to interact with people but don't want to have to worry about taking the earbuds out of my ears). ANC on the XM4s is SO GOOD!

I carry the case for them in a thigh pocket (I'm always wearing cargo pants, so I have the extra room, and carrying both the XM4 and LinkBuds cases isn't a problem, and they've become part of my everyday carry.
I use the xm4s constantly at work. Love them.
I hate not hearing my environment as it just makes me a bit paranoid, but I also really love audio quality. Since you have both do you think the linkbuds sound good and are the xm4's that big of a jump in audio quality?
@@HoloScope You can't compare linkbuds and XM4's, they're for different purposes. From an audio quality or audible pleasure perspective, the linkbuds sound "bad". But that doesn't they are bad. They're for those times when you have to be aware of the environment around you but still want to hear music. Think daycare/nanny or office environment. The audio quality on XM4's is really good. I'm glad Linus mentioned the rattling. My right AirPod Pro (gen 1) rattles when set to ANC or transparency mode, but no issue when noise control is turned off. Drives me up the wall and has taken away one of the selling features for me. They're barely 18 months old.
Your Airpods Pro might be covered under Apple's replacement program. It is a known issue.

Convenience vs Elegance.

2. In transparency mode I was locking my electric motorbike and when it's locked the alarm goes off once like "beep".

Linus keeps asking why AirPods are only made in white. The white color is Apple’s brand identity for AirPods. If they were black, people wouldn’t instantly recognize that they are an Apple product. Simple but effective marketing.
Best part is Linus rage on gestures ❤
I'm a little disappointed that the Pixel Buds Pro didn't even get a mention in the end, since they are so often referred to as the AirPods for Android users. I feel like they're one of the very few that pretty much nailed touch controls, comfort and reasonable enough audio quality like Apple did.
That's the thing though, Apple and Sony are on top tier level now because their sound is past 'good enough', their ANC cannot be challenged and AirPods Pro 2's active transparency mode is unmatched and in their own elite level l.
Man, DBrand's relationship with Linus is just my favorite sponsor for videos.
Kind of surreal to see an apple products new model release with added useful features rather than taking them away.
So amused that Linus is also annoyed by IOS not having a standard Back Button/Gesture. That is the main reason why I permanently switched from iPhone to Android after using both for a while and getting used to how easy it is navigating around in Android. My last experience with iPhone was IOS 12, so it may have become better...
noooo you have to spend minutes navigating through menus to do stuff and pump your fingers muscle swiping left and right, that's the future, best phone in the world /s
I absolutely feel Linus here because this were exact feelings I got when tried iphone for a few days trying to switch to apple ecosystem (I had macbook air and airpods pro for a half a year at that time) and the shit just kept not working, like switching between devices, many stupid design decisions by apple... so in the end I raged exactly like Linus and sold everything and reverted to my old stuff (windows, samsung+android, bought huawei freebuds pro) and have not been any better since then because this combo helps me get my shit done better and faster as it turned out because freebuds have real multipoints which is very neatly switching between calls on the phone to the audio from another device
it was at the february 2022 so no apple still sucks if you got used to use your devices like a smart devices they intended to be and also get through your workday
According to Apple and its army of isheeps, you're just "using your phone the wrong way". Apple UX is perfect and Apple can't ever be wrong.
@@konstantin90s But Apple UI is the best!!!
